"Not a huge amount of room" is putting it nicely. Imagine puttingadesk chairin your bathtub. Now you get the picture ? I't really more like a native american teepee or a camping tent as far as size goes.

What about getting up to Effieciency IV to place the tent and the unlearning the skill? What will happen to the tent?

I guess this is just human nature to know what you can and can't get away with.

Thank you all for the great info, especially the Tent FAQ.

How many items can be placed in the tent? I am looking as this being a merchant storage area.

Thanks

Can you set an entrance fee on them?

(And my apologies in advance if by saying before "you can do everything but declare privacy", you meant entrance fees too and I'm too dense to believe it )

This may be a stupid question...but how does one make an Advanced fiberplast panel?

I posted this on my server forum, but I am interested in pricing information. With the required hides and factory reinforced fiber panels from a tailor - these things take a bit more time and money to make then a small house, but fewer resources. They also have a limited market in requiring Efficiency 4 to place them. Ihave no clue what to charge ? I just stuck a few on my vendor for 20k to see what happened. Is this high? Low?

I can't see pepole paying more for them than a small house. Even though getting hides can be very expensive 600 hides can be as high as 3-6k sometimes. I am selling the one I built for 5k but I didn't pay for those hides and I got the fiberplast panels etc for free as well. So I am only dealing with the metal and ore.

I can't see charging more than 8-10k for them depending on the going rate for a small house. But that is just me, maybe people with pay more for them.

LOLI can tell you from experience as an architect that they won't pay more if the stage is set on a massive scale initiall for 8-10k. From what I have seen that would mean someone might pay 12k or so if they couldn't find them anywhere else - otherwise they will just wait until they find someone to make one for 8k. But I don't think the demand for these things will be that great since not a ton of peeps have Efficiency 4 most likely. I personally sell my small houses for 11-13k and move just enough of them to equal my personal desire to make them. If my tents are still there in a month, I'll probably drop em to 15k and so on and so on until I find a point where I am equal in sales rate to my personal desire to make them I also had to pay 10cpu for my hide and 11k for a crate of reinf. fiber panels - I guess I just don't have good connections OR good bargain shopping skills

On Starsider I'm lucky if I can get 8k for a small house people are selling them in the street for 6k.. *sigh*

I doubt there will be a huge market for the merchant tents but there will be some. On Starsider I can guarantee they won't sell for 20k and maybe not for 10k. Very bad architectural market on our server.

I hear ya - what I have found is that the street/starport sellers only have so many products and are only on for so long. After they run out of their 1 or 2or 3 products or log off, the Merchant planetary advertising kicks in and people have to start looking around. At that point, as long as your price is fair and not gouging the customer, you can make profitable sales off your vendor at 50%-100% what the street vendors were selling for. It all depends on how much you are a casual gamer and how much business you want to have - the true competition for me is the power-gamer Masters with Guild or friend backing that do tremendous volume and can afford to sell much closer to cost and still rake in the bucks. I will probably make as many tents as my crate of panels will allow (6) and then that's it unless a friend makes a special request. I have already made 4, 2 of which I am using and 2 that I stuck on my vendor. Funny thing about street sellers is that on my way to Master, anyone I saw selling small houses for 5k or mediums for 40k or less I would buy them and resell them at 30%-50% markup - one less consumer with "dirt cheap" expectations and free money for me was my logic, and I always had a good variety of stock without having to make everything myself.
