Thread: 14 months worth of items in my vendor that is going to be removed from the game
As for the email you received that only means you have to go access your vendor. The vendor believes it has been "abandoned" if you do not personally access your vendor atleast once in a 2 week period.

You can't possibly expect to be able to have vendors without the skills. I keep multiple houses put down for just that. I have used my factories for storage as well. If a crafter like myself decided well, today I want to go kill a high level creature, should we be able to do it without a combat skill? By making that post you have insulted every person who has taken the time to master the merchant profession.

Why I turned to vendors as storage.
5 small generic houses hold 750 items
5 storage droids holds 50 items
1 character holds 60 items and an additional 50 with a backpack equipped for a total of 110 items
Max total of 1010 items.
At 6 months into the game I went back to my 5 small generic houses to find that I did not have enough room to remove my backpack. I proceeded to delete all items that I absolutely didn't need to keep and reorganizing all the empty space to one house. I came up 10 items short from being able to remove my backpack. At this point I began looking into alternative means of storage.

Well there's part of your problem. Houses are 2 lots and hold 150 items where factories are 1 lot and hold 100 items (200 if you leave crafted components in the out hopper). Instead of 5 houses use 10 factories. 1000 items instead of 750. Add the other 260 for a total of 1260. Or put 10 small houses on Naboo which are only 1 lot. That would be 1760 total items.
And if you still need additional storage find some friends. Perhaps a merchant in your guild who you can trust not to delete a vendor. Or better yet, sell some of that crap. There's no way you can have over 1000 items of real importance.

Make a character on Starsider and I will show youwhat I have. I delete junk. Just because you can't imagine having that many good items, doesn't mean that I don't.

I'm not saying you can't have 1000 good items. I could have tens of thousands of "good" items by now. My assets (cash + resources + items) are in the 800mil to 1billion range and I still have no where near 1000 items of significant importance. I.e. something I can't simply replace in a heartbeat.

I should have responded to this part earlier. Yes you can buy an (exceptional)CDEF pistol that has a 600 point poison tick that will last for 3 minutes per 1 successfullhitdoing 10,800 damage(posion ticks every 10 seconds, 3 minutes is 180 seconds, which is 18 ticks. 18 times 600 is 10,800). You will have topay an arm and a leg for one like that but they exist. If I could loot, or buy storage I would evenif it cost me 10 million credits I wouldn't hesitate, that is how impportant storage is to me. If you really had a strong enough desire to fight without even novice marksman you could do quite well.

When I say good, it is an understatement, I have stuff that most people will not believe until they see it. I have friends that come to my house and then say "OMG" "Do you have any idea whatthis is worth?" I am not talking about good items, I am talking about stuff that can not be bought. I was going to incorperate my looted items in my Laboratory that I was decorating, but I don't know if I can remaster merchant fast enough to prevent my Laboratory NPC's from being deleted. Those vendors took days to generate and days to place in the right spots.
Why does it even matter? I have paid and played for 14 months, all I want is about 1500-2000 storage. Having all factories is a nightmare, I have tried that. Why does it matter if I want a storage device that organizes, and stores my items in one spot? I will be a merchant that does not sell anything I have excepted that fact. What I don't get isthis: I can not leave the vendors alone for 2 weeks? I dropped merchant to level medic because you can not take Sivarra's quest in the village without being a Master Medic. I Relisted everything all 2000 items before dropping merchant. I was under the impression that I had at least 30 days to remaster.
I don't understand the masacistic behavior in the Merchant profession. Why does this profession have to make a player more neurotic then need be? This profession needs a lot of work to make it worth keeping instead of being forced to keep it. This is part of what I would like to see happen to Merchant:
When I was a Weaponsmith I would gladly make an item with components for free if I received the same amount/quality of the components for free. Most combat players like being able to trade an item for an item; doing missions for money is boring as hell. Going to Dathomir or Endor or anywhere hard to hunt big game is fun but ends up costing the combat player lots of money, through the destruction of that combat players equipment. When I play as a combat player I want to roam and fight and chase big game, I do not like running missions over and over to pay for equipment to go out to fight big game for a couple days and then repeat the process again. That is why offering 1:1 trades for equipment is great; the crafter ends up with a multi use schematic or enough components to make a nice item to sell, all at the cost of buying/harvesting resources. The combat player gets a nice piece of equipment to use or sell. Both players end up happy, but the game makes that process difficult right now.
I want [select item from a list of items] I am supplying these components [drop items in item to be crafted window] and I am offering these in payment [drop items into a trade box]. When the crafter or merchant receives the package they would add the additional required components/resources to the [item to be crafted box] and craft the item. The delivery package would prevent the crafter/merchant from actually taking possession of those items, that way nothing can be stolen. The combat player would have given the reward part to the NPC/mail delivery terminal; this would prevent that player from not following through on a completed deal. As a crafter I couldn't always stop everything to make an item, and then when I did have time the player I made it for was either on another planet or off line. Playing email tag is frustrating and not having a secure delivery system is frustrating. If such a delivery system for these packages existed and involved generating a mission for actual players, that would make thing interesting. Pay high, fast delivery, pay to little and you have to wait until a desperate player takes that mission.
Merchant got nerfed. Deal with it.
And BTW I still don't think you got 1000 items that people would say "OMG" "Do you have any idea what this is worth?" Unless you're a big time exploiter thats just not plausable. Everyone has their gems but come on. There's only so many +25 tapes and exceptional weapons you can get.
Your problem is storage, it has nothing to do with being a merchant.
You, like alot of people used the merchant skill to solve that problem.
By doing this you created problems that affect merchants (real one) much more than you or than you can imagine.
That's why merchant aren't fond of people behaving like you.
Your problem has nothing to do with the merchant profession, but the solution you found for your problem does, and create problems for that profession.
Now for the 2 weeks abbandonned vendor thing, may I suggest you grind business 3 (about 30 minutes) to check your vendors.
Now, i do play since december, I am a Master crafter, I am a Master elite combat profession, I do have vendors.
But I do not use my vendor as storage.
And I don't have a house on my own.
If you need room, just sell stuff.

