Thread: Why don't people use the Trade Forums..

...instead of spamming at the starport???
It seems to me thata lotpeople do nottake advantage of the trade forums. Some people think it's only for auctions and selling "uber" loot directly. Instead of spamming and getting added to everyone's ignore list, people should put up a post on the forums advertising their shop. Chances are, they'd get more business. Personally, I make it a point not to go in the spammers' shops. (sometimes, though, you just can't resist the temptation!) I have never spammed; I did shout a few times while driving through the city when my shops first opened. I did post on the trade forum every day for a week when each one opened, and post an ad at least every other week or so...
I mean, I know people want to master merchant and all, but anybody who's anybody on a server reads the forums on a regular basis, and posting ads is much classier than spamming. That's what the trade forums are there for anyway, right?

Only about 20% of the player base uses the forums to any substantial degree which means that leaves 80% of your market not listening. There needs to be an ingame mechanism.

I for one DO NOT read the trade or server forums, just to many jerks are morons there. Sure they are everywhere but some places the concentration is bigger. A post on the server forums is more likely to bring me stupid question by tells, or insane requests.
Now I do not spam at the star ports either, but given that the majority of players DO NOT read the forums at all, and the there are properly many people like me who only read the professional forums I can se why in game advertisement is necessary. I mean, it is not like the merchant professions provide great tools for making you shop know is it, to many empty vendors registries on the map for it to be really good.

hmm....maybe it's just Bloodfin....but you're right, a lot of the people on the forums are just jerks...but being a tailor, I've never had a problem with tells or anything due to the forums.

Er, I don't use the trade forums because some of the people there are downright nasty. Don't ever ask how much would people pay for something or ask how much something is worth unless you intend to auction it off right then and in that thread. People will swoop onto you like vultures and flame you for not posting correctly.
There is a small group of people on the Wanderhome Trade forums who buy absolutely everything, and get really angry when they cannot buy something via auction on the trade forums. I had a guildmate sell a tusken mask by putting "when I receive an acceptable offer either here or in game, I will sell it" He sold it from an offer in game, and then the vultures jumped and said he should be banned from the trade forum and never be allowed to sell or buy anything there again. All because he was playing the game and someone sent him a /tell with a good offer.
Anyway, those forums irritate me, so does the main Wanderhome forum. 3/4 of the posts in there are by people who have quit the game and only post to complain or post things completely not related to Wanderhome, let alone the game itself. The moderators are doing a disgraceful job IMHO.

hat is because you are a tailor... some professions are far more exposed to questions from the same kind of people who cannot find the "next" button on the vendor interface.

Yea I know you were. I wasn't offended or anything. I just wish we could either get the horse rezzed or get word that they are giving us a new one and let us get on with our lives.

The trade forums are a joke, i dont even bother with them anymore. Its polluted with ebay credits

where do you get your statistics????????????????
all the money is moving around the trade forums...i make all my deals now thru that forum...its the omnly thing that drives me to anyones vendor.

when i started playing about 3 weeks ago i made a point of visiting every vendor on tatooine listed on the map . Much to my surprise almost all were empty .
I made my first post on the trade forum today and received a sarcastic response from a wally with 1000 plus posts who thinks that , posting a lot of replies entitles him to belittle people .
The reason people dont bother with the trade forum is that it is polluted with many self important jack asses .
