For me personally this is closer to acceptable, but still 1k items under my current stock. I can imagine that some crafters are still going to have very viable product in amounts greater than mine. Sure wish they'd let master merchants have something closer to 10k items.
It's interesting to me that so many people have talked about how this nerf will help new crafters enter the market... If I had been limited to 100 items while I finished out artisan, I know for sure it would have taken me a lot longer to recycle cash to product, since my stocks would have been dramatically lower and I wouldn't have formed the customer base nearly as early.
Thanks Doc! Keep up the good fight!!!

No part of this will in any way make everyone happy.
That being said, and the understanable reason for this (many people are usingvendors to store GODLY amounts of THINGS in there house, I know someone with more than 10,000 items on A vendor) this level of 4000 or so total is more than fine. Personally I have management only so 2750 will be my limit. Currently I have about 600 harvesters, 100 paintings, and 75 or so resource/spice/etc on three vendors. So for me, this limitation is no limitation.
What people need to realize is anything in any game where you can store unlimited items will be limited sooner or later.

Wow,..4000 is a lot,..it's amazing how many people wouldn't have agreed that 4000 was a lot before the number 160 was thrown at people,....it's almost as if someone said:
"We've got to cut costs,..while we're consolidating servers (because fewer and fewer people are playing) lets cut the vendor items to around 4000 to save DB space"
"No we can't do that,..people will freak out and quit the game"
"Well we'll give them some BS about it being "good for the Merchant Class" and they'll think it's ok"
"No I really think we'll lose accounts,..and that means less Jump to lightspeed accounts"
"Ok how about if we make them think that it's going to be like,...I don't know,..150 160 or so, then after they complain we'll say "Hmmm,..we're thinking about it, your concerns are our top priority" Sure the guy fielding the boards will take a beating and we may lose an account or two, but afterwards all those people who were bitching will love us and think that we put their best interests first"
"Hmm says here on the boards some people have already figured out that we're just doing this to cut costs, and already figure we've got a higher target that we're wanting to corral them into with the premise of us being all about customer service"
"Customer Service!? (HA HAA HAA HAA!!!) Oh gosh,..that was funny,...anyway those people will be far overwhelmed by the people breathing a sigh of relief that the numbers have come up and it won't really matter"
"Hmm,..good good,..now that we've got that settled, should we work on the issue of customer service tickets?"
"Yes I vote we just have some first level customer support rubes take all the heat and close every ticket with pat form replies"
"Hear hear!!! Hey does anyone want to see me burn a hundred dollar bill!?"
But no that can't be the case,...I don't think anyone on here would argue that customer satisfaction is always #1 at SOE.
Making the customer experience suffer for convenience sake is a totally foreign concept I'm sure.
4000,.....I guess we'll see a new class of merchants appearing,..the ones who buy 2 accounts,...the ones who disappear, and the ones who just aren't really good at being a merchant in the first place and the nerfs will just keep on keeping on;
Judging from the posts you pulled it off,..bravo. My compliments.
I'm just glad I can give my money to SOE,..I feel really bad that they can't "afford" to keep up with the demands of the customers,...I makes me sad that they can't "afford" to keep up more servers for less people to play on.
Is there anything else I can do,..? I feel personally that my life would be better served if only I could somehow give even more money to SOE. If there is some way that I can bedrained of my blood and vital fluids to buy more SOE products. I know that would make me feel a lot better, it's a tragedy to think that someone at SOE might not be able to have an extra cup of coffee, or might have to use a discount brand of notepads because of my inconsiderate feelings about wanting to enjoy the game that I pay for.
Is there an address I can send money or gifts to? Or if there's anything that you need in the line of servers or hard drives or hosting,..maybe I could send it to you or pay for it for you. I mean I only run a small computer business, but if there's anyway I can help out....I've had a good year and while I haven't paid off my house or anything yet. I'm sure I can send some cash in if you guys are really hurting this bad. I just couldn't go on living if I though that I was here in moderate comfort, but the people at SOE are working in squalor all because of me.
I applaud the monumental effort is has taken toruin one of the things I loved most in life (Star Wars) and making in synonomous with hate, stupidity and incompetence in my mind. I can only imagine that it is an accomplishment to cherish to actually make people love a video game then be able to make them hate it. If only they had an award.

This is actually an nice change....
It moves merchant into an actual profession instead of being just one more profession badge along the way to force sensativity.
It will also help inflation, supply and demand and help create a "basic" price list. (Of course, there will always be those over-chargers who want to charge 2 days worth of missions for an item that reallty only costs 150 creds, but hey. It can never be a perfect galaxy.) I took up merchant opriginally on my alt just as somethign to do, since the merchant xp seemed to be going well for me, but now, it actually has a great deal of value, not only for my main character's tailoring business, but in supplying veodnrs for others, since I currently have no need for 12 vendors.
I think this wil really help prune those vendors that only have maybe 2-10 things on them, and also help out at the bazaar as well...
Now, if only they can improve the asthetics of the vendors we hire....

/applaud Tralakar! you have posted one of the most comprehensibleand honest posts I've seen thus far. will they bother looking at it? that I doubt, but it's right on the point. when I start deleting all the dna I've gathered and other items I've collected (only meat, eggs, flora.. you know, that stuff that's not really needed in the game) because I can no longer put them in my son's vendor, I might seriously come to the decision that I'm tired of paying to work on this game. then maybe I'll move on to one that I actually enjoy playing. it is supposed to be a game after all, isn't it?
angel.