My worst nightmare is coming true. If my vendors are auto deleted by the server before I can reacquire the skills my 14 months of playing will be over. I planned on having at least 30 days to drop and then remaster before my vendor got into trouble.
You must have been listening to the idiot that kept claiming to be able to continue exploiting a vendor for storage without the skill point usage. What you are experiencing is proof that it can't be done OR is simply a pain in the ass with considerable risk at best.
This is all a result of the "screw everyone" "give them the bird" mentality on this board. I have wanted to post my ideas in here many times in the past 6 months but each time I decided not to because of the venom and short sighted hatred that covers this profession forum.
So you knew this was coming for 6 months now? AND you chose to ignore it?
There is no sympathy for those that just need storage or don't fit the combat only crafter only template.
There is no sympathy for people that want to use the functions and benefits of another profession without spending the skill points to keep those functions and benefits.
The only reason I posted in the last month was because I feared something like this would happen.
You can post to your heart's content, but it won't solve you storage issues.
1.) Do not delete vendors in a house that belongs to that vendor owner.
Vendors that are operated/owned by people that no longer possess the appropriate skills NEED to be deleted. PERIOD.
2.) Allow vendors for storage and just restrict a "non-owner" from using it, after all I have played and paid for 14 months, if its hardware based then upgrade. Deleting vendors like this is idiotic.
DO NOT allow ANY vendors to be used for storage by people that DO NOT possess the proper skills to have a vendor.
All I wanted was storage and NPC's as decoration, now I will lose everything because I did not buy a second account to use as a "mule".
You aren't ENTITLED to use another profession's benefits without spending the skill points. Whether or not you purchase a 2nd account is a not an issue in this arguement if you planned ahead.
I don't want to quit but if I lose my vendor with everything on it, I am left with no choice.
You ALWAYS have a choice. You have a choice to get merchant skills. You have a choice to do some housekeeping and get rid of some of your stuff. You have a choice of getting friends to help you out with your problem. Your decision to quit playing is also a CHOICE.
This is a huge mess. I never thought Merchant would be the profession to death blow the game for me.
No, your packrat mentality is the "deathblow" in this game for you. 5 small genric houses + a bank safety deposit box = 850 items. There is NOTHING you can say to convince me, or anyone else here, that you have over 850 items that you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE laying around. Stockpiling stuff that you MIGHT use in the future is an absolutely absurd excusefor demanding that you are entitled to use another profession's skills/benefits for the sole purpose of having a bottomless pitfor storage.
Why is the Merchant profession making this game impossible to enjoy?
Its enjoyable to the people that actually sell something. Its a chore for people that use vendors as their basement.
