Just be aware that as soon as someone that doesn't have Eff IV pays some maint. it will revert to normal maintenance.

This is technically exploiting a bug, isn't it? Efficiency IV is only supposed to apply to structures on the lots you own, right?
Otherwise, I could start a business offering to pay $1 to hundreds of harvesters, factories, and shops, to give their owners a 20% discount....right?
I disagree. I offer to 'upgrade' shop/house signs for residents of my player city all the time. I don't think that the type of sign has any special significance, and it doesn't affect game play in any way.
Sharing the Efficiency IV discount, on the other hand, dilutes a money sink, causing inflation, which hurts the economy and everyone's game experience.
The discount is 'turned on' when you pay maintenance. It checks to see if you have the skill when you pay, then applies the discount. If you pay 1cr to your homes, it'll work. ![]()

I've always thought it was intended to be this way.... something about a merchant being able to track down low cost materials and broker the best deals... I've often thought about selling my services to pay maintenance on structures by taking 10 percent profit (i.e. they give me 100 credits, I keep 10, but with the 20 percent discount they still get a deal)
Now that I look a little closer though I guess it does seem like a bug that if I pay 1 credit maintenance to my PA hall that it discounts "ALL" the maintenance that has been paid, regardless of who paid it.
It would be more logical to contiue to allow this feature, but only have it apply to payments made by the merchant.

No, this is a bug that only showed up as of the November 13th big patch. It had never been this way before.
i run 50 and soon to be 70 fusions with my contractors. I do pay maint on them to get the discount. It is significant savings. Exploit or not, I am comfortable using this as they are all my harvesters and the maintenance is paid in full by me, not the contractor.
Exploit or not, I'll take full advantage of it, if only to recoup some of my bug induced losses that CSR's can't reimburse you for.
