Thread: Beware Possible Vendor Griefing.

All I can say to merchants is BEWARE!

Recently, I sold a medical XP +11 tape for 25m credits. Well I dropped it off at her mall and supposedly her boyfriend erased the vendor it was on to make room for upcoming merchant changes. Now I have no idea if this person did erase the vendor on purpose or not, because that really isnt the issue. The issue is something much more disturbing!

I contact a CSR to get my item replaced or credits refunded. I know both options are possible because I have done it twice before for other problems and dissappearing vendor items. First attempt, They track the item down, but say sorry the person deleted the vendor you lose both item and money. Second try, because CSRs are incompetent and you have to post a fewtickets to get stuff fixed, goes the same way. They say sorry cant replace your item due to owner deleting vendor. Third try I get a mark on my account for resubmitting tickets and told to drop the subject.

After each incident I brought up this fact! What if the person did this on purpose, is it SOEs stance that this type of griefing is being endorsed, by this silly policy, when they where able to track the item down and see what happened to it. I meanany new free account can place a house and vendor offerbuyouts on all items on the forums and then delete the vendor the next day.Response One was this is a personal matter between you and the vendor owner to work out on your own. Response Two was SOE provides a means for safe transfer of items through person to person trades, Vendor owners are allowed to delete their vendors at any point for any reason. Third response didnt happen because the ticket was closed and I was warned of being banned if I resubmitted.

So if this is SOEs policy I think their will be alot of griefing going on in the game. When pressed with the question they specifically said it was none of their business. Personally I can't see why SOE would take this stance because all it does is add a form of grief and bogs down their CSRs time with extra tickets. They have the ability to track the items, because they told me exactly what happened to the item. They could also track my purchase of the item so they knew I owned it. blahhh this just pises me off, Ill have to end it here before I become irrational.

It just amazes me that they would step back and say that vendor owners have the right to do whatever they want to their vendor. There has to be some etiquette that owners need to follow. Heck SOE could bypass all of this if they just let people get their items from any vendor in the galaxy. And if a vendor is erased have it default to the bazaar or other generic holding place.

Please post and 5star this post if you would like to see SOE make changes to this policy before griefers start taking advantage of it.

They need to make it so vendors cannot be deleted with items still on them. This would solve everything.

Oh, I forgot, that would be too easy

Before they do that, they need to give us a way to prevent people from offering things to them.
I don't want someone putting things on my vendor just to keep me from moving it.

Well, now I can see people not wanting to drop off auctioned items on vendors cause they might fear loosing it.. It is silly that this sort of thing wasnt thought of before.. We need to have some sort of system in place to where the owner cannot delete the vendor unless the "Offers" are cleared either by purchase or rejection...

Does not fix anything

Then its in the "Available Items" Section for the customer again, and the vendor gets deleted, its still gone, since you can't get those items from another vendor.

They have to make a central NPC/terminal where all Items go if a vendor gets deleted, that didn't belong to the vendor owner. if you delete your own vendor with stuff on it or in the stockroom, that sucks, but its your fault. If you delete a vendor, and there are items of customers there thats not their fault.

Yeah, or something like the "restored item" pack that you get from time to time when you try to pick up more than you can hold from a vendor.

Maybe something like that could just go into your safe deposit.

Blahhh who let the bounty hunter in here to one star me?

Anyways anything would work better than the system they have in now.

It is totally unacceptable to allow this type of policy to exist, It will only be abused sooner or later.

If you can find the item that means the CSR already spent the time tracking it down.

If he spent the time then he should take that next step and just refund the item so you

make the customer HAPPY and to insure that the person doesnt just resubmit or continue to

follow up on the ticket.

It only makes sense!

I dont see what the problem is, you dropped the item on someone vendor, the vendor gets whacked by the boyfriend. Its just bad luck, technically it can be used for griefing, but to be honest there are far easier ways of griefing. People who deliberatly grief usually have the attention span of a gnat, the time it would take to put up an effective ruse would be too long for them.

Its a shame that you lost your very high value item, but the etiquette of auctions are that if you dont recieve the goods, you dont get paid. Im sure it was probably an accident, one which the poor boyfriend has probably suffered for. There are also rules for when a CSR can and cannot "refund" items or credits, this case they are not allowed to. Blaming the CSR's is pointless as its not their fault, blaming the Dev's is also pointless as they've created a way to safetly transfer items and money, you didnt use it. Remember one of the focuses for the devs is to make people actuallly "play" the game rather than come online putter about then go away again. To get anywhere in SWG the idea is that you actually have to take part, ie if you want to transfer an item then you meet up with that person. And with an item worth 25m? I know that I would want to work it out in person...

As for the warning from the CSR's you essentially spammed them, remember the CSR's do actually have other people to deal with.
