Thread: Merchant Tents? Good, Bad, Ugly? Info Please!
I'm very curious about the new Merchant Tents. I have the option to move into one for my new city or I can just drop the vendor in the mall.
How about the tent? Can I drop things on the floor in it? How big is it? Is it expensive to get one and is there maintenance?
Any information that can be provided would be helpful.
They are small - about the size of the smallest room in a large generic planet house. The do not havea door. They take 1 lot. I believe maintenance is 8c/hr - I dropped in 10000 and got like 50 days. You would not want to use them for storage - they are designed for a few vendors and that is abou it. All the same controls you get with a house - admin, set name, change sign, create vendor, etc. They can't be set to private - public by nature. I have been told that you can create multiple colors - I created mine in the field and must have missed that option - mine came out a reddish rust color with 2 yellow globe lights that hang above the doorway on either side. Footprint about the same as a small house - maybe a little less. That's about all I can think of - need Efficiency 4 to place and you can't transfer to anyone without Efficiency 4 - I am not certain they can be transferred at all. Vendor and items can disappear quickly after setting it up initially, but I am told they reappear within 30 minutes after a log - I will find out if this is true when I log back in tonight - else I will be filing a new ticket ![]()
I set up a grey tent last night. I like it and those who saw it last night did too.
I have a grey one, to match the surronding south coronet housing. I have set up one vendor inside and am placing only city things in it: streetlights, statues, fourntains, tents, etc.. Inside on display I have: Vendor City'Zen, the 4 streetlight types for display, 1 strange statue for display, 1 small storage unit as vendor counter and many packpacks signs trying to educate people that things like fountains and the sentinal statues are simply too large for most interiors! ![]()
You can see into the tent, but most people just running up to the tent for the first time will not see the contents from outside. Like other buildings, these objects do not load until you've actually entered the building.
The area the tent takes for placement is exactly the same footprint as a personal wind generator. I know because I put my tent right where my wind gen was and it's a spot that would not have allowed anything bigger.
SHAMELESS PLUG:
Tempest players are invited to come check out my minimall of Laker Pro Shop and Lakers City Tent, on Coronet's beautiful South Shore! The first buildings along the waterfront on a leasurely trek from Coronet, they're pretty hard to miss.
But for those that might: -410, -5480 is the common location to these very close buildings.
My shops feature Furniture (FIX ITEM TEXT COLORING PLEASE!!!), some clothing, crafting tools and stations, stim packs by Whisperingand now CITY ITEMS!
One month after starting to play my crafter, the business is taking off!!! Come on down and get your name on the preferred customers list!!!
End of shamless plug. Tents are cool! (oh and they only take 6cpu per hour)
Other players can place vendors in your tent if you give them admin...my archy friend put one of hers in my tent.
I believe that you can declare the tent as a residence...if you have gyspsy tendencies. ![]()

They come in 3 colors i believe, a tannish brown, a green, and a grey. I have the grey and the green one and love them. Perfect alternative to laying down several houses. Like any other building if you get a TEF you will get booted out of it.
Yes, you can drop things in them. There's just not a huge amount of room inside. ![]()
I've got one set up and like it so far. It's a neat benefit of the class.
