AFKers, and the resulting contempt for all entertainers

The contempt was there long before AFking became the norm.
Players didnt want to be forced into cantina's to get healed.
Contempt for healing classes predates this game.It got carried into it.
Once the recursive macros are gone there will be one less thing to point at to justify the contempt but it will still be there.

Well said. The /friends list is your friend.

I do have a question, though. What's the range on the search feature? Last night I knew some Master Musicians were online on my server because I saw them on my friends list. But when I tested the search feature, I found only a couple Novice Musicians. (I didn't even pick up myself, but I guess the search list excludes your own avatar.) Is it limited to your own city and surrounding area? To your own planet? Should I be suggesting that the devs broaden its range?

One thing I know to suggest: /register needs to be fixed ASAP. It's quite urgent now.

I don't know the exact range of the search, but I have picked up people on the opposite side of the planet before, and I do know the search is limited to the planet you're on. Is it possible that you didn't pick up yourself because you have the "Make my character searchable" option turned off?

Hmmm, when I search I find myself on the list. Maybe you did /anon or turned off your "make player searchable" option.

I think it's planet-wide, as my home city on Lok is 4000m from Nym's Starport, and someone found me while searching. I was in the middle of making some storage droids and the /tell asking for a music buff about knocked me over (the sound was turned way up for some reason lol).

I, of course, hopped a shuttle (which luckily was at our shuttleport at that very moment) and ran to Nym's and buffed them. It was his first music buff, too - I felt honored

I filled him in on the ways of entertainment buffs and he was very appreciative. Regardless of tip (which was more than adequate) it was a rewarding encounter and far more exciting than building Treadwell 10 Item Storage droids

Hmm...I also have 2 accounts. When I am playing my alt on Shadorfire and I need a buff, do you know what I do? I go to one of my friends and ask for a buff. Why am I able to do this? Because I'm not afk 99% of the time while playing my dancer/musician, therefore many of the others who are also at their keyboards know me and will gladly buff me (and yes, I do tip them). So out of curiousity, how do you see that making a buffbot, along with the many other people who have, is not taking away from people who are there at the keyboard playing? Why is it ruining your game because SOE is taking a stand and enforcing the kind of inter-dependacy that was the original purpose of this game? If you want to dump all your skills into combat, you have to expect to depend on other people for housing, clothing, food, healing, droids, weapons, armorand buffing. No one in this game is meant to be completely self sufficient, and now that SOE took a stand on it, it's "ruining your game"? Try playing it the way it was meant to be played, at the keyboard. And that doesn't mean at the keyboard with one account while your other one sits there on auto macros.

ok then, why dont you type /attack then. or type out /flourish, oh wait that would be "cheating" the game, what is the difference if that person is pushing the button or if he wrote a program to push the button for him? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? he pays the money what the hell do you care? i really dont think its any of your buisiness if hes pushing the button or if hes afk, how do you know hes not pushing the button saying BUFFS HERE COME AND GET THEM INVITE ME! how do you know hes not watching the screen, who cares if he is or not! its none of your business. They pay the money to do it, why exactly do you care. if you dont like the buff bot there go to another cantina, or join his group, if you join his group you will get the same xp. try doing that. you sound like a big cry babie, thats not the way the game was ment to be played!, so what let them play it how they want to, they pay just as much as you do.

As near as I can tell the search is per "server". By server I don't mean server cluster, I mean a specific area on the planet handled by a specific node of the cluster. In some cases this can be very small. Theed has 2, for example. In other cases this can be very large. The subdivisions aren't necessarily regular, either.

Hmm, since Theed has known server lines, it would be a good place to test that theory...

First of all, macros are not being removed from the game, and are not seen as cheating as you say. Macro looping in order to go afk and bypass actually playing the game is being removed, and anyone who is caught using a third party program in order to cheat the new system will be considered as someone who is cheating and will be banned. Second, I think you only registered for the forums to taunt people on this issue, as you just registered yesterday, and 4 of your total 7 posts are in this thread. Third, your responses have made my point completely, and no further response is needed to show people who the real cry baby is. And last, as I said before, the decision has been made, announced publically, and will be put into effect soon. You can either deal with it by being at the keyboard, go to another entertainer for your buffs, or go without buffs. The choice is yours. The end.

They are not taking out macro's. Only the recursive ability to hit one button and walk away for ever....or until server reset....A musician will still be able to make a macro that can last upto half an hour or more, easily, and thus socialize.

Next, you say you are in for the combat, not to sing, but you mastered musician? Ok obviously a holotainer. From what it sounds like you could careless and take advantage and only think about yourself in every single possible way. Not to mention about 9 years old....you'll get little favor from entertainers.

To answer your questions though, goto any holocron related board post. Or any buff bot related post.

1) If 30 other people in the cantina are afk grinding, for whatever reason, and your the lone at the keyboarder, then the game is boring, that ruins the game for how others may want to play with it.

2) If someone did Master, and they are at the keyboard, and they are offering buffs to people, is someone like you gonna go to them? or mooch a free buff from the bot? So now the entertainer's financial hopes are hurt, this too ruins the game.

3) Your narcissist attitude (I'll wait while you fetch the dictionary....) while you were holotaining, or when you get your BF healed, and walk out with out dropping a single credit, ruins the game.

Lastly, please explain to me how one is a nazi for saying this stuff? Seriously.

ok great assuming again, as i said before, i have 2 accounts 1 that is a doctor/musician, so i can buff myself, the second is combat, i dont want to have to have 2 accounts, but i do, because you cant play this game without buffs, its impossible unless your in a hudge group with doctors, and again, why do you care if its someone pushing the buttons or not, what does it matter to you, IT DOESNT MATTER, go get a life go get a grirlfriend or something, becuase you obviously have too much time on your hands and care way too much about this, and the attitude that im protraing wouldnt be narcism, it is being firm, narcism is a form of believing everything is bad or going to turn out bad, please go back to school.
