Thread: Economy Broken Since CU?

Since the CU my shop near MO which is normally bursting with happy customers has been almost deserted. I run 6 vendors and I have gone from selling maybe 10 items a day to four items a week.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Has everyone left the game or is no one buying anything much.

I think alot of the people are playing.

I do not mean it as numbers of people are ingame,

I mean that those ingame are doing stuff.

all the folks who stockpiled, and hoarded,
and bought anything and everything when the impulse came
are out learning how things work, doing new missions, grouping.

the economy isn't broken,I see it as slowly starting to be repaired.

there will not be the flood of credits so many could easily get solo
there will not be the afk/bot/macro buff me taking away from those who actually play
and from what I know the uberness has been put in check,it shall not rule the galaxies

Actually in some ways the economy is broken.

If you ever take a look on the bazaar and try to find specific stuff, you really can't find anything... it's kind of hard to say it isn't (especially with the fact people have to restock thousands of item and I'm positive about 70% or so don't want to do it anymore), and a lot of stuff is majorly over inflated.

For example, vasarian brandies... I saw a couple (couple, not a lot, remember the restocking issue) for... 20k for 18 use. Not a factory crate, but 18 use!

It seems there's pretty much a shortage of chef foods now, and I've read where a lot of players are willing to pay that much.

20k... and it only ended up costing around maybe 1k to make...

Currently, the economy IS broken... people might be trying out new stuff, but at the moment it looks pretty grim.

** Heavy sigh ** Wish I had 2 credits for every time someone said the economy was broken. I'm a Weaponsmith and probably made 4-5 million credits the week after CU. A lot of stuff I couldn't stock fast enough. Pre CU I did zero in sales. I had been on hiatus for about six months and the shop was open for about a week before the patch. I attribute it to a couple of factors. A lot of folks wanted to try out the new weapons. I also made sure I restocked everything so that folks could tell what they were buying. I was lucky int the fact that WS didn't change all that much. AS went through a total revamp. I'm not sure about chef, but I'd guess they went through a period where they had little idea what to make, stock or sell. I think a lot of it depends on what you are trying to sell. I fully expect that after ROTW is released in stores, weapon sales will drop to a trickle. I was a WS for about a year before I left the game. I always knew that there would be good times and bad times.

A lot of it has to do with what you are selling, vendor location and server. Spend some time to see where people are. Ask old customers where they went. Do a little advertising. Do a lot swap so you can put up a house in a different location. I had 5 vendors on 4 planets. Sometimes one would be a lot busier than the others. But I found that being in different spots helped to keep that kind of dead spot happening. Plus there is always the tried and true "give 'em something special for cheap". I'd put a really nice weapon or a bunch of grenades in one shop just to attract people. Treat it as a challenge. Sometimes finding a way to attract customers is better than selling the same thing over and over.

I am doing very well since the CU. Almost to well in fact I am struggling to keep my armor in stockRangers are offering thier services to me in exchange for armor which is a throw back to the days of yore for me. To do this was not cheap I spent alot to prepare to the CU but I have more then made up for my investment.

The trouble as I see it is the demand for new post CU products is so high right now that crafters can't keep up with demand. I have a combat alt. He spent Zero time getting exp in double exp week because I needed the time just to keep items on my vendors. I wanted to do space mining and fly new squadrons during double exp week and had no time for that either. So no the economy is not "broken" its just changed dramatically and it takes a tremendous amount of effort to adapt to keep up.

There are a few factors since the CU that determine if you have good sales or not.

1) Have you relisted ALL your items - until you do people can not see descriptions of the items or stats
2) Depends on what you are selling - Armor is very much in need right now so armor sales can be high. I think most post-cu crafted items are selling very well. Tailors items also are big in demand since many people wer left naked form the armor cert changes.
3) Very large discount sales from people leaving the game will slow regular merchant sales a bit.

I am sure there are other factors but i think these are the biggest. The economy isnt really broken, it is just going through a recession or revamp. Until people become comfortable with the CU changes they will be leary to spend lots of credits on loot items and stuff, saving them for the necessities. Once the newness wears off and peole settle in, sales should return to normal.

A lot of people had credits stockpiled from all that uber loot in the pre-CU era, but once they have run out and the new wave of Episode 3 players come in we are going to see a recession. Money will not be coming into the system as such an large rate as it has been. It's like the shipwright boom then bustafter JTL came out, once people have figured out what they want and they start scaping the bottom of their wallets it's going to get tight!

Hopefully the slow down of the economy is going to balance out with the limited availability of the uber loots, but it WILL be at a lower level than before the CU. But for those with business as usual, you will be buried under the rubble! The money has to be run out of the system first and sitting in the bank accounts with the other millions you made are as "out of circulation" as it gets!

Multi-Player is what brings the SWG world alive (real people, other players, make SWG so wonderfully dynamic). I just don't treat SWG like it was a chat room, I don't play to socialize and I resent forced grouping!"

I donno, my sales are good... today I sold 1.6mil of just clothing, and it didn't involve any chef tissues, which is usually what pushes my sales up past 1mil on a specific day. of course I have my ups and downs, but overall I'm still doing good business.

I agree with JohnAdams, it really depends on where you are and what your products are. I have one shop location out near the krayt yard in a player city, and I get decent foot traffic as well as customer referrals. I have a lot of regular clothing in stock, but my BE tissued clothing flies off the vendor. they're not even 4 socket black stuff

My sales have been about the same. I don't really sell anything that was hugely affected by the CU though. I need to craft something...anything..

First big change for us merchants was the bazaar thing that lead to alot more people visiting our mall on Tatooine. We never did much advertising and lived with the steady sales but bazaar search helped alot to get new people in. This first big change is the only big change IMO.

CU brought a big impact on my weapon sales - or more precise: it was the respec. Lots of people needed new weapons and sales were fantastic for two weeks, not to mention all the new BHs and Smugglers (approx. 2k BH droids of both types and approx 1k sets of Smuggler tools sold in 3 days), but now sales reduce to slightly increased pre-CU numbers.

Belisama (from Hoof&Horn) cant keep up with the demand for stimpacks, our chef has trouble to keep his stuff stocked.

Personally I dont think that anything is broken really with CU - as long as the price is right (and Bazaar search helps to compare) and quality is high. There will be always a demand for highquality stuff and that will be always more expensive than rubbish but even with reduced mission payouts (meaning it takes alot longer to get a mission fulfilled) the fighter get enough income to pay fair prices for all the nice goodies they need.

The biggest problem im seeing is that ppl are still trying to make fortunes on junk items.

Heres how I price my items no matter what they are, i goto bizare search for the item im selling and then divide what the items average price is in half. i have had absolutely no problem ever selling anything and have made a huge fortune by not being greedy.

The economy is only broken for the greedy ,and the lazy peeps that wont check and restock their vendors

yeah, fact is that argument about being "moral" and not being "greedy" is a faulty one. my goal is to make the most money. if i do something such as sell cheaper when i don't have to, i am just screwing myself. money is a good thing, it's better that i have as much of it as i can, to support myself, my goals, my family, etc. so if i do otherwise, i screw myself, my goals, my family, etc

i know this game isnt real life but the stuff does have a real life value so the comparison enters
