yes,
like in several other threads i totally agree here.
its a braindead feature right now and makes no sense at all.
i got really no clue what the responsible dev thought when he got that idea /shrug
plus its so easy to fix, really easy.
make it from
empty OR untouched
to
empty AND untouched
period.
the skill need fix is enough to keep now track of people and make sure they got the skills to maintain a vendor at all, plus the item limit change.
all in all the new vendor changes are good for the merchant profession , BESIDE this untouched issue, which is definately out of line.
as you said, when you got the skills, pay maintain and got items inside your vednor there is NO, nada, not even 1 point why it should get deleted.
DocSavac, kick the devs on the feet, do it hard, this issue is top priority imo and they NEED to act fast (we wait already what? 2 weeks, nothing from them)

I have to agree.
I would also like tolodge the following complaint: Ipersonally feel that I have been lied to and cheated by the people who manage this game at this point. While whistling the tune of granting meadditional vendors, a "delete if abandoned" policy that defines non-empty vendors that are actually serving a legitimate sales function as "abandoned" was put in place with no explanation or warning. This abandonment policy towards vendors is so singularly destructive to the profession, IMO, that it renders theadditional vendors that this new publish has granted completely useless.

How about just changing it to only empty vendors being deleted after a period of time? Two weeks may be too short. Perhaps three weeks.
I have my vendors in a free vendor mall which is very well setup. However, things are somewhat spoilt by the empty vendors that have been abandoned for whatever reason, most likely the owner leaving the game. If these vendors were to be deleted in say two-three weeks, it would be beneficial to everyone involved.
Deleting untouched vendors is pure rubbish though. I'll be going on vacation for a month in December and I really hope this gets fixed before then.

I finally got an answerabout the untouched email. This is what he wrote:
We suspect that these emails are simple errors due to the conversion from the old system to the new. We haven't had any reports of vendors actually being deleted. What's supposed to happen, is EMPTY vendors that are untouched for two weeks are deleted. That can total to 74 days from the placement of a sale - 30 days for sale, 30 days with an occupied store room, and 14 days of inactivity. I wouldn't worry much about this, as long as the vendor is stocked you should be fine.
Sincerely,
CSR Jon W
That made me feel a bit better, and I really appreciated his thorough response. But until I actually see that announced somewhere, I'm still going to worry.

sigh. I hope it is true. It's not what our correspondent said though so I am still worried.
Of course, the argument offered by the CSR that "we have had no reports of non-empty vendors being deleted because of this" is completely NULL and pointless. If they are going to be deleted, not enough time has passed to find out.

Followed closely by the campaign to have CSRs stop saying they cannot help us when the truth is they can replace ANYTHING that has existed in the game, ever.

I said I didn't know and that a literal reading of the patch notes seemed to indicate there was a flat inactivity timer. I haven't gotten any dev response on that question though I have asked three times for one. The CSR's position that it has to be empty squares with what I believed before the patch notes came out and those emails started.

I posted again today quoting that CSR response and asked for clarification on how the code works.

CSRs confused/lying? The horror! I would have never believed it possible.

This is the very defintion of time sensitive issue. We need Dev assurance now, that our fully stocked vendors will NOT be deleted with stock on them, if we have the proper skills/maintenance to operate said vendors.
I just receieved email on 2 of my 3 vendors, stating they have not been "touched" in a long time (???) and would be deleted! This is completely unacceptable.
We don't need Dev apologies after our stocked vendors have been consigned to the Great Abyss. We need swift action.
I tried the fixes posted on the forum thus far, and the results of those "fixes" make no sense. Case in point, I de-listed everything off of one of the two vendors I got emailed on, and relisted one item, and poof, new email: Vendor is operating normally. The other, I delisted one item, and retrieved it, and then resold the item back to the vendor. No email!!! Does that mean that vendor is going to be deleted in a week????
This is frustrating beyond belief. Dev response should be as swift as these in-game emails are.
Here are some hard and fast rules the Devs should adhere to immediately:
1. Vendors with
- Maintenance
- Items
- The proper merchant skills
SHOULD NEVER BE DELETED. EVER. Are theypurposefully on acampaign to piss merchants off? I can't think of a better way to do it.
2. Vendors that are empty may be taken off the planet map, and in two weeks, deleted.
3. The specific vendor models (clothes, height, etc) deleted in this fashion, if NPC's, should be saved locally and available for immediate recall by the merchant once he/she gets back from vacation/hurricane/emergency/someREAL LIFE BUSINESS.
I think I will not be alone in becoming extremely upset if vendors with items get forcefully deleted, because I can't stroke them a certain wayeach and every week.
Simply unbelievable.

I too gotthis email today that said that my vendor has been abandoned and will be deleted. I sold a pet on this vendor just last weekend. What the ...... Granted items are not selling on this vendorlike hot cakesbut it has 33 items on it, i have the points for the vendor, and I'm not even using it for storage. The patch notes only states that empty vendors will be deleted. For now I guess I will play the game and have someone in my guild buy something from the vendor. But SOE please tell us what is up because we are all starting to get a little fed up with this BS. It would take them how long to sticky a post at the top stating that we F'd up and this is an eroneous email.

/agree EXCEPT
2 weeks on any limit is not enough time. What if I want to go on vacation / get sick / business trip? If a vendor has Maint in it there is no reason to delete it, ever. What's the difference between my vendor and the house it's in?
But in any case this is just nuts, I have 30 days for the stuff but a week or less for the vendor? (I know it's a bug, so fix it already. )

I recieved a couple of these emails, once the vendors that they were talking about were activated on the map. So far they appear to be running fine.
I think its what they said, a conversion glitch.
