Thread: Merchant xp is Screwed AGAIN!!!!!
I don't think it's a bug. I think it's their way of trying to keep exploits and "grinding" out of the game. I don't like it either, but then again I can't blame them. What fun is a game if all you play for is to speed through it as fast as possible? They're trying to make Merchants "work" for their XP(ie. be an actual Merchant) and no one can blame them for that.
Btw, I also did that "view the vendor" trick. But I'm not upset if they took it out, because in a way I was cheating the system. That's kinda like being hired by Wal-Mart as a cashier and becoming a manager of a chain just by doing nothing. There has to be some work involved. Combat-types have to kill. Crafters have to craft. Medics have to heal. A Merchant's job is to sell.
A better solution: give more XP for what you sell. Right now the XP you get is just okay, but could definately be better.
When you set up new vendors it may give you some XP but it WILL stop again. I change mine about every other day to see if it will help and nope! I read in another thread that if you sit in there with them (keeps the vendors in the world) then it wil give you XP. I tried that last night by setting up a macro to keep my player from AFKing out of the game. With 6 vendors up I got aroun 6k-7k in about 7 hours. Thats a HUGE improvement. Its been doing it all day today so Ill see what it did today when I get home. Hopefully I got XP well see. Im half way done with it after the holo telling me to do this over a month ago.
As for those of you who think its a goo didea by the DEVs to make it hard to get the XP, think of this. It aint that hard to go through MOST professions in less than a week. Im halfway after a month! I dont think thats terribly fair to make one profession that much harder regardless of why. Remember, you have NO control over your XP as a merchant. Its either by the hour or someone else has to get the XP for you. Since I have NO control over my XP, then I think I should definitely get hourly XP (150/hour per vendor is fair).
If I could DIRECTLY affect my XP then I would but I cant. This needs to be fixed because they are making it too uneven for players to become Jedi when they have to do these hard professions. They are always talking about balancing, well here's their chance. Make it so that it doesnt take 2-3 months to master this freakin profession.
Just a thought from a Master CH and Pistoleer who wants his pistol skills back and cant until he masters this freakin profession. You dont have to agree with me, but I think by reading these threads for 3 weeks now, that most of you do!

I did this same exact thing. I wasn't getting the xp, so I sat my character down last night at 10pm, when the servers came back up this morninglogged on and I had around 4-5k of xp from my six vendors. So it will work that way.

Also FYI, the CSR's deleted my ticket on this without as much as a response. So don't bother trying to do that. Instead bug it often I suppose.
I confirm. The secret is that the vendors have to be IN the world for you to get XP. When noone is there to see them, they are NOT in the world. They pop up when you come in. This is why you all of a sudden get alot of XP sometimes. Its because someone came in and viewed your vendors, so you get the 150 per vendor for that hour AND the XP for them viewing it (50XP). So set up a macro to keep you ingame when you are asleep and at work. I got throught 2 skills in 2 days this way. Im now only 6 boxes from master and am glad I figured this out with the help of some others. So you HAVE TO keep the vendors INGAME to get the XP. Ive told you about my macro for when Im not ingame, but when I am ingame I visit my vendors every hour for just a minute or two and voila' I get XP.
