The order thevendors load up everyday determines your place on the vendor list for global advertising. However, daily server maintenance has been suspended. What does this mean for my vendor? Will I be stuck in the middle and the end of thelist (because I just moved some vendors around last night) until they decided to randomly shut down the servers?

I don't believe the reboot determines the order of the advertisement.
I unregistered my vendor last week in the middle of the day and re-registered it a few minutes later as a new category and the Registration was inserted near the top of the list. About 4 from the top in a list of more than a dozen in that category. It isn't likely that they "remember" what I was before I unregistered so the order must be being determined by something else. Age of vendor? I don't know but its not when you registered it.

Hmmm...I guess I just check my vendors at weird times when others hadn't loaded, so that it looks like it moves. I wish I knew what determined placement on the list. Actually I wish it was just alphabetical.

How anout sales tax resets. It used to be when you place an item on a vendor the sales tax does not get added to the amount until server reset. Has that changed?

Alphabetical would lead to everyone chanigng their vendors around to compete for the top spots. But I agree that I wish I knew and I've asked for an answer to that.

Mine doesn't do that. The sales tax gets added immeditely. Course that is pointless since sales tax is broken atm.

Maybe alphabetical would be bad, but I'd like some sense of organization to it. If I'm looking for aspecific shop, I hate staring at some huge long list that's in no logical order.

From what I've been able to determine, placement on the list is by vendor creation date. Just like how items default list in the vendor too. Creation date.
I have moved my shop several times. (I have wanderlust) In my current location, I created all my vendors in one day, within the space of just a few minutes. (this was before they changed it so you could only make one at a time.) They all were on the global list in the order I created them. Over the last few months I have moved vendors around, but using the same names for the new ones. The newest vendors are no longer grouped with the orignal ones, but fall much farther down on the list.
After server reset, only force loaded or high traffic populars vendors would be on the list. But if you check it again in the evening, the names drop down as more are added in. So I watched to see where certain vendor names would fall in the list as the day goes on.
The vendors on the top of the list (on my server/planet) are names I have seen for a long, long time, and as other older vendors have been removed, I have watched as the vendor names moved up in the list.
Oldest first. Young un's at the bottom.
But that's mypure-dee guess.

I really don't think people only look at the vendors at the top of the list. I generallyl look at vendors based on where they are. I click on vendors in the list until I find some near me and then I visit those and work outward. I'm not sure how to fairly move the names around by anything other than vendor age.

Shame we cant have Cheapest at the top. Might get some of the prices down on certain servers.

At least with server reset you had an opportunity to put your vendor at the top of the list for a few hours. Although I guess it's good I don't have to worry about my vendors loading up now!

I dont pay attention to placement either. I look for keywords in the title first, then I look at map location. I go where the highest concentration of vendors is. Lately it has been a little more likely I find what I look for, thanks heavens. Not always...but better.
