Thread: Merchant Thought to make them Supper Cool!
Okay, here is my thought,
We clear out one of the rows of boxes (We all know there are a few that are empty as it is) and we create a new line in the merchant line
Auctioneer
It would not be like the items in the bazzar, it would be real short times, and very fast. (This would work if umber items were in the game)
You would have a "special vendor" (Like maybe a Staff with a Flag on it, so it could be seen by a croud) when people dubble clicked it 2 things would happen.
- They would join a chat group for that auction.
- A popup would come up,
- it would have the item, it's stats, and a description. The price it is going for, and a bid box. You would see the highest price, and the bidder. And place a bid. Also a Reserve meet, ot Not meet Icon.
- The Auctioneer's box a place to insert the name of the auction, a place to enter the owner of the item, A start button, and a place to put the discription, and an end button, when the end button is pressed, a one min timer starts, for last min action, and done.
- The owner, would have a box that allows them to place the item(s), enter the reserve, and OK (removing the item from there pack)
Now this would last maybe 10-30 mins max (So after 30mins, the countdown starts). So you could yell that such and such is going on the auction block, and let people gather. then start.
As you advance, you will be able to have your auctions in better places. Lets say your house to start, Out in the places houses are built next, and in the "Marketplace" in town later.
You could sell one item, or bundle many items (Like a suit of armor)
The Owner of the item, would get the cash, and the buyer would pay a % or flat fee to the merchant (Added at the end of the auction, like at all the RL auction houses) or 5% from the buyer, and seller for 10% for the "Auction House"
I think this would be fun, for everyone, including people who just want to watch.
Thoughts?
It's sort of an interesting idea, but perhaps overly complex and difficult to implement. I like it somewhat less than many of the other proposals for additions and enhancements of the profession. Part of it is also that there are not that many items, as yet, worth auctioning, where they are quite rare and the price that people are willing to pay is highly variable.
With all due respect.....I don't like this one.
Just fix what we have.
and let new players know how planet ads work with the loading screen
If there are uber items in the game, there will be no crafters and no merchants and people will be out camping them rather than going to the auction though.![]()
It's a sort of interesting idea, but I just don't see it getting used.
Have people used auctions much? I see them for resources and ignore them because if I'm buying resources, I need them NOW, not three days from now. But that has a lot to do with having good suppliers who are usually who I buy from.
You know, I am tring to brainstorm on making this class more useful, The ideas are ment to be read, and added to.
My job is not to just point-out all the bugs, trust me, they know about them, I am also suppose to find ways to make the class more fun.
There will be umber items, I can see a future where UMBER crafting componets are found, or a UMBER statue for your house. Maybe a componet that unlocks a new style of house. A gem. Umber items can work very well in a crafting based system. You guys just need to think outside of what is there. It would not be hard to add an OPTIONAL box in a Schema, if you add a "Thing" you make a better thing. Auction is not used as it is because it has a 3k limit, well who would aution anything that is less than 3k, I think they are silly. And I agree with Numtini (For once I think) that I want it, I want it NOW, well 10 mins is basicly NOW.
I do not want Umber swords or guns, but I can see that a gun made from this rare miniral (dropped off a chicken) makes a much better gun, and the item could be very wanted.
What's "umber"? Is that leet-speak for "uber" or something?
(unless marqie is talking about brown earth containing ferric oxide and manganese oxides)
Yes, I do not do great leet speak, I will correct my self. ![]()
Uber, uber uber!
*wonders what Supper has to do with being cool*
*is hungry*

I appreciate your brainstorming, but seriously, I would be happier if they just make the class work like it is intended. Auctions are annoying imo...I see a chat room of 'auctions griefers' who have nothing better to do all day than outbid people for the hell of it. That sounds silly, but we a) don't have such Uber items that would even warrant this (thank god) and b) player economy means prices and merchandise relying on player's merchant skills. This includes prices competition, appeal, reputation, and advertising. Not having a auctioneer pander to the highest bidder.
In a way, I can't get excited about this because the game is absurdly awash in Baz Natch money and early mastercrafter money that anything which is a genuine rare is always going to sell for absolutely crazy ridiculous sums of money. If I had a weapon assembly +2 tape to add to my store inventory, I could list it for 100,000 credits, in all likelihood, and watch it vanish like that. That's lunch money for a master weaponcrafter. If the only way to get desirable rare drops is to be highly combat capable, what you're going to see with an auction system like this is strange Merchant-Combatant hybrids rather than the more expected Merchant-Crafter hybrid. I guess that's ok but it'll be a bit odd and somehow captures for me the ills of the game's economy in one swoop.
I'd be content to be able to have an Auction Option off of a Vendor in my shop. I don't understand why this isn't available for player Vendors.
