Thread: vendors for non-artisan classes
i like the idea of "rented" vendors. but, 25 items is too low for any crafting profession. i think the merchant should come equipped with "contracts". he can rent a vendor to another player for a designated amount of time. at the end of the time the vendor would lock out everyone except the person who rented it (to allow this person to retrieve any unsold items that are left over). this would actually solve many problems for both the merchant and the crafting professions.
1. the merchants could make money on renting their extra vendors while still maintaining their ability to run their own vendors.
2. crafters could make items, and when they have the amount of stock they desire they can rent a vendor and sell the items.
3. this would also allow people to have "roving vendors". when the lease is up, the crafter can move to a new area and rent there.

hey... thats a **edit** good point! i ceed to you that adding vendors to other professions WOULD indeed steal some amount of xp from merchants. since xp and money (and jedi to most) are what we are playing for... then i abandon the argument on that point. i cant think of a system that would allow a a vendor to be placed without granting the owner merchant xp. since the owner would not be in the business column (as if going for a vendor) or a merchant... this would also create a balance issues. this would create enough of a balance issue to simply morph the problem into a new one.
thank you jedispam for finnaly giving proof to the "this would kill merchants" argument. all of the other posts were appreciated. thank you for an engaging discussion... lets have another one in a week or two when my fingers stop cramping up.
Thank you Pizza,
You had a valid point, but I believe it was centered too much towards a small group of individuals.
Stay cool man.
