Thread: Merchants Unite! We must get devs to take away vendors from Business 3 and 4!
I'd have to agree with Numtini... These are the cries of a profession that (a) needs s'more functionality added but (b) really isn't all that bad off to begin with (as compared to BEs and CHs and such) looking around and seeing everyone else getting groped and fondled by Sony and demanding, "where's my warm fuzzy?"
And the ONLY thing you guys can come up with is to NERF the Artisan tree that leads to your profession?!?
Frankly, if THAT's your game, I'm happy to deal face to face with my customers, and to hell with the whole lot of ya.
I'm quite happy running my own shoppe, stocked to the gills with Tailorin-goodness. Personally, I have ZERO need for an external merchant agreement to hock my wares. I'd rather have my customers KNOW they're getting MY fashions, from the source, rather than buying "off the rack" from some hack wanna-be Wal*Mart clerk.
No, Wal*Mart doesn't make a damned thing they sell. No sh*t, Sherlock. But there are thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of independant craftsmen/women in the world doing direct-to-market sales and making a killing buy cutting OUT the middleman (YOU). Wal*Mart resells items from 3rd world sweat shops - at a SUBSTANTIAL mark-up. You think I"m going to sell you a Grand Twi'lek Crest for COST so you can mark it up? Go back to your hooka!

Well I think that merchant as a use of skill points is pretty much a waste. Buy a couple of extravendors and you're pretty much set.
Merchant as a profession is not bad because what really makes a merchant is interpersonal skills and hard work.
Not singling out Wal*Mart - just was the first thing that came to mind.
Feel free to 's/Wal\*Mart/Target/g' if you like.
