Empty vendors are kind of annoying. I travel all the way to visit a new shop and there is nothing on the vendor. Is there a way to check a vendor with out traveling to it? If not there should be, or atleast a way to check if it is empty or how many items are currently for sale on a specific vendor.

Currently, unfortunately, empty vendors will show up on the map. Although in the future this may change so that if a vendor is registered and unstocked it won't show up, I think we are all in agreement that something like that needs to be in place, it is highly frustrating to visit countless vendors be charged several access fee's along the way and find nothing which you were actually looking for in the first place.. I try never to place a vendor and register it unless I can put at least a few items, more like alot, on that vendor pertaining to the registration on the map.

Current Merchant Issues List : This is Doc's list of complied merchant issues to be addressed, your's is in there with alot of good feedback.. Hopefully it will be picked up and altered, all good things come to those who wait, it will happen in time..

I'll be glad when empty vendors are taken off the map, too. And preferably deleted after a week of nothing on them.

Anyone have a reason why a vendor should remain up and active if it isn't stocked with anything for a week? When presumably the person owning it can just place another vendor if he or she is entitled to place vendors?

No items will be lost. I can't see how anyone would legitimately complain that they can't place a vendor anymore and (/cry /whine) theirs got deleted. Well...it would have stayed up if you had stocked it.

Deleting empty vendors is a great way to help encourage folks who take a break from the game to keep merchant so they can put vendors up again when they return.

I think just about everyone would be in favor of deleting unstocked vendors after a period of time, which is more important than just taking it off the map. After all, who like wandering around a city's mall and finding so many vendors that haven't been stocked in ages? It's annoying. And the general annoyance factor of shopping could be dramatically reduced if unstocked vendors were just removed entirely.

I know of cases in which folks have actually asked CSRs to delete vendors belonging to people who haven't logged in in months. Should that be necessary? I don't think so.

You lose the clothes you put on the vendor. In my case a ST armor, which I wouldn't be too happy about losing. Removing empty vendors from the planetary map is enough.

They should be encouraged to return to the game, and losing things in-game won't help. Who cares if they keep merchant or not.

I agree that empty vendors are pretty annoying. Of all my characters, only one is a crafter/merchant. But I make sure his vendors are stocked and set custom barking when they're running low or sold out of a particular item.

Removing (unregistering) empty vendors from the map is fine. Of course, then the hourly maintenance must also drop to unregistered vendor amounts.

But not deleting them! Not only do you lose whatever clothing/accessories they have on them, but you also lose the maintenance credits you pumped into them. Both are unnacceptable losses. It would be like deleting player houses after a week if they didn't have anything in them. Not a good solution, IMO.

I agree. Removing a vendor is unacceptable. I worked much too hard to get the exact vendor look and placement that I want and I don't want anything to happen to it if it should take me a couple of weeks to get more things to put into it.

Unregistering an empty one would do the job nicely without disrupting anything.

Hopefully after the hologrinding craze comes to a complete stop and vendor poaching is fixed, this will become much less of an issue anyway.

I don't see the vendor problem going away soon because "hologrinding has ended".My experience so far is people are maintaining the alt as a merchant or some type of craftsman to support the jedi character.

You wouldn't have to lose the items...they could be placed in your backpack as the vendor quits and leaves the uniform. No reason the excess maintenence couldn't be placed in your bank account.

They could fix it so that you would lose nothing but the vendor you didn't stock.

No. I can't agree with deleting vendors that didn't get stocked for a few days. Things happen in RL that would make that just painful. Takign them off the map is plenty. If it isn't on the map you won't be fooled into traveling out to see it. If you just wander in and decide to browse it you really haven't lost anything.

You are aware that vendors can hold far more stuff than could ever fit into your inventory + backpack on your back + bank, right?

In any case, just losing your stuff isn't the only issue. As has been stated, losing what for some is an hour or more of "rolling up" vendors until they get a race/look they like, is also not acceptable.

And I just don't see any rreason for such a drastic step anyway. Considering how things in SWG "load on the fly" (and there "new" vendor "back end" just put in to speed up vendors + bazaar) there really isn't an appreciable "savings" in lag, etc. to achieve, in my mind. Just no reason for this at all, IMO.

I currently have two vendors in my house, and one of them is empty, and really just their for xp...however my stocked vendor is in the front room of my house, while my empty one is in the back room with the name of "EMPTY" ... if people look their for stuff...they are just dumb...especially since neither are registered...
