Thread: Can I replace merchant model safely?

I just hit Selective Hiring I (me uber merchant, kneel before me) and had some new merchant options pop up.

Can I just bag the current merchant and pop down a new one, and it still has my stock in it? Or do I have to PAINSTAKINGLY empty out *over a hundred* items I cannot fit anywhere so I can just get a cooler merchant?

Too much valuables in the vendor to contemplate just 'beta testing' it out. 100 items, average sell price around 4K... + bunch of materials in the 'stockroom' from player sales to me. I dont' want to lose half a million credits to a 'feature'.

I would remove the items first. In beta I changed from a "bulky merchant" to "droid merchant' The stock that was up for sale in the old merchant was trapped. I could access it from the new merchant (in the region area) but I couldn't retrieve any of the items and no one else could get them if they bought them. So I wouldn't risk your merchandise.

yep same here... I've been bugging it and trying to get a CSR to respond... no help yet. But hopefully, they should put it all in your stockroom or something.

I would like to replace my vendor also but I don't want to lose everything I have in it right now. Anyone have a spare house to test it out using one item?

Don't forget that I think you lose the money you have paid in maintenance. I got new vendor options today too and I want to replace that bartender droid, but thanks to the bug where item sales end up in the maintenance pool I have 30,000 in the maint pool and I can't get it out.

Those are only credits. There are more where they came from. If I could be sure that my new vanity vendor model could be put up, I'd devnull the 40K in mine's maintenance (thank you bugs, *Sigh*).

Of course those with no business sense and urge to dump junk quality to the market at rock bottom prices might worry about losing 30K...

I changed merchants without picking up all my goods, and it was in the 'stockroom' when I created my merchant again....that was the first time. The second time I lost everything.

Not sure how it should work, but unless you are a gambler, I would pick everything up

If you have novice merchant, upgrade your vendors to the NPCs - their maintenance seems to stay at 1 no matter how much stuff is on them and how many people are buying from them. I've sold 20k of guns on two vendors with 60k of items between them, and both of their rates are still 1.

"Random race" apparently means Twi'lek, my guildmates made several NPCs and they're all Twi'leks that look exactly the same. Females have a yellow dress, males are fat and wear white shirts.

Well the thing is I want the maintenance to be used up, I don't want to switch to all NPC vendors right now cuz I will lose that 30k, I figure it might aswell get used for something since I'm apparently never going to get it back.

As for random race I've had human, rodian, twilek and mon cal show up. I was fiddling around with and just creating/destroying for a while and you certainly get some interesting combinations. Kinda like the randomize all on char creation. Anyway I've received different variations on all of them but I've never had a bothan/trando/zabrak come as a vendor. Nor a wookiee for that matter =P

Okay I just switched mine. Lost everything that I left in it. Did not matter if it was in the store room or for sale. I tried cancelling one of the sales and retrieving it but no dice with that either.

I did get a female trondo and wookie while looking for a vendor though.

i havent tried it yet but i plan on upgrading my vendor.

My plan is to make the new vendor before i remove the old one. Then go to the old vendor and remove all the items into tha store room...they Should be accessable in the new vendor to re post for sale...yes it sounds boring and painstaking repircing everything but man that first clunker of a vending machine must go. If i cant get the items from the old bin into the new vendor at least i can carry them in chunks myself...yes the matinece will go but thats far from my top priority.

I have 2x Vendors, 1 Female Rodian & 1 Male Wookie.

When I pulled my Bulky Vendor, I cancelled all my auctions & it went into my Stockroom & I could add them to my New Vendor.

I think That as long as you have at least 1 Vendor up then you wont lose your Stockroom stuff if you pull another vendor down.
