I'm confused by this statement. Emptying a vendor = sales = profits.

Because an empty vendor will lead to one's normal customers not coming back as often.

If you want to re-sell things in bulk, strike up a deal with the artisan. Maybe you can get even better pricing. Maybe they'll even deliver the goods to your vendor.

the master tailor in question sounds like a fool and a lazy one at that. if she is recieving emails that stuff is selling them she wants get get off her butt and restock. if she sells 58 items to a merchant or 58 items to someone else it matters not the stuff is still sold for the price she posted and the items now no longer belong to her. she is the one losing out, her name is on the item as the maker, she doesnt now get advertised by two vendors instead of one and she doesnt grasp that she is underpricing her goods. (she is prolly underpricing everyone else trying to block their business) honestly iv seen so many so called master tailors with not the slightest clue about business, generally because they ground all the way there without setting a customer base as they go.

I am a master artisan/Novice merchant and goin on Chef. If someone cleaned out my venders and resold it somewhere else, I would be thrilled!

I am glad I came upon this thread, because I was thinking about going around the galaxy to find good stuff to resell. I will contact the crafter beforehand, to avoid this foolishness.

I think reselling is good for the merchant, the crafter, and the customer.

I guess i should make it more clear the situation since many got idea that i did COMPLETELY emptiedher shop.

Nope... this master tailor has 4 vendors..and each vendors maybe have over 100 items . (one even have like almost 200 items..same item but all different colors, u got what i mean)

and I went back to her shop maybe 4 times.. each time..i bought maybe around 7 to 10 items.

and her vendors werent completely empty..just when i bought 2 exotic leotard...then she had one yellow leotard which werent wanted by anyone..i did not buy it either..but later on..i guess someone bought it and there she had no exotic laotard on her stock...(still that vendor had many dresses, metal bikinis, a lot of dancer clothes left..)

she said she usually dances rest of herthe day and she stocks her shop only once a day

..so according to her email..she was dancing and one person wanted exotic leotard but she knew that she had none at her shop. and she knew i bought 2 and since last time i saw her she asked what do i do with all her clothes..(since she knew i was buying many clothes from her and happen to see her at shuttle port..i said i love her shop and some items i have on my napsack ..which is true..i own over 60 items to myself..cuz i used to dance.. and i also told her that i resell. she said aha..alright..then she left that moment..)

then that night she got idea those 2 leotard purchased by me would be sitting on my vendor but of course she said she did not want to recomend my vendor to that girl.. then she felt uncomfortable or so.

then she wrote me a mail that i am not making clothes to fill my vendor...etc..

sure maybe bad taste of me to selling her clothes without her permissions but i strongly belive that many ppl do the same and i even buy clothes from bazaar..fix them..sell them little higher price..and i buy many items from others and resell and they are ok with it..

like someone mentioned in above post..this master tailor is little lazy that even she gets mail that something is sold she has no intention to go back shop (which is not too far at all) nor make clothes at site..since there is tailoring machine outside of cantina..and i belive if she is a tailor she must carry around some materials and clothing crafting kit around..or i believe she can simply tell to the person who wanted to buy leotard..i can make you when i go home tonight or i will send you a tell when ur order is ready..

besides many ppl travel around and buy large quantity of items and never even go back to that shop...i have been even recomending her shop and her to my customers as well too..

all i got feeling is..now she is a master tailor..she does not need exp for making any clothes..so she just wanna dance and dance to get her exp..and she expect all her items are on shop when ppl go there..sorry to say its business..some day is busy..someday is slow..u can never guess who buy what..and if she has many customers..they surely send a tell or mail her orders..no big deal if someone bought like 7 to 10 items at her shop at once..that how i felt ....

I will have to side with the tailor on this. I stock my vendor so my cusomters know they can always get the items they need when visiting my shop. Not so a reseller can snatch it all up when I am offline and deny any of my regulars the ability to buy what they want. If you want to buy and resell give me a tell and we can work something out.

Just the other day someone wanted to buy and resell. I told him that this time he could come down to my vendor and pick them up because I was there in my shop and I was able to quickly restock the items. Had I been offline, my vendor would have been real low on stuff people want to buy and use, causing them to look elsewhere for the items.

Since food and drinks are relatively low cost compared to other things people can and will buy 10-50 items at once. Taking even just 5 away for resale mean 5 items that a non-reseller might not get.Which is what my vendor is set up for in the first place. Non-resellers.

If you want to play super Wal-Mart merchant and buy and resell, fine, give me a tell. But if you buy a huge chunk of stuff for resale off my vendorand deny my customers from getting what they want don't be suprised if you recieve a big fat ban from my house. Those items aren't for you.

Your best bet is obviously to try to get on with this tailor, as it's a good idea in this game to get on with everyone if you can.

But for what it's worth, I'm a master tailor and I don't think you did anything wrong at all. My clothes are there for anyone who wants to pay a fair price for them, and it's none of my business if they wear them, sell them or use them to make curtains out of. I suspect if I was the tailor you dealt with I might respond by raising my prices, as you are obviously able to sell for a bit more than she is charging, so maybe she charges too little. But that's just the market in action again.

I know she did. But the topic was resellers buying from vendors. My post was a general overview and not directed at her situation.

Ah, sorry if i seem bitchy. I recently came back to these boards to discover the resource vender bug(and too late I might add!)

I still don't mind if they cleaned me out, but i do see your point. I guess each crafter has his own view on this, so like i said above, I will always ask before I clean someone out of product.

This is a silly argument. You are free to buy anything you want from a vendor and do whatever you want with it. If she feels your actions are damaging her business she is perfectly within her right to ban you from her establishment. She can't control what you do with merchandise you have purchased and she can't reasonably expect you to buy the same amount of stuff and not sell what you wish. So keep doing what you are doing until you are banned from the store.

If you want some weapons or powerups or furniture or elec componets, or .... fell free to clean out my vendors. I'll either aquire more or retire to Naboo and take up fishing.

This whole dispute wouldnt' even be possible if every artisan didn't have a vendor in their house trying to be their own merchant.

I am both a tailor (not yet a master) and a merchant. Also in RL, I have a lot of experience of running a shop that has a retail or consignment segment.

I think in the resale market, when you buy something to resell it you are entitled to do what ever you want with it. But looking at it from a crafter's point of view it would only be polite to ask beforehand if you are going to stock their merchandise on your vendors. In RL, if I was going to resell any item handcrafted, I would first discuss it with the artist. They are usually happy to supply me with the items.

In game,think it is just a courtesy to discuss beforehand with the artist when planning to resell the items. As an tailor with her own shop it is important to have a stocked vendor, if a person wanted to resell my items I would be happy to supply them if asked beforehand.

I think that in the end it's the lazy merchant who can't take the time to talk with their suppliers. It can be a mutually positive situation for both the merchant and the supplier if they had open lines of communication. The merchant can recommend the supplier for custom works, and the supplier (especially if they ran out of stock) can recommend the merchant for their wares as well as for other things. I think that if communication is upheld everyone has more fun and is more successful in the business venture.
