I know that if you drop hiring 4 your vendors stay dressed, they just can't be re-uniformed.

But what if you start dropping management levels? Will merchants simply dissappear or what?

Fool that I am I am hoping to open FSCS before publish 10 and I need the points for the grinding effort but at heart I am a tailor and merchant and maintain a well stocked shop with mutiple vendors.

You wil have the undying hatred of all merchants for attempting to using our skill for free, and exploiting the merchants profession to extinction.

Don't exploit. If you want to keep the vendors, find some other skill points to free up.

I certainly understand your sentiment, as I said, I am by choice a mster merchant and a master tailor. If it were up to me, I would remain that way but because if the requirements of the holocron and especially some of the hybrid professions, I must free up something and I can't afford to drop tailor stuff since I would be unable to restock.

I have been a proponent of the idea from the start that the merchant skill tree should require less points so it wouldn't always be the first thing people dropped.

For the record, I feel I have earned these benefits so I won't feel bad about it, knowing that one day I will return to being a master merchant.

So, if I drop management, what happens? besides the hatred thing?

I also like the idea that the game shuld give you enough extra skill points when you receive a holocron mission to add the profession without changing your character. The points should only be useable for that profession and should expire after like 2 months or something so knowbody gets to Uber and just sits.

nothing happens and nothing will happen for at least a few more publishes.

It is a low priority issue.

I use it all the time as I like to be a master tailor/master artisan/master rifleman. I give up artisan now and then and drop a few vendors and then drop that skill and level up advertising and then drop that and keep all the nice globally advertised vendors. Everyone in my mall does the same darn thing as well. In fact there probably wouldn't be a mall there if this was not possible. It would really suck for the non crafters I can tell you that.

I just like to fight and craft though and I refuse to pay for a second account just for fighting. This game is not that much fun. I think 15 bucks a month for a fighter/crafter is just about right.

If master merchants are upset they just need to chill out and wait for the patch. by then we should all have a second jedi slot and be able to have those extra skill points for merchant anyway. I hear we will be able to use the second slot any way we wish. I will probably use mine as a pilot/merchant. I mean who needs a jewdi when the space expension comes out uless they allow jedi skills in space.

It always comes down to the holo grinders that continue to lead the charge of ruining this profession by exploiting.

I don't care how sincere you are about wanting to return as alegit merchant after you finish the holo grind. The fact is that both of you are planning or have already exploited the game for your personal benefit while putting it to the true merchants.

The whole idea with the hologrinding is to SACRIFICE skills in order to obtain a higher level of profession. Both of you want your cake and eat it too. You want the prize. You just don't want to pay for it. Why not remove a few skill points from your precious Tailor or Rifleman profession, if you are so intnent on keeping the vendors. You just wont be able to make those floppy hats, jumpsuits or evening gowns for a couple of weeks, but as you said, it would only be temporary.

Better yet wait the month for the release of Build 10. I have it on good information that your grind will be prorated when it comes to becoming a jedi in the new system anyways. Just don't steal our skills no matter how temporary it is.

And Bluude, I am not going to "Chill out" as long as you are stealing skills from me. It is a horrendous actthat you perputrate when you exploit against the merchant profession, thus I will call you out every time you boast it.

Wow, there are definitely some issues here. I completely agree with a Merchant revision. For most, it has no value since it can be dropped easily and that needs to change. Every profession should have a purpose/value. On the other hand, just like anything else in the game....use it until it changes. There are so few people that can be trusted to run your vendor that you have to have your own. Also, the wholesale thing rarely works....how many beginner merchants are rich enough to buy stock before they sell it??? So, as long as it is possible to learn the skills and drop them with no loss, people should not be condemned for doing so. jmho

Then I want to be a Master Scout. Right here and now. I have more then enough XP to do it, but I had to drop the skills in order to get Master Merchant. I figure if every other person can steal my skills, shouldn't I have an oppertunity to steal theirs and really screw over the skill system?

Come on. Please.

I'll continue to condemn them until the cows come home.

If you drop merchant skills nothing happens. Your vendors remain in the world and you can add/delete items just as usual. You just won't be able to remove them and replace them.

If you really want to give up merchant, then do the "honorable" thing and delete the appropriate vendors. You should be able to drop most of Merchant and get to master of any other profession and still keep Novice Merchant and two "legal" vendors. (Unless you want to master BH, but you would have to drop Tailor to do that anyway).

Your minimum template to maintain Tailor and at least 2 legal vendor's:

  • Artisan 0-4-4-0 (43)

  • Master Tailor (63)

  • Novice Merchant (6)

  • Total Points Used: (109)

  • Points required to master other professions:

    • Basic Professions: 73

    • Elite Professions 63+ Prerequs in basic skills

With a few exceptions you should be able to master one Basic profession and one Elite Profession based on the Basic one such as"

Master Ranger - This requires Master Scout, and with your retained skills leaves you with 5 app points.

Good luck with the holo grind. You are going to need to master at least 20 professions before publish 10 comes out!

Ok, well here isa legitimate, unexploitive question. I have Nov Merch and Hiring 1. I only use 1 vendor, but wanted the ability to have a NPC vendor. Now I am climbing the smuggler profession and find that I will need to drop Merchant back down to business 3. Seeing as how I only ever use 1 vendor, I'm not losing anything except that at business 3, I would not be able to have a NPC vendor. What will happen when I drop those merch skills? If I don't drop a bulky and shift everything over from the NPC, will I lose everything on that vendor? Will I get "nerfed" when they patch for the exploits currently being used? Thanks for the help.

The answer currently is nothing happens. I don't know how vendors like that will be handled once they address the skill check system.
