The economy post patch 10 is going to be even more messed up than you said.

1) Illegitimate Merchants can't move product.

2) Legitimate Merchants are bugged and can't move product

3) Harvesters are full of random resources so crafters can't necessarily make new product.

All those who keep a vender to sell loots are now going out of business because of this P.O.S skill point drain.

Actually the flip side to this is that those who ONLY sell loot need to reevaluate just how much their loot is worth. Just because you looted it doesn't mean its worth anything. So the good side of this is a decrease in the cost of looted components and schematics to a sane level. Those that have the same looted itemssitting on their vendors should start to realize is that loot is the "real" P.O.S. and not the skill point drain.

Try to actually make a living off non constant crafting of goods and you might have a real idea.

The "real idea" is actually that only less than 10% of all looted items have any significant value. Making "a living" off of loot is a lottery ticket. Sometimes you hit the big bucks, but most of the time its just junk and it should be priced accordingly.

I'm glad bitchy merchants got their wish to ruin the economy.

Yes and I'll be glad when all the professional looters get a clue and realize that to participate in this economy that they'll have to reduce their prices because looters are a dime a dozen.

my sales are down since people left to camp on danthomir.

I even over stocked my wares thinking there would be a rush of sales... I sell vehicles and for architech it's all on demand custom builds.

Chef wise, not having problem selling things. However, finding the stuff I need now is VERY hard....

I'm just lucky I got enough meat to make me enough additives to last me a few weeks for my chef food, but once that runs out, have no clue. I already know quite a few of the suppliers that use to make it stop making it and selling it on their vendor cause:

1> They're dropping merchant skills

or

2> Doing the new jedi quest things

So in a way nothing really changed much. People are dropping skills still and just getting the most popular skills that's known for getting the exp the fastest.....

Of course people don't have to drop their current skills to do it, but a lot of people are anyways... like I said, to get the professoins that give the most exp.... combat is the most popular one.

PS: Economy imo is not looking fair. Even the most popular cities (trade city) have like 6-7 vendors top that's even advertised on the planetary map. I already know al ot of people who ended up just dropping merchant and crafting to free up skills for either the new FS quests or just don't want the hassle of trying to find a merchant they can trust to put it up for them to sell.

Well to be subjective, each server is quite different. After looking at the planetary map on the big 3 (Corellia, Naboo, Tatooine)on Kettemoor, I can't see much change in the amount of vendors showing up.

I think that is exactly what you would expect. Vendors will migrate to the most traveled areas of the galaxy. PC cities are doomed as a viable market. If you want to make money cnet is the place to be, moreso now than pre-patch.

Non merchants shouldn't have the ability to list/pick up offers from their vendors period as it sits now. On my server at least, I'm still not seeing the stampede to liquidate stocks and get out of business before things hit.

The economy in this game is very liquid, and I have no doubts it will survive things like this thrown at it. We've survived other "nerfs" and dupes in the last year, there shouldn't be any problems surviving this.

Just as proof of the continual doom and gloom that gets forcasted for this games economy, just type "economy" into the search bar at the bottom of the page (if you can get it to work for you, it's a little cantankerous at times) and spend a while digging through a years worth of posts about how the economy is borked/going to tank/inflated/dying..etc.

I've been reading "the economy of SWG is dying" posts since last October. Pasta certain point, you simply cease to listen, kind of like the folks on street corners with their "Repent Now, The End Is Nigh" signs.

Well the idea I was trying to get across is that it seems the number of vendors hasn't changed. I don't see a ton of new vendors on the scene, and I see plenty of old familiar ones on those planets, and that includes the vendors in PC cities.

As far as PC cities viability goes, I think its a little early into it to call them doomed don't you?

It will take a full month to run its course though - thats when non-merchants will loose their ability to list things. I think the market right now is actually flooded with people trying to sell out of markets while they still have the ability. In 2 more weeks, you will see a *lot* of empty vendors. In 4 more weeks you will see those vendors deleted by the new game mechanics.

Personally I am somewhat estatic to find out what the economy will be like without all the players utilizing vendors that they do not have skill points allocated for. Definitely going to change a few things. I really think for the better.

The shift on Bria is pretty dramatic, mostly in part to the entire server deciding that they want to be uber jedi and save the known universe ummmmmm k well thats fine cept when your out grinding FS xp a majority of my combat based customers want very specific items and the volume resource buyers only for the most part want grind resources for what ever path they have decided to take. As a merchant its my job to figure this out and shift with the demand and supply that this new situation has created. By working with other merchants it seems the best way is still the mall setup but restricting it so that there is no duplication of vendor offerings. Also to elminate all other vendors supplies in the immediate area strip em clean and re-sell on my vendors, yes im aware thats a monopoly issue but there is no federal regulatory committee so the only limits are my avaiable funds. Basically hook up with other merchants, create a mall, monopolize the area and bark 24/7.

Now a example of the shift, my mall is north of mos eisley with about 12 vendors, selling components, resources, weapons etc no duplication. Ive noticed in the last month since pre 10 patch a dramatic increase in close out vendors which i stripped immidiately. A week after publish and map fix, factories and buildings started to disappear. While out placing harvestors in the immidiate area the amount of empty space was shocking usually after a major resource shift I would have to fight for space to place my equipment. Not anymore, I literaly placed at my lesiure in some prime percentage zones. I realize this is a small bubble of geography im describing but its so visualy dramatic it clearly has to do with the merchant shift and FS grind.

Now what does this all mean, it means solutions need to be explored and challenges met, cool bout time I have something different to do which is fine by me.

Loot economy IMO is now back in line the market is flooded and prices have come down a ton. I still think the AV market is silly but oh well life is life.

Also not sure if anyone else has noticed but the bazzar/public markets are way down on volume. Use to be that Mos Eisley has 4 pages of Inorganics/minerals literally pulled up only 32 items of minerals ive never seen that before lol. So clearly people arent harvesting.

All i can say is that this shift just means we need to figure what to do next im tired of wondering about devs and CSRs lets take what we have and do what we can may be kind of fun create an entirely new economy out of this.

BSU mall currently seeking Archetict, Droid and Chef on Bria server just north of Mos Eisley, feel free to email Bavi with any questions.

Post Pub 10 economy has alot more to deal with than Merchant nerfs. What about September 21st when droves of people switch to Star Wars Battlefronts. I'll be playing the new Warhammer 40k game on the 20th. Then there will be EQ2 and WoW to compete with near XMas. Do you think all the old timers who run the megashops will stick around forever?
