Thread: Vendors giving up sales after a week -make your thoughts known
I have to agree. the time limit on the vendors is too short. Make it 30 days, or at least two weeks.
And the STOCKroom time out, if you MUST have it, should be 8 days. This game is supposed to cater to the casual player (yea, I know they don't really) and some people can only get on one day a week, and then people go on vacation, are hospitalised, have car wrecks, and all kinds of other normal unpleasent things that happen and keep people from the computer. The draconian two day limit is too short. If I even go away for theWEEKEND then everything I have on a vendor will be gone, because I restock on fridays.
It's pretty clear to me that the vendor code was just ported over from the existing parallel bazaar code, with only a few tweaks here and there to reflect differences between the public bazaar and private vendor. This relationship can be seen in various places, such as the now-fixed "resource sales bug." That bug also existed on the public bazaar during most of beta. They eventually fixed it for Bazaar, but it took a long time to get it fixed on the vendor system.
I think it's the same deal for the 7-day thing. It was an existing feature of the Bazaar system (and a sensible one in *that* context), and for whatever reason didn't appear horribly at odds with a private vendor to the devs, so they left the code in. Probably, I'm guessing, they never even made a conscious decision about it, and didn't think through the gameplay effects on vendors stocked with a very large number of items.
Now, as I'm getting near to Master, I thought, hmmm maybe now I should set up a shop. After reading the posts here, I'm not so sure I want to do that.
I know this doesn't have any real bearing on what you guys are saying, but I just wanted to let it be known that I will likely not set up a vendor due to the issues you all have mentioned.
I made a post in the general discussion http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=589315
I hate people who just contantly bump posts, but I also hate wasting 3 hours doing meaningless clicking once a week.... so I plan on to coninuly bump it until the devs make a comment.... it's sad that it has come to this, but I fear that if I don't we will get no response for months
Last night , once again.. i had about 100 items fall from vendor.. in which i had to replace , re-price.. and re-do.
This is a VERY bad option.
I have 6 vendors, and each day one spits out 100 + items.. Real fun for the casual gamer
I have to agree it is a real drag having 100+ items come up unsuccessful each day. Why can't they just stay for sale on our own personal vendors? Just make the new tax or whatever they are going to implement reflect that? Just my 2 credits. ![]()
I posted this in general before I saw this thread.

I know there are several merchant issues. Having to re-register the vendor daily, restarting his ad barking, etc, etc. They're minor annoyances in comparison to auctions ending....if anything makes me get rid of my merchant skills, it's this "feature".
As a tailor, I keep a lot of items in stock. People like variety. They like having outfits that look different. More and more people are getting rid of the "I want all black" mentality. So I keep a lot of items stocked up on my vendors. At one time, I can easily have anywhere from 200-400 items on my clothing vendors. I have an architectural vendor for my husband, and it usually has anywhere from 25-100 items on it.
Every couple of days, I get the dreaded emails. My mailbox gains 100 emails, my screen spams the "You have new mail" message, and I close my eyes, clench my fists and sigh...because I know I'm going to spend the next 2 hours repricing everything. This is NOT fun. And since I don't put everything on the vendors all at once, 2 days later it repeats itself...this time it's the field wear vendor, or the architectural vendor, or the accessories vendor.....
Why is this feature in place? The only way it gets rid of items (and helps the server load) is if someone is out of town and cannot replace everything (and this isn't fair to those individuals). I just went out of town for two days because of a family emergency. I didn't log in before I left to reset all my auctions. When I returned, I noticed that 2 hours after I left many of my itemsexpired. If I had been gone a day longer, I would have lost 64 items.
It's a huge timesink to have to resell everything. I'm so tempted to get rid of my management skills and just have one merchant...who will carry one example of each of my master items and tell anyone who enters "Email Austriana with your custom orders".
Now that my guild has opened up another Mall on a different planet, I am finally really seeing this as an issue...Before it didn't really bother me because my house is just moments away from our PA Hall...
But I've been spending a lot of time at this new shop, and items would go to stockroom on my other one...Its difficult to keep up with us...
Please let the time limit be longer on this...I see your point in showing us what items are selling and what aren't, but its more crippling than helpful...
I didnt read one single response to this thread...yet I am 100% sure NOBODY likes this 'feature'.

It is one of the biggest frustrations in the game IMHO. I hate having to delete email spam all the time. I hate having to restock the vendors all the time. It really detracts from my enjoyment of this game.
