If you are as honorable as you say you are, drop the vendor. Period. What you talk about is exploiting. You will be hated by the Merchant community.
Hologrinding is about sacrifice. Step up to the plate and do it.

yeah gee thanks a lot for the 'step up to the plate' comment on my sincere and concerning question. I appreciate that I can be hated so easily by asking for advice.
Well what would you expect when you say that "Ok I'm sure you guys and gals are tired of hearing about this, but I'm not just abusing the skill by dropping a vendor and ditching the skill." You are abusing the skill. You areadvocating exploiting, even if its for a little while. You think that is going to make us happy?
We all have to live in a environment of limited skill points, so why steal the skills? If you are concentrating on mastering yet another hologrind profession, yet you still want the vendors, drop another line from another profession.
Just don't exploit. I don't care how magnanimous your intentions are.

I havn't seen any dev ever calling this an exploit. I do agree that you should have to have the skills to maintain a vendor but that is just not the way it is atm. Everyone plays by the same rules and the rules at present are you can set a vendor then drop the skills and keep it. Hopefully this will change as iit will really clean up the planetary map and increase business for those that retain merchant but until then go get your jedi! It is not concidered an exploit by the people that matter.

nothing bad happens at all. your vendors stay right where they are, and work like normal. you just can't make any changes to them. But you can still add items and maintence and all that good stuff. So just drop merchant and remaster it later if you need the skill points. no big deal.
It is a very big deal to merchants who invest and keep the skillpoints. You are STEALING from us with every exploit sale you make. THIS IS A CONFIRMED EXPLOIT! What part of that don't you understand?

Well if you like stealing skills, becoming a pariah in the SWG community, and being labeled an exploiter like DragonScout here, who is a complete and utter moron for advocating the exploitation of the sklill, sure its no big deal.
This falls into the category of doubleslicing, the autotargetting turrets, and the auto speeder fix bugs. All were fixed and most that exploited paid a heavy price once the bugs had been fixed. If I were smart, I wouldn't follow the advice of idiots like Dragon who advocated the destruction of the economic system that SOE advocated. You will lose your ass in the end.

Thunderheart did confirm this as an exploit.
