Thread: Merchant XP 10:1 conversion ratio...OUCH!(Updated)

At the time of posting, my understanding was that the merchant xp conversion ratio was 10:1. New reports indicate that it may be 4:1 or 5:1. However my calculation is still valid, simply divide the amount of time I estimated by 10, and multiply by the current number.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to earn Senses xp towards getting Jedi unlocked, it takes
1,225,000 per tree times 10:1 merchant xp ratio =

12,250,000 merhant xp per tree.

With the new patch, having 12 vendors, with 150 xp per hour per vendor (assuming that isn't changed),
Merchants get 41,400 Merchant xp per day given a 1 hour downtime. This results in...

237 DAYS to get ONE tree using merchant xp.

XP from customers and entrance fees are quite low in comparison to the vendor xp, so this is a good approximation.
If I used only merhant xp to master all 4 senses lines, that's 2.66 YEARS.

OUCH!
(translation : please lower this ratio)

The new vendors are being added to existing skill boxes. As far as I know, xp gain will function the same as it does now. If anything, it will speed up things, since there will be more vendors for you to use.

edit: what's this 10:1 ratio you're talking about?

Guess selling things so you get more than the hourly "you exist" XP is more important than ever.

even if it ws 10:1 it would be well justified by the fact that this is the only xp you can consistsntly get not having to do anything that i know of. the other good options for fast xp also have the same type conversion rates i would guess.

1/ "Not having to do anything" ? Well, exceptinvesting 100 skill points !

2/ Even witha 4:1 ratio and 12 vendors placed, you make 10.200 FS xp a day, so it will take 118 days for one singletree...

3/ Even if you have1.000 people entering your shop (good luck with that), that gives you 50.000merchant xp or a whooping 5.000 FS xp...It cuts the process only1 days...

Getting your trees filled with merchant is definatly NOT a good idea at this moment... Expect to see alot of crafting macro's...

You dont even need to 'do' anything! You dont need to craft, kill things, or make anything. You just need to exist and spend the skill points. It is a good balance I am sure.

If you want to earn jedi exp faster spend the skill points! Its all about choices.

(I think I have heard that somewhere before:smileyhappy

Ahhh, yes you do. You need to have Skill Points invested. You need to have a building placed and maintance paid up. You need to have vendors placed. You need to have vendor maintance paid up. And you need to make sure something is listed on each vendor, otherwise 2 weeks later, it will go poof.

Trust me, its not going to be easy to maintain 12 vendors.

Someone did the math.

A master merchant with 12 vendors can make 12 * 150 mxp/h * 23 j/day * 4:1 = 10300 FS exp a day

A master combat profession can get the same amount of FS experience by killing 3 voritors (assuming 5000 exp each)

Your correct, it is all about choices. And I think the 4:1 ratio is much more fair to the merchant that the 10:1 ratio. (but if anything it should still be a little higher)

So what you're saying is that all the merchants out there that want to work towards jedi/2nd slot should just close up shop? Merchant is not a profession you can just drop like a hat, and everything will be okay. Merchants make the galaxy go 'round. Oh yeah, and wasn't the whole point of this publish is to make unlocking available to all professions?

Well having gone through dropping Master Merchant and going up and down the trees lately, I can testify that if you have a wide variety of sales on just 6 vendors it has not been uncommon for me to make 40k exp or higher a day.

I dont mind the conversion rates. The game is about more than becoming a *uc*ing jedi. Just play the game. One day you'll hit the ctrl+S keys by accident, and notice you are able to train in a FS box. Yay! Maybe you'll train, maybe not. If you wanna be a jedi, get architect, and grind out 34,000 (at 35:1) Gungan Head staues, and you are a Padawan. I' glad the number is so high. If everyone in the game were a jedi, then this would be KOTOR online. Thats not the game I signed up to play.
