Thread: I am so screwed :(
I am going on vacation next week,my wife got two weeks off work at the last minute, so we are gonna go have some fun. This would normally be a happy thing for me, which on one level it still is because spending vacation time with my wife and daughter is the best.
The down side is... it may(most likely)cause me to have to quit SWG. You see, I have about 1000 items on my 6 vendors and when I get back.. they will all be gone and I will be wiped out. And I do not mean they will sell, because since I won't be home, I can not register my vendor onthe map so only the folks that have shopped with me before and actually still have my shop waypointed (which is very few most likely, since even I delete waypoints if I know I can find them on the map again easilly) will even know I exist or be able to find my shop.
Woot, I am going to have millions in irreplaceablestock go poof andbe completely wiped out with absolutely ZERO chance of selling this stuff or being able to store it...I am so screwed. Sure wish I had not used pretty much the last of many awesome resources to make all my weapons... will most likely be months before suitable replacement resources show up. ![]()
Wonderful game design SOE... NOT!!
What if you cut your losses? Find 2-3 merchants to sell your goods for you on their vendors while you are gone. If you are making the items, you can sell them to merchants are a reduced price while still covering your costs. Then you can take down your vendors, adjust the sign on your house to say you will be back on mm/dd/yyyy and pay up your rent. Sure you will not make top dollar and will havemuch work to do when you return, but you will not have everything to poof either.
many are getting frustrated with the current game mechanics, but I think we can join together to help out the people that want to live in RL for a while.

Yeah I might just sell everything to another merchant.
Can't really see mysylf pulling inventory and storing it in the house. I'd need at least additional two houses to store everything (assuming I only had half my normal inventory).
I'm onRADIANT and would likely help you guys sell your stuff...
I'm roduk...contact me if you like to work something out...it would suck for everything to be gone.
Umm guys.. 1000+ items on my vendor. My large house already has 245 items in it, most of which is resources and I have 3 factories, leaving me with 1 lot. So, I suppose I could fly to Naboo, set up a small style 2 home and save 75 of the 1000+items. Also, finding a buyer won't happen. I have already been looking for wholesalers for much of my goods for over a week now, with no takers on my server.
Regardless... even if I had room for6 more houses to hold my stock or did find someone to buy it all at ridiculously discounted prices, those are NOT FUN options. I should not be punished or put out of businessin a game, for not being able to log in daily, or god forbid.. going on vacation!
This entiresystem needs to be changed.. ASAP.
Ooops. Hit submit while thinking. Sorry. Anyway...
Since the game mechanics aren't going to change in time to save you... I have an offer for you.
I have a char on Gorath with all 10 lots free. She's sharing a house with friends right now, and doesn't need her lots. Yet. She's also quite poor. Heh. So sorry, can't offer to buy your stock for resale, but I will offer the use of my 10 lots, for free, if you can come up with the houses to use as storage for your merchandise and you pay the maintenance. If you're interested, mail me in game to arrange it. Char name is Xian.
it is pretty crazy how they have it setup there is no way u can live your life like a normal person and play the dam game i went for a long weekend and i had to spend hours just so my char didnt get screwed.
The maintence in the game is outrageous and the hastle to play it is why so many players are leaving every day. I know that keeping the item count down creatues less lag but characters having 3 houses doesnt help either. Almost all artisans mooch lots of other players which is fine but the limits on inventory is crazy they expect us to have to use dozens of different items to make our chosen artisans items and then screw us by having no way to store them.
I hate to state the obvious, but pull them, shove em into backpacks, drop em in your shops, and reset the shop name to "On Vacation! back in a few weeks!"
No sales, but you won't lose your items. Just make sure you pay your maintenance and vendors up before you go ![]()
Yeah, pull them. While the prospect of sitting through withdraw sale/email spam/retrieve from stock room/find a place to store because the house limit is crappy, sucks, I would say its better than the alternative of loosing everything.
If you have that many things Id guess it would take you an entire evening to get everying withdrawn and stored.
Good luck in whatever you do though.
I did this once..needed a spare house to hold the extra merchandise as it came off the vendors. I had to do it over two days and it wasnt' fun..and the email spam filled my mailbox!
Your best bet might be to give your access to a trusted friend for maintainence. Since youare looking at losing 100% of your stuff anyway..even if they steal a little you come out ahead.
I've been taking care of my weaponsmith's stuff for him the last two weeks while he's away. Even though he's very very good I'm a lot richer than he is and there's really nothing he has that I want that I couldn't buy for myself without even denting my bankroll. Find someone like THAT to take care of your stuff..someone who'll do it 'cause it's the right thing to do.
Good luck,
