hello!

I am a merchant in tatooine and my husband is a droid engineer. So we have a shop and we sell droid and I also have little tailoring skills..so i sell military pack and things i can make...then recently i started selling clothes which i purchaced from other tailor shop. since i cant make any fancy clothes yet..so i bought quite many pieces of beautiful clothes from one shop and put them to my vendor. Some ppl purchased them and things are getting better till today...

I got a mail from Master tailor /shop owner that she works hard for and she is not making clothes to fill my vendors..so she does not appriciate me buying all those clothes and putting on my vendor...she even suggested that if those customers want clothes which was crafted by master tailor..simply i SHOULD DIRECT THEM to her shop.

in another word, she does not want me to sell any more clothes in my vendors and she want those customers buy all her clothes from her vendors..

i do understand that she rather sell all her clothes at her shop but..once items are purchased by a customer (me) isnt it up to me to do with the items?

i am not like putting huge profits on them..yes i do put very tiny margin on them since i do travel there and alsways seeking reasonable items and try to sell them litle higher..but isnt it all merchant about? since i am going for master merchant and i do need a vendor sale..of course i would like to have well stocked items and many customers to buy things from my shop..

we are also on the planetary map and ppl come herefor droids and little furniture as well and nobody else ever complained me if i bought so many items from them....

what do u guys do? only selling items which u made?

just is it so big sin to put items i bought from other shops?

Well, really wierd of her to complain, since she scores sells when you buy, and she scores UXP when you sell. Buying and reselling is what merchant do.

If we could offer vendor administration rights, then you could set a vendor up for her that she could fill out and you'd get a % of profits. But we can't, so, well, really, keep it up i say.

I can see why the master tailor would be annoyed, s/he is losing the merchant experience that they might be getting from people buying from their venders, but they are still making the same amount of creds as if they were the ones selling the clothes themselves, since you are buying them.

A way to solve this problem and let everyone be happy would be to have an item in ur shop that advertises the master tailors shop. People would still buy from you, but the tailor would also recieve more customers.

She is not losing merchant exp. I mean Shoegirl IS buying the stuff from her vendors. The original tailor gets the same benefit as any other sale. Only difference is that Shoegirl re-sells it. Big deal.

A lot of people are liek this. This is how they see it. You buy something from them, you mark up the price and sell it for more than they did, they think HEY THAT PERSON IS STEALING FROM ME. People are just plain stupid. Once they sell their product, for the amount THEY set, they have no right to complain. In fact they should be thinking the **edit** merchant for buying their products at full price and then selling them as this isn't even how the real world works. Well it does, but GM doesn't sell their cars for retail prices to a dealership. You know what I mean.

Also, this should let the tailor know that if you are selling her goods at a higher rate then maybe she should be charging more. IT boils down to people are greedy. They see the items they make selling for more than what they thought to sell it for they think they are getting ripped off. Gotta realize most of these people playing are kids and haven't had any business classes yet. Business to them = Mom gave me money, I buy stuff.

More to the point is some people just don't understand their suppliers. People like to be asked if their items are going to be resold in a big way, simply because it makes them feel happier about it. They also might not have time to stock two shops. You buying out stock means the selection looks poor when her customers visit, making repeat visits and custom orders less likely. There are lots of reasons why it might upset her, but the main one boils down to a breakdown of communication.

Being a merchant is about making deals. If you're buying from the bazaar to resell, you won't have enough from any one person to make them feel slighted. But buying your stock from a shop is a different matter. Don't forget that merchants needs to communicate with people. If you'd asked her about reselling, maybe you could have come to a deal. She could supply a few things directly (thus meaning her vendors stay well-stocked for the customers), and perhaps you advertise her services in your shop. This would have been a much more business-wise appraoch, and would mean your suppliers are supporting your shop. Not feeling your shop has cheated them.

If she'd said no to such a deal, it isn't automatically because she doesn't understand merchants. As said above, some don't have time to keep several shops well-stocked. But you can guarentee there'd be a tailor who was interested. Ask around, make contacts. It's as much a part of being a merchant as reselling. You know people might get upset at their things being resold, so head off the problem before it happens, and turn that potential bad publicity into good publicity.

I would think it would be better business for the original seller. One, they get the Merchant exp when you buy from them (so their not losing business) Second, now there Items are being sold at multiple locations giving them more recognition. In real life you'll see Sony products sold at Kmart, Walmart and other places. I personally add a little tag in the naming of my crafted items so they know who made it. I think for the original poster, you should try and help them see this fact and if not start getting your product from another merchant, I personally would be honored it my product was being sold by others (somebody had to buy it from me first).

