Personally, I think we're in for a big shift soon here.
Issue1. With the merchant nerf, many people are giving up their part time crafting/resource business because they are too much trouble and they cannot spare the skill credits. I see clearance auctions everywhere from people going out of business and trying to make space, the market is literally flooded with items and resources at rockbottom prices. BUT, In a month, these excesses will be mostly gone, and even the stockpiles that do remain will not be able to be sold effectively because of the merchant limitations. Probably 1/2-2/3 of the merchant competition will be non-existant in a month.
Issue 2. The "village" for the path to force sensitivity will herald a new age of grinding that could easily surpass the January holo-craze. What this means is mass consumption on a large scale. 5 million resources to grind out one force sensitve crafting path, 300+ hours of combat xp hunting to get to jedi, etc. These grinding efforts make the hologrinding look like child's play. And all these people will need huge amounts of supplies of course - demand will be skyrocketing on certain items.
Combine these two issues and we are quickly going to be looking at some rather extensive supply crunches. So from a merchant perspective, where is a good place to be? The galaxy is soon going to need merchants in the worst way, how can we serve... and line our pockets in the process
Number 1 is a good thing ... merchants that should not be merchants getting out of the business ...
Number 2? I don't think it will be that serious ... as the village goes through stages that are supposed to be a good deal apart so you can't "grind to jedi" ... not unless you are running 10 characters on 10 servers and you have a very limited time to grind :-)
Remember ... in the past you had to grind to level X and as soon as you did that grind to level Y and as soon as you did that grind to level Z ... this is what caused most of the resources issues.
Now you will grind to level X ... stop ... wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, grind to level Y, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, grind to level Z, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,
That might just space out some of that grinding a good deal ... and those folks might actually "harvest" their own resources ... so it's more like this:
Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest,Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, grind to level X, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, grind to level Y, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, Harvest, grind to level Z
Well ... it could happen like that :-)

1/ On the vendor thingie...
When items in the storeroom don't count to your maximum number, only lazy peoplewill sell out too cheap, IMHO.
2/ On the grinding.
The grinding will getworsein a certain way because everyone wants togrind out THE EXACT SAME THING : the thing that gives the fastest FS-xp. It will be intresting to see how that works out...

From what I've seen, people are talking about having to grind 3 hours per day for 15 weeks straight in order to get to jedi. For powergamers that are going to grind for 8 hours a day, I guess they will be doing some waiting, but I think most people will have a hard time keeping up with the village phases even spaced apart 3 weeks as they are.
Hmmmm, whats the fastest way to get crafting xp across all professions? ore + gemstone?

I think the devs are trying to make it the same for all professions with their different ratios. We'll see how well they succeeded.

1) Yup, already happening. The 'big' crafters are getting bigger since the smaller shops are closing up - and they're buying out the accumulated good resources so they can make more.
2) Not sure how much 'grind' there will be. It will certainly increase the demand for 'junk' resources, but not by a large margin because of spacing it out, and because of the mass quantities needed.

Architects only get 1 force xp for 30 architect xp. Since you need 1,275,000 force xp for one branch that's like 37.5 million architect xp for one branch, which will take something like 20 million units of resources for an architect doing statues. While it will be very fast it will also be very expensive. 20 million units of ore and gemstone for just that one branch will likely cost between 40 and 80 million credits. If you grinded something with weaponsmith it'd only cost you 1/6th as much since they get a 1:5 ratio though it'd take a heck of alot more combines to get the xp you need.

The VAHI corporation of Valcyn is going to just keep harvesting massive amounts of resources and selling them like business as usual. I think that in the chaos to come people will need a stable outlet to rely on. Oh, we might have to drop prices a little, for a while. But prices will be right back up again soon when everyone will be grinding for jedi, not to mention grinding for shipwright. And I can't wait for the competition to go away.

14 days since this post, and I'm not seeing anything like this on the horizon so far.

Hero, on number 1, I fail to see how a lesser number of people selling goods is a good thing. All it makes for is less shops, lesser availability, and higher prices. So unless you like the above, it's not a good thing.
And I have seen vender blow out sales and ones closing because of this pointless nerf that people who bitched, thought it never really affected then other than lowering prices. All those who keep a vender to sell loots are now going out of business because of this P.O.S skill point drain. I know you don't do much more than constant craft for a living Hero, or as I have seen from how you act, but you need to look at it more than just from the 'Oh good, I'll have more business now that other people are giving it up' aspect.
Try to actually make a living off non constant crafting of goods and you might have a real idea.
I'm glad bitchy merchants got their wish to ruin the economy.
