Ok, why SHOULD you be able to place and use a vendor that you dont have the skill to do so with? Dont worry, I'm prolly not going to reply to each and every reason, I just like to get a good laugh.

Fred,
I agree with your point, but there is one good idea for the entire player base, that in my mind should be handled differently, and that is a mailbox for deliveries. Right now a large number of people who have poached vendors like them for the ability to have items offered to them while they are offline. I think this is a needed function, and something should be added to the game to serve this function. It should not be a vendor. Each house should come with a mail box that can have up to 5 items offered to it, for free or COD. This would finally make having a house useful to combat folks who could care less about decorating or storage.
Until such a system is in place, getting rid of all the poached vendors will cause some folks hardship, since they no longer can easily exchange goods with people who they don't play with at the same time.

Because I don't want to use the skill credits for something as valueless as selling my junk that I collect from AFK-murdering Meatlumps! Or even as valueless as selling my uber DWB loot! WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Mkappas,
I think a number of us...including our Correspondent...favor some sort of limited mailbox sort of system that is limited in nature and can't be used to run a shop. (So it would have to have a small item limit like 5 and also hopefully not deliver it to the other person.) I think that unlimited numbers plus deliveries rather than take-it-there-yourself would make vendors obsolete as folks would just order what they wanted from smiths they know.
So long as one person has to travel to the drop-off location and there isa limit, I would like to see this functionality added. It would also be useful if only the particular named person could pick up the package. This would add needed functionality to merchants in the process in that we need some way to keep other people from buying our special orders.

Too fast with the mouse.
I misread the question, after replying to the other thread. My apologies.
And I agree, I can't think of a single reason.

Lannyen,
I think we did. Just as merchants are requested to back up their opinions in the other thread, non-merchants are requested to back up their opinions here.

I don't recall ever seeing a post on the Merchant boards against this idea. From what I've gathered, everyone loves this idea - Merchant or not.

dunno, I agree with you. Want a vendor, spend the skill points...
Also would throw out an agreement for the mailbox idea. Presenting a way for everyone to recieve an item while offline would be a great help to everyone. And doesn't require a full vendor either.
Maybe help out the architects, make it a craftable item to place inside one's house?

I think a limited item VERY limited 'box' in a house is a grand idea. If it's small enough, you should also be able to 'flag' the item for pickup by someone also. Or make it a 'mini vendor' for those scouts that sell their hides to one person, or whatever. But getting a vendor that everyone can browse, and put even 100 items on, SHOULD COST YOU POINTS. Period. If you want to have a 5 or 10 item 'lockbox' that does that great.

I love the idea of a 5 space drop off box. I dont know how I feel about the COD idea. I also think that containers should not be allowed into this box. (to avoid trying 5 items into 254.

Yea I agree delivery boxes are fine. Somewhere there was a hint that the devs would like to give Architects the ability to craft some kind of consumable "addons" to housing to combat the basically flat sales of housing in the game. A consumable lockbox for houses might be a good idea. It doesnt' compete with merchants really at all and as long as it doesn't hold more than a few items (10 or so probably) then it would be acceptable I think to most merchants.

WOW, I wasnt even gonna be that harsh, as I do understand on hides / bones etc etc you may get different ones in a nights hunting.I WOULD like it to be a limited time also so it doesnt turn into a storage bin. ie:7 days, if not 'picked up' within 5 days goes poof. There has to be tight times/limits to make it so having a real vendor would be more attractive.