In real life you almost never do bus with the maker, because the maker is a sweat shop in a 3rd world country.

Also, many items a taylor sales are not needed to live. There for they are mainly impulse buys, that is why having a taylor, bot maker, and so on in once space, is a good thing, because they come for the "Bots" and leave with a lot more.

I would not worry about her,Go to your server board, post you are looking for a master taylor as a supplier, and make a deal.

But, if you are buying her stuff, and reselling, then she is getting what she asked for, her sale price. If you turn around and wipe your floor with it, it is yours.

I think you are perfectly in the right. You purchased the clothing and its yours to do as you like. I don't make everything my customers want but they know they can ask and I will find it for them to purchase from me..not send them all over the galaxy looking for some other shop. The original tailor made the money she asked and you made the money you asked. Thats how our economy in rl as well as the game works. I would totally ignore her and infact look for another tailor that is selling the same thing and buy from them. I would also if the original tailor persists warn people not to purchase from them. Sorry but the person got the price they were asking and if they don't want you purchasing thier product just because you are going to resell them to your customers he/she deserves to lose any possible business you might have sent his/her way.

Now i have decided not to purchase any more from her shop and I wont also recomend her to anyone anymore yes I do regret that i did not mention about a deal to her and ask her permission to put her staffs to my vendors.....but afer seeing how upset she is about this and how she is making big deal about it..i think i wont deal with her anymore anyway..And i do still deeply belive that items are mine..so I did not do anything wrong aside from made her feel that i betrayed her which i did not...its her choice to put the prices to those items..and i happen to find her shop and bought items which were very reasonable and firstilne clothes..

I did find a new Maser tailor andshe will make me clothes and i can sell them for up to 30% more than what she will be selling me for... I am happy that she is thrilled and iwill also recomend her shop to my customers.

Just for your information, reason why that master tailor was all upset was...She usually stocks her shop in the morning and rest of the day..she mostly dances to get exp ....and while she was dancing last night...someone asked if she sells exotic leotard..and she has realized from mails that i purchached 2 leotardand there were no stock on her vendor..and she did not want to recomend my shop. and she did not want to leave cantina..so she felt pretty uncomfortable abou it or so..she says she only stocks her shop once a day...and she prefers things are there when customers go there but hey..if she is master tailor..and she knows many ppl visit there..i think she should be stocking there more than once a day..especially some customers are happy when shop owner/tailor is around and can make adirect order , not just by email..Andso i did buy natve 12items at once..butwhats the differences either u sell 12 items to one personin once or 12 different person in 3 or more hour. And if she is responsible good merchant..if she got mails and know stocks are low..she should really restock it..unless she has no materials or really far away from her shop..but thats my point of view..

so anyone else had problems with crafters?

ps i know that many ppl buy my military packs and they so resell but i dont mind at all...

Let me make sure I understand this, you have no relationship to this tailor, you're just going in and cleaning out their vendors, making everything up, and reselling?

If that's the case I'm with the tailor. They're trying to keep theirvendors stocked and if they're ending up prematurely empty that affects their business--most of the medium level items I made were to encourage people to continue to come to my shop.It was a big big part of my success that I was always stocked--that's the number one thing that you need to do as a merchant to succeed--keep the vendors stocked.People have to know that if they show up, what they want to buy will be there. If you're cleaning out a vendor of items, then you're affecting that. Also as I've said before I would not want "by Karai" clothes on someone elses vendor. Those are marked because my reputation is valuable and by sticking them on someone elses vendor in large numbers, it's affecting the value of my good name.

Resellers should find a supplier and strike a deal, not clear things off of vendors.

In general I think it's ok to buy and resell stuff.

However I don't think it's ok to buy large quantities of items from someone's vendor for reselling on a regular basis without asking. Emptying out a vendor can run someone out of business.

It sounds like the tailor you were buying from may have been more interested in helping to provide dancers with clothing than to turn a profit.

I'm confused by this statement. Emptying a vendor = sales = profits.

So how does emptying a vendor run someone out of business? Does the seller get less money or profit had she sold them to seperate customers? In fact she is getting a better ROI overall.

I agree that buying out someone's stock may be considered rude, but since the Seller is still making the same profits, I feel it's perfectly legitimate.
