Well, it is a known issue vendor mail and maintanance do not upkeep properly if the vendor is not loaded frequently.

You very well may have miscalculated the time left or maint on them and when you stepped into the house
it loaded vendor, the gamebackloaded maint and time, and poofed the vendor due to inactivaty.

Storage sales decoration w/e you use a vendor for, if you do not actually take the time to go poke them..they have a habit of poofing.

Yea, but I didnt know that and I lost 4mil resources due to a "known issue". Do you think I should be punished for this?

Please, I'm desperate. I had a storage vendor (I know ppl are gonna start saying that vendors are not for storage, yadda yadda, but how the hell is somemone supposed to have a well decorated house and still be able to store kazillions of different resources and be under the 250 item limit? - Impossible).

Well anyways, here's my story:

I was a Master Shipwright 1 month after the JTL release and made quite some money back there, so I invested in resources but the SW market went down the toilet and I didnt bother to restock my shop. Eventually my "selling vendors" got destroyed but that didn't matter cuz I didn't want to sell more stuff. But my STORAGE vendor, located at my shop didnt disapear, I needed it to keep my resources so I could use them later on (as I planned to use for the new players comming with the RoTW). I DID get some messages a while ago saying my auctions were unsuccessfull but I didnt get ANY emails saying my vendor was gonna get deleted soon cuz it had no items, so I didnt worry.

Yesterday, as I walked in my old shop, I got an email saying that my vendor got deleted. I was like

So I opened a ticket and waited more than 24h for a response. When I login today I found out that the CSR said kinda: "screw you, not my problem, cant help you." and closed the ticket.

I mean, IF I DID GET AN EMAIL BOUT MY VENDOR GOING DOWN, ID HAVE GONE TO IT AND PUT SOMETHING TO SELL, BUT I DIDNT GET ANY FRICKING EMAIL.

Sigh, I just hope I can get my vendor back, this really stresses me out as I had more than 4mil worth resources in there

you shouldn't ask such things for I am evil and will say yes.

and I do beleive it is you who are responsable for maintaining and updateing and checking on your storehouses, factories, vendors, w/e.

call it uncareing rude anything you like, it is my opinion and beleif and I will stick to it.

and I have had entire floodsof items gone because of my own lack of concern for my ingame items, it isn't I don't understand,
it is keeping in perspective. certain ingame actions should be taken if you want to keep your items.

similarthing happened to me August last year. I was gonna move to another planet so to make life easyer (knock down houses so I could place them on new planet) I set up a vendor. Everything was going fine untill my vendor which had well over 35mil of ubber resources was deleted when a friend re-deeded the hse.

Apart from the resources I lost 99% of everything I had and you can imagine the amount of tickets I sent to be told "can't help you".

So a warning to everyone...if you have a vendor inside a house you will not be told there is an itme there to warn you not to re-deed

I'm evil too.

But I do feel for the 'friend destroyed the house with my temporary vendor in it' problem than the 'I neglected to feed my vendor and it died' problem. Vendors can be handy if you have to move. Sucks that your friend didn't check the house first. But letting a vendor go for months and expecting it to still be in good shape...

I DIDNT LET IT FOR MONTHS, I LEFT IT FOR 20 DAYS AT MAX. I DIDNT GET ANY, NOT ONE, NOT TWO - ZERO, NADA NIENTE NOTHING IN MY EMAIL ABOUT THE VENDOR GOING TO EXPLODE.

Really, that might sound a bit harsh but your completeley missing the point. My point is that I didn't receive an email telling me my vendor was about to explode, so because last time I checked it (around april 20th), I did notice it had enough cash in maintenance to hold him for a few months so I didn't really mind and I thought he was gonna be ok.

I ONLY DIDNT CHECK HIM BECAUSE I THOUGHT HE WAS OK, I DIDNT GET ANY WARNING EMAILS OF ANY KIND SAYING "your vendor is going to be deleted soon if you dont do something about it".

I'm sorry to sound mad but it guys are completey missing the point.

Right, but you didn't stock it? It had all its items in the stockroom?

These things are designed to vanish after 30 days of no activity. That's how they get rid of the vendors from inactive players. The vendors don't actually disappear when the maintenance goes away either (that I know of). When all of the items rolled off your vendor into the stockroom, you also got an email about your vendor status - that it had no items on it and would be removed in 30 days. 30 days notice seems acceptable to me.

It's not related to maintenance. You have to actually use the vendors to keep them. Sorry you lost your items...

No, not completely missing the point.

just beleive it is your own responsability to check your vendorsyourselfand not assume they are ok.

that is the point,
letting things go for weeks or months still means they are not properly maintained nor cared for.

getting upset will not change the fact that the Merchant community cannot control a CSR saying they cannot/willnot return items.

and like I said I am evil.

A poofing vendor without warning is an issue, but it does bring up an interesting question though...

Do you think SOE may come up with some elaborate scheme to remove storage vendors (based on certain criteria) without warning?

For example, I believe it would be possible to code a search for vendors that have say more than 10 items priced at 99,999,999 (or some price minimum) that hadn't sold for 90 days or has been restocked more than 3 times, and then flag it for deletion. But would they do that without warning? IF they were to implement a storage vendor purge, a warning would be mandatory to give you an opportunity to remove items from a vendor that you want to keep. Call me paranoid but I think it's in the realm of what SOE COULD/WOULD do.

In the days where you could train Merchant, drop a vendor, drop skills, and retain use of a vendor was a grievous abuse. But now since keeping a vendor requires invested skill points and with vendor item limits implemented, I don't see it as much of an abuse to have storage vendors. You spent the skill points after all.

On a side note, I would prefer my Storage Unit Idea than using a vendor.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that you didn't get that email because you didn't visit your vendor.
Vendors tend to go into hibernation when they unload from the world and nothing happens until they load back in.

Once they load in, the system catches up on everything that it missed while it was unloaded.
This is why you don't get xp for a while and then suddenly get a big chunk of it all at once.

If the email works like that and your vendor wasn't loaded into the world, your vendor wouldn't know it was about to poof until it tried to load back into the world at which time it would immediately poof. Since it doesn't exist anymore, it can't generate an email.

Bottom line is that vendors are NOT meant to be used as storage. They are meant to facilitate sales between the merchant and other players. Vendors that are properly used in this manner will rarely (if ever) experience this issue.

If you use your vendor for storage, you're taking a huge gamble and you have to deal with the consequences of a system that is, in fact, "working as intended."

Really? I thoguht the whole prupose of vendors was the ability for the player to do whatever they wanted with them, providing he had the skills for it.

I invested skill points, money, more money and a lot of time to get that stuff, just to be told that because I nasty bug in the vendors system that prevents the vendor from sending an email that my time, money and skill were just a waste? This is game, it's supposed to be fun, not griefing for the players.

I didn't exploit, nor I did do anything wrong, I just used a system that allows to store items in your vendors and then a bug caused me to lose everything. Please explain how that is fair for a player that plays as hard as you and pays the same fees as you.

she's not saying you did something wrong, she's trying to explain to you how the game mechanics might work and attempt to give you an idea why your stuff went missing. you can probably try submitting another CSR ticket. if you're not satsified with the response, you can try emailing [email protected] with your ticket number and ask them to review it again. there's not much us correspondents can do besides giving you advice
