so you can no longer pick up an as-yet-uninitialized vendor??
Ok, I am not usually one of those people that totally ride on devs, I do realize what a massive job they have. But COME ON! The Merchant profession by itself is so totally full of bugs and annoyances and instead of focusing on fixing the existing problems, now we are about to have a whole new world of problems with jtl. Then comes the combat rebalance.
I'm sorry I know this is basically just a rant post with very little usefulness, but I just had to get it out there. I have been a merchant (again) for only a couple of weeks or so and I have never been more frustrated with this game as I have been in that time (and I am an Image Designer).

An Image Designer AND a Merchant? Would you like us to just kill you now, and ease your suffering?

As far as I know you were never able to pick a vendor up once you've dropped it, initialized or not.
you can't even move them with the /move forward/back XXX command. Only rotate works.

When you drop the vendor, doesn't it say something about not being able to move it once it is initialized? That message has always been there since I've been playing, but we've never been able to move the vendor once it is dropped, whether initialized or not.

As far as I remember (back to beta 3 at least) you could never move them (regarldess of that message) For a while you could pick them up again. That caused some problem and they removed that feature from the game months ago. (like August/September of last year or something) As far as I know that isn't a bug its just a design fact. Vendors are very tricky from a technical aspect apparently and moving them around causes issues...so you can't move them around.

Ok, two comments in your posts LadyGrey tell me you are going to have fun in this game no matter what!!!
"An Image Designer AND a Merchant? Would you like us to just kill you now, and ease your suffering?"
"Is the beta testing almost over for this game?"
I did laugh out loud at both of the above!

I have never been able to move then either (only rotate), but a couple-few months back when I first picked up tailor (and a little merchant) I remember being able to pick them up before initializing and redrop them. Really not that big a deal usually, except like today. After going through the obligatory 8000 vendors before finding one that wasn't hideous, I accidently dropped her instead of examined her. POOF! Just like that, she had to be destroyed and I had to start all over again.

SeaRaptor - Doc already stated the fact that for a short time the ability was there.
Oh well, I guess what doesn't kill us or make us quit....doesn't kill us or make us quit.

And yet again I somehow managed to turn off convert line breaks. Sorry guys. I'm a goon.

My bad then. I didn't drop a single vendor from December to July, so I figured that they hadn't changed this. If you could do it for a while, then sorry.

It is always possible I an making that up but I distinctly remember being to "Pick up" vendors if you misplaced them as long as they hadn't been initialized. I remember doing it. It isn't possible any more and my memory is that it changed a couple of months after launch when they were trying to solve some serious vendor lag issues.

hiyas,
yes, at one point it was possible to pick them up (before being initialized, /move never worked). it lasted maybe 6 weeks, and if memory serves it stopped working as a fix to the 'invisible vendor' bug... which occurred somehow after you created and deleted vendors, invisible spots in your inventory would be taken up until server reset. ahh the good old days.
