With the recent Image Designer revamp we merchants was hit by something I've named "The Chunk-Of-Ugly-Curse".
We thought we had it bad before with ourmummified, obese vendors with odd facial features.
But look what we have now; mummified, obese vendors with odd facial features+ a zillion different neon colors!
After cycling through 137 female, twi'lek vendors for my tailor shop I finally managed to get one that did look quite ok (except the fact that her lips are so large and orange that you could use her as a fog light).
- I do NOTwant an overweight,300 year old twi'lek with bright yellow skin, dark purple markings, neon green lipstick and blood red eye shadow! Nor do I wish to cycle through hundreds upon hundred of similiar horribly ugly vendors before I get one that look "ok-ish".
- I want my customers to stay in my shop and smile due to pleasant vendors and decor... not have them running away screaming, bleeding from their eyes.
Something really has to be done about this. So here's my suggestion for improvement and interdependancy:
#1 Allow merchants to modify the vendor upon creation with the 'base-palette'
#2Give Image Designers the possibility to "design" our vendors with the advanced palette.
#3 While we're at it, allow Droid Engineers to paint our droid vendors so we can get some diversity on those aswell.
I honestly don't think that the above 3 suggestions would be to hard to implement. Something with the /consent-feature perhaps?
So... is it even possible to get a dev to see this prayer?
And... what do the rest of you think?
(And remember, a high-rated post attracts more viewers)

I agree with this completely! I have spent far too long sifting through humans with bright yellow hair, and red eyebrows, with an even more hidious color of lipstick...its not even that they make um so ugly (ok well that is annoying ) but the randomness causes them not to match in something that they should (eyebrows and hair?) but yeah i think that is an excelent idea

Sure, for those that like wookies that is an option... but what about the rest of us?

This is discrimination and youve all been reported to the Imperial Equal Opportunity Commission.

It should not be difficult to limit the variables on vendors. Just use the same vendor pool as the skill trainers.

omg, my stomach hurts from laughing with you guys in this thread! This is so true! I ended up keeping a few of my fat vendors just because I couldn't seem to get anything BUT. My last vendor I wanted to create as a 'boytoy' for myself.....but noooo - I just couldn't get the drop dead human babe I was looking for (I'm not a female pig really! Just, um..wanted some NPC company is all). Well I finally got a nice looking human make....er....with light brown hair and um....pink sideburns and a slight pink beard. Um...ok - I can deal with that...I...guess.
Honestly though, when I achieved better hiring as I progressed up the merchant ladder, I expected not only to have more choices of races, but to be able to tweak the way they look. I was sorely disappointed in that.
Even so, my dearest boytoy Fabio with the pink facial hair has kinda grown on me. Can't complain too much I suppose.

i've found that male Woookie vendors tend to come with the least color varieties...As it turns out, i've kept three vendors and all of them are male Wookies. They are in a mall with 10-12 other vendors so I wanted them to stick out a little. At the time there were no other Wookie vendors in there (still aren't) so I selected Wookies so as to both be a little original in the mall and to have my wookies stick out in the crown since they are almost a head taller than the rest of the npc vendors. Its kinda cool when most vendors are around the same height with their names overlapping and my vendors stick above them without any name-overlap or problem seeing them.
I know this doesn't really help with a solution to you problem, but it is small option to make your vendor aesthetically pleasing without crazy colors and stick out at the same time.
Just a thought.

I end up going with droids or some freaky look alien. The twileks, humans and even zabraks always, for me, come up either old, really old or old and fat.
I agree there should be a way to fix em up a bit. and it would give the image designers one more ave. for makeing money. Not that they need it.

Being able to ID the vendors is something that is in the works from what I understand. Tehre are some complications in the implementation, but this was something that the ID community wanted, it's just getting the DEVs to find the time to do it.

our profession problems is kinda sad. Do you guys realize we are one of the only profession that has not been changed since launch? Only change we got were exterior changes like barkers and tents. Other than that, those two have no impact on what we do as merchants vendor wise, we have had no changes and our so called Merchant Revamp is being treated as the dev's **edit** child. Sigh.

Ah, but you are mistaken.
You forget that they nerfed our xp!
Good thing I got in under the wire.

I keep saying that the best way to go about allowing us some control on our vendor looks is to allow usage of the craftable customization kits...
1) DEs already make droid customization, just allow usage on droid vendors as well...
2) Master Artisan make vehicle customization kits, just allow usage on terminal vendors...
3)Add customization kits for Image Designers to craft:
a) Dye Kit that would allow changes to hair color. It could be useable on creature pets as well as NPC vendors that have hair. Maybe limit it to the basic range and also allow usage by players on themselves, but advanced coloring would be done face-to-face with the ID.
b) Tattoo Kit that would allow tattoo changes including colorization. Useable on on NPC vendors, and maybe players on themselves with a basic range.
c)Makeover Kit to allow changes to weight, age/wrinkles, and muscle tone.
All other ID changes and the advanced ranges not covered by the kits would require teh ID to perform hands-on work... Maybe add a consent command to allow changes to vendors only for one session similar to the current ID sessions with the pricing and accept features...

NO NO NO!!!!
Don't you understand? The process of making us go through 100 vendors to find a single one that is not HIDEOUS is a TIME SINK. SOE does not want you to actually play the game! This is why you wait for shuttles, wait for heals, wait for groups, wait for apprentice points, wait for buffs, and my all time favorite time sink of them all.....
CRAFTER GRINDING!!!!!!!
And this one is so dear to them they are going to make it better and l o n g e r by nerfing macros!!!!
There must be some logic or money savings attached tot he desire to have us do endless waiting and mindless repetion and, my fellow merchants, this is ours!!!
