I'm considering getting my character up to a master merchant and was interested in how much a master merchant generally makes.

Thanks,

not much im afraid to say....

Unless you are planning on going up some other harvest/crafting tree you will be very disappointed with master merchant....although i do make some cash...i dont make much or any strictly from the merchant class.

Well, I know of at least one merchant who is making a tidy little 10k paycheck off her store, where she does not even own a vendor. She simply rents out the space and charges a small commission on the sales. I think this is kind of small. I am not a master merchant, but I am pulling in a steady 25k a day or so. Now, there is more merchant in my guild who is pure merchant. She really only has Management IV, but she gets about 500-600k a week, so she is doing quite well. All three of us are pure merchants, only making money on that, so it is quite possible to make a very large profit, although it is also possible to only get a little. It depends on how you are as a manager and your business deals.

Depends how you approach it. I'm a miner...I got a vendor selling resources...also I buy Food and powerups at below retail and sell those in 2 other vendors....my friend a master weaponsmith has a vendor for weapons and one for deeds...we share a house....I register my vendors daily. And in the area I'm on im the only resource vendor registered...so we do alright....

Good days bad days....depends what people come around for.

Today someone bought 10k worth of powerups...yesterday 225...so it all depends on how you go about things. People are not going to come to you and beg to sell their stuff on your vendors...you have to go and setup some relationships.

I am a Tailor and Merchant so my weekly sales may be skewed a bit.

I sell about 750k to 1 mill a week in clothing. Most of that on the weekend (~500k worth).

I am a Master Merchant and run a shop for my PA outside of Kaadara. I have 6 vendors inside with various items that our PA's crafters use to sell their goods. I usually sell on a slow day about 40k worth of goods, good days the upper 200k mark is broken. For that I take 15% from all the sales except for one, which I take 25% because I am farely good friends with the crafter. I would say I make about 20k+ on the good days, average though is about 10k mark abouts.

I am making between 100-200k per week as a casual gamer. I reinvest alot of it in stock.

This is a sad thread... all the numbers being listed as "weekly profit" are generally less than what an averagecombat character can make in an afternoon and considerably below what a good combat character who hunts the right places can make.

Sad that SOE is evenconsidering adding more money sinks to us. Seems like they should either be cutting the money flow off at the source or finding money sinks for the folks that actually have the money. I would bet real money that they look at merchants and see how much money flows our way.. and have completely ignored the fact ofwhat it cost us to even get those items there for sale in the first place or replace them.

Yeah sure, I can make hundreds of thousands in sales each week pretty easilly(occassionally over a million).. but somehow my bank account is always hovering around the 50K mark and I don't buy squat for myself.. heck I am still wearing my noobie clothes, have no armour and carry a weapon I made myself... go figure. It costs me pretty much as much to stay in business as I make and I do not see this changing, because a lot ofitems I sell are constantly becoming outdated and worthless. With as easy as credits are to make for the people that do spend the money in game... you can't price an outdated weapon low enough to generate interest. Heck, a Master Weapoponsmith on my server is selling a huge stock of laser rifles for 4k each and they are still just sitting there last I saw... and I am in the same boat myself.

Call me crazy.. but it would be nice if the averagemerchant could at leastbe on par with the average combat character cash wise at least.

I totally agree, that being said it's often the fault of the merchants/crafters (undercutters that is)themselves if what they make end up selling for what a fighter can make in one mission.

Thanks a lot for the info. I was just wondering whether it'd pay the bills or not and it seems that it definatly will.

Umm, yeah a fighter CAN make that in one mission, but it'd have to be a very good fighter, and probably in a group. Not every tom **edit** and luke with a FWG5 or T21 can make that kind of scratch in even an afternoon.

But along the same lines how about we focus the debate:

What is your business, how much do you spend (roughly), and how much do you make (roughly), using whatever time frame is easiest for you, so we can get a good cost/benefit sampling.

What I am is in my sig below. In my shop I sell weapons, powerups in crates, master artisan items in crates, top quality crafting tools, kits of all types and I have an Odds and Ends vendor on which I sell the weapons that were not good enough to make into a schematic and all other stuff I collect in my travels. Surprisingly, the Odds and Ends vendor does quite well selling all sorts of oddball stuff.. most of which I have no idea what it is even for.. hehe.

I take in about 300-500k a week average and I spend that or more trying to replenish materials and collect up those I do not have yet, so I can offer a better selection of weapons. All my goods are equal toor very close to the best quality available on my server.. as if I can not offer a quality product, I don't bother making it.I alsoprice everything enough below average to be an attractive buy, because my friends picked and dragged me toa location that isn't really all that great (outside Kor Vella, which is a pretty dead area on my server at least). So like I mentioned above.. while I can make as much as a million a week and have on a couple occassionswhen the starswere shining on me.. so far it costs me everything just to keep the business going and I usually have about 50k extraI can spend on non-business related stuff if I wanted to(although I rarely, if ever, have).

I suppose someday if better materials stop popping all the time and after I have collected upa nice cache of all I will need for a while.. then I might actually start making extra creds. But so far and this is a couple months into the deal... that isn't happening at all.
