Thread: Current Vendor Bugs

I don't know if I would consider this a bug or not, but it certainly seems like a problem resulting from a bit of short-sightedness...

Once you clothe your vendor with a uniform (and/or accessories), you do not have the option to remove those items or get them back in any way. The biggest problem here is that if you equip your vendor with a hat of some kind as part of the uniform, they will always have to wear a hat from that day forward. You can replace it with a hat ofa different style, but there is no way to remove the hat altogether without just deleting the vendor and creating a new one.

Outfitting your vendor(s) with a uniform should, in my opinion, be a bit more flexible. When you change your vendor's clothes, you should at least have the option to get the old ones back. As a Master Tailor, I like to change my vendor's clothing often to showcase cool outfits. Each time I do that, though, it's like flushing 10-15k down the drain.

One possible solution to all this would be to give NPC vendors an accessible inventory for their outfits. The maximum storage for your vendor's inventory would be, I dunno, 15 items but it would count againstthe item cap of your house to prevent storage exploiting. That way you could access this inventoryto add, remove, equip or unequip items in your vendor's uniform.

Just a thought...

Oh, and P.S. - Merchants should either be able to hire Image Designers to do vendor makeovers. Either that or Merchants, especially "highly skilled" ones, should be able to be a lot moreselective when it comes to creating new vendors. Whenever I create a new vendor, it usually takes about 20 attempts before I get one that isn't, um, highly unappealing.

Has there been any news on the Planetary Vendor problems (where they don't show up on the map until the room is entered by a person (thus loading the vendor))? My vendor just doesn't load at all unless someone walks into the building.

Today at 7:10am Pacific time I was on Tatooine on Corbantis and there were only 4 vendors listed on the Planetary Advertising **for the whole planet**. 4 total.

I know it was close to the startup time for the server, but it's still a nuisance. The loading time for the vendors to get on the planetary map after rebootsis slow and unstable, it seems. Even hours and hours after server reboots, vendors still aren't appearing on the list.

Yesterday I checked the planetary map and my vendor was not listed (11pm Pacific). It sat all day drawing no business because of the wonky system. Only after my character entered the building did the vendor magically appear on the planetary listing.

Have the Developerssaid anything at all about this problem?

They haven't said anything about it. They know about it, I honestly don't think they can think of a way to fix it right now with the way the system is built. I have it listed as one of the current bugs to be addressed.

Thank you for your reply Doc. Please, try to stress to them that this is vital to those of us with merchant skills as this flaw is crippling to the "low intensity" businesses like us Droid Engineers. I don't think the fighter professionswould like it if their weapons only to worked a quarter of the time or so, and only when the server feels like it. Put it to the dev's that way.

I'd beenhaving the same problem, and I don't know if it's voodoo or luck or something else, but I've now placed 7 or 8 vendors over a two week period with no problems. Each time I follow this process, so you can try it and see if it works for you.

1) log in, wait for at least a few minutes doing other stuff.

2) Create the vendor, wait about 30 seconds before placing it

3) Place it, wait at least 20 seconds

4) Use radial menu to initialize it, then don't touch it for at least 20 seconds

5) Use the radial to pay exactly 100cr maintenance. Again wait 30 seconds or so

6) Use the radial to select USE VENDOR

7) after it works, go ahead and pay more maintenance

Don't ask why it works, but it has so far. Every time I deviate by either paying a lot of maintenance up front (I used to start with 1000) or by double-clicking before initializing it, or by double-clicking to use (instead of radial) something goes wrong and it never initializes. Sounds like superstition, and it may be. I can only say no problems in awhile now.

Oh my GAWD!!

I had been having some problems with initializing my vendor, saw this, tried it out of desparation. Now mind you at this point I was jaded...thinking "Meh... this is stupid... s'not gonna work..." Imagine my surprise when BOOM...it works PERFECTLY!! Thank you sir!!! You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I haven't seen it listed here, but does merchant XP get calculated for the time the servers are down for patching/resets? I'm missing about 4 hours worth of XP for the last 24 hours (I've seen the XP monitor update), so now I'm wondering if Valcyn has gone down for a few hours since the last reset.

Ok, I have just expierenced one.

When loading my vendor, I had 10 stacks of various resources, it only showed me 7, when I tried splitting them, none of them showed up in the vendor sale window.

I then recombined them, and that item was totally gone from the vendor sale window, even though it was in my inventory. If I put them in a bag, they showed up, but the second I moved one of the 'visible' items into the bag, the whole bag was invisible to the vendor.

Any ideas? LOL

push the 'change item view' at the bottom of the offers window to see the rest of your inventory. And yes it is a bug that they need to fix

I have a few to add, does noone here find it stupid that you cannot move your vendor around like furniture before initilizing it? You must pick up your vendor and try again...

Oh and to "pick up" your vendor means to destroy it... hmmm ok back to the terminal because I dropped it in the wrong place... crud wrong again or actually it would look better in the other place... destroy...back to the terminal...drop once again...

Well?

I thought so, this may be minor but the redundant completion of each and every step everytime you want to change a little is really dumb..oh and what if I change my vendor from say spice sales to chef foods...there couldn't be a change name on the vendor radial cold there? Of course not that would be agains the creed of the merchant class you must destroy your oldvendor that has been there for months and is recognizable and change it to say the same species but a different person all together... oh and why can't I ACTUALLY PICK UP my vendor to move it wht if I want to move the very same vendor to another house? I have seen people move vending machines in real life to other buildings with destroying them. It is simple you should be able to uninitialize your vendor and only if it is empty (to avoid storage exploits) and move it around like furniture. Who put this crap together...

Bugs, we got more bugs than you can shake a stick at...

It takes forever to move from vendor to anotherwhy does there have to be 4 confirmation screens on a sale AND a complete reload of the main vendor window each time? Why can't there be a sale screen seperate from the main window?

Other than that all the bugs that have already been noted are also true...
