Thread: Vanishing Vendor Items: A Theory
It seems like items vanishing from vendors is a growing problem. Given that I noticed items starting to disappear from my vendorover the last few days(11/27-11/28), I have an idea of what may be happening.
The 'big patch' which allowed for 30-day item sales on vendors was implemented on 11/13. Under the old system, an item would be on sale for 7 days, followed by (I believe) another 7 days that you had to retrieve/resell the item before it was automatically deleted. This means a 14-day windows existed on vendors before items were destroyed.
My theory is that there is still logic in vendors to clean out items after being in the vendor for 14 days. I know I restocked my vendors on 11/13 and 11/14 to take advantage of the new 30-day sale window. This means the 14 day cleanout period started 11/27 and 11/28.
All items I lost were of my original 30-day stocking back on 11/13 and 11/14.
This is just a guess, but a guess based on previous behavior of vendors. So for the time being I am going to make sure I remove/restock all my vendor items before they hit T-16 days.
I had some items vanishing yesterday and today, and as far as i remember they were all "old" items, i.e they had been on my vendor for 10-14 days. I will let one of my less valuable items "rot" on the vendor tosee when it vanishes.
As for now, I don't trust the new 30 day period, and will start to restock every 5-7 days as before. Luckily I have only 70-80 items to restock.
I have filed a ticket, but I have a feeling I will get some mumbojumbo answer as usual..
Lost my entire stock on one vendor, about two dozen items on another, and and unknown number on two more....
Probably at least 2M worth of weapons inventory. If it goes like in the past we will get a lame excuse, no replacement and a message like can you precisely list what you lost...
Maybe if they would test things for more than 1 or 2 weeks some of these things would actually be noticed. Grrrrr, very upset.

Okay, I guess I add "empty and restock vendors" to my task list every ten days or so.
I'd SOOOO wanted to rely on 30 days of stocked goodness, but I don't want to risk all that hard work I put into my foodstores.
This theory makes sense, as I relisted all my items a few days after the big patch. I then did a bunch of restocking. I didn't play much for a week, but I did check in on my vendors at least once a day. Yesterday when I was finally able to login for a decent period of time, I was shocked to see both my vendors under 100 items each (heck, the total for both together was less than 100). I know that earlier in the week I hadover 300 still left. Allowing for normal sales, I'd say I easily lost 100 items.
Unfortunately I deleted those vendors after moving, so those items arelost forever I'm sure.

Eutock, I think your theory is spot on, or at least in the right direction. This is definitely tied somehow to the new 30 day list code - and it's clearly broken. It looks like most of us are reporting loss this week, which coincides with 14 days since the patch. This blows big time!
Thanks for the warning! I haven't lost anything that way yet, but last night I lost 3 items that were offered to me on my vendor the same day. I bought them, but when I tried to pick them up, they vanished! It did refund my money, but now the items are gone! I don't know if the owner will get them back or not.
Anyone have any ideas what happened?

But you guys aren't getting any kind of email that the items expired right? Just vanish with no email about them at all?
Yup, this is exactly what's happening. do you think if we remake new vendors it will solve the problem?

This is correct for me as well. Items gone, no money, no emails.
Both of my vendors were created before the big patch (months before).

These items simply disappear with no warning or emails of any kind. Also sounds (based on the responses here) that it can happen to both pre-path and post-patch vendors.
