There's no good macro. The only thing they can do is to check your vendor's stock once per 15 minutes. You get a small amount of merchant xp that way. You also get a little xp if you set an entrance fee on your buildings and have people pay the fee every 15 minutes.

A far bettermacro is this one:

/placevendor

/logoff

/wait

Just place as many vendors as you can. You get quite a bit of xp per hour for doing nothing. You'll hit master in no time. Doesn't matter where you place them or who visits them. I put a bunch in my basement so they would be out of the way. It really doesn't speed it up much to have friends visit your vendors or pay the entrance fee.

As for customizing your vendors, the only way to change them is to kill them (hopefully my wife doesn't see this and get ideas). If they had good karma, they are reborn as an attractive vendor without pink hair. If they were thinking bad thoughts during the 2 minutes they were alive, they are reborn as short, fat, wrinkly old guys with a pink mohawk and orange clothes. Just create them, examine them, destroy them, and re-birth them. It's the circle of life for vendors (usually ugly life).

The XP will rack up faster the more merchants you place, even if no one looks at them. (Can't hurt to put a "control item" on them so your friends still can, to give you more XP.) It's slow at first, but it grows leaps and bounds as you add more vendors.

Actually there is a command for it.
I'll have to look it up when I get home, tho.

Honestly, unless you plan to have an army of players sitting around AFK accessing your vendors, the most you can get from one character is 300 xp per hour and it won't make a huge difference in your xp gain.

You'll get 150 xp per hour for EACH vendor you have active whether anyone clicks on it or not. That doesn't sound like a better deal, but you'll get that xp 24/7 and you don't have to sit parked in front of your vendor.

Now if you can get 6 or 8 people to sit at your vendors for hours while AFK, then you're on to something.

On the other side of that argument is that 1 xp is better than 0 xp so even the tiny little bit you'd get from AFKing a vendor is better than nothing.
