Thread: Some things you may not know...
Here in the last few days a few very bitter people have made comments about recalling me (Like this is CA) or making comments to the effect "My lack of information... " blah blah blah
I am not sure if any of you know this. The things that are disscussed on the correspondants board ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE REPOSTED. I am not sure why this is, but those are the rules set out by the devs, So if I had information I would not be able to spoon-feed it to you in ways you want.
I have a few times make comments like "That is NEVER going to happen" and so on. Read beween the lines folks.
Do I want to share with you what is on the Corre Boards, Hell yes, can I, Oh no.
Furthmore, some people are grossly misinfomed as to what my job it. It is mainly a ONE way communication. I am to read the boards, make a list of concerns, and pass it to the devs. That is all. I am not hear to jump when you ask. I am not here to teach you how to play your Merchant, and I am not here to solve your CSR issues. I do not have a copy of SWG' code, so I can not fix defects. I am not here as your babysitter, not your whipping girl, turn your frustrations elsewhere, because I do not want them.
Thank you, I have many supporters out there, I love this class, and want to see it better. Sadly, I can't force the devs to hear me.
YOU GO GIRL!!!
Right behind you all the way!
However ... it would be nice to know whether or not the dev's PLAN on fixing things like having to reregister vendors everyday, or if it is something we should learn to live with. It would be nice to know what there future plans for merchant class might be, even if painted in the broadest strokes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that those of us who LOVE this game, and believe in its potential would really like to feel as though we are partners with the dev's and that we are ALL working towards the common goal of making SWG everything it could be and more. However, the silence from the dev's leaves us feeling a bit helpless/hopeless. I understand that your hands are tied in this matter ... and I don't think that everything that gets discussed between correspondants and devs should be posted, unless there are things that have a green light on implementation. But SOME feedback would be helpful, even if it is only of the sanitized variety.
How about a weekly letter from whichever dev is working most closely with the Merchant class ... something we can count and and look forward to. Doesnt have to be long, or very specific ... just a reminder that they are SERIOUSLY LISTENING to the concerns of our profession (and all the other classes for that matter).
Even the President gives weekly radio addresses ...
Anyway, Fight the Good Fight, Sister! And know that you have my support!![]()
Forcing outMarqie will do nothing to further communication to this board. Marqie is doing an excellent job of relaying your bugs, issues, and ideas to the dev's. There is a mini-NDA involved, without permission we can not post what the devs are saying. I hope that the dev will post something for release to this board, you all could use and deservesome feedback. But the misguided rants do nothing but make the correspondent's job harder and create a air of mistrust. So please refrain from scorning Marqie, you are all being represented as best as you can.
I think it would be nice as well to tell you what is going on, but I can't ![]()
Are they working on the 7 day thing, something was said about it a few weeks ago by a dev, what did he say.. can't tell yah
You see how frustrating this can be?

I think your doing a wonderful job. I am sickened by how the correspondents are treated by the populace on the forums. The internet today is a lot different from the internet 15 years ago. It was once a place of self policing people who were borrowing a defense network to exchange ideas. Now it's a place where anyone can rant and rave with no abandon.
The best way to control these situations is to use the Report Abuse to the Moderator. Once a thread becomes unproductive, it is best to get it closed. If people abuse the privilege of the forum, that privilege should be taken away. This is our place to exchange ideas. If someone is hindering a healthy debate with rants and flames, it's up to us to see that it's reported. We must police the forums ourselves, or at least bring it to the attention of the moderators.
You keep on keeping on Marqie. We are behind you. I would sticky this to the top if I were you.
Guys,
When we do get a response from the Developers, we invariably ask "can we post this". And generally, the answer is no - because most of our questions regard things that in progress, and the Developers have learned the hard way to not release brainstorm ideas, or to give concrete dates on anything because with a game as fluid as SWG, priorities change daily.
So please - do not take Marqie's inability to provide you with direct Dev quotes to be her not doing her job. She is - I can attest to that. My alt character is a merchant too, so I have a direct interest in her doing her job. She's working hard for us, and she deserves our support.

You're doing a great job Margie ... keep up the fight. Let us "merchant regulars" take care of the impatient "kids" that pop in here and don't have a clue ![]()
One thing that might help is a list of topics that you know the devs are aware of .. (not what they plan to do) ... just that they are aware of it.
That way when someone whines about __fill_in_the_blank__, we can just point to the list and tell them to work on their reading comprehension skills. ![]()
THANK YOU MARQIE
You are in a thankless volunteer job and you have my personal thanks for the great job you are trying to do when you would much rather just be playing the game.
Thank you again
As one of those who has been here for quite a bit.... She has done more than most of the other correspondents. She has been doing her "job" (not that she is paid, in fact she is paying them) very well. The problem is lack of response from the Developers.
PS Do we know if there is a developer focused on or responsible for merchants?

I think you're doing great and those n00b losers can go soak their heads...but can we have the whippings anyway? Just sounds like fun..
Hang in there, Marqie. I think mostof us do understand the guidelines the correspondents operate under, but I guess we're not as noisy as the ones that don't.
