No they fixed it. On building no matter how many u have. If someone goes in one of your hosuees and pays then u get xp. and then u must wait 15more minutes. same with vendors. even if it is different houses or vendors.

Hi well im pretty new to merchant (due to my holo saying we at swg want you suffer!!), I have been doing it for just over a week now and have 1,1,1,4 on the tree.

The way I got xp was by setting up a vendor and just selling all stuff for 1 credit such as guns etc..but also good stuff as well such as vasarian brandy, furniture, deeds.

This made people visit this vendor regulary to see what kind of good stuff they could get for basically nothing. I was running at a massive loss of course but the xp I was getting was amazing.

Also guns are good to sell for 1 credit because smugglers can use them for slicing exp.

I now have my maximimum amount of vendors up and running and am just basically restocking them constantly the theory being that people will come back if you have a full vendor.

Anyway this is just me rambling on about crap really so Ill stop now. Just thought id submit this to maybe help other noob merchants like myself out

Merchant xp is pretty straight forward, only a few ways to get it.

1. Having vendors-you get a set amount of xp (I forget how much and how often) for every vendor you have active, they don't have to sell anything or be browsed, they simply need to be up and running and you get a set amount of xp for that.

2. You get a set amount of xp for charging an entry fee into your structure (can be anything price, 1 credit even), not 100% sure, but if it hasn't changed, I believe you get 50 xp for each person that pays to enter your shop, but this is only granted every 15 minutes per person, to prevent the obvious exploit.

3. You get xp for people browsing your vendors, they don't actually have to buy anything, just "use" the vendors are you're granted xp for that, this too is limited by the 15 minute restriction per person, per vendor. Not sure how much xp granted specifically for this though.

Those are pretty much only ways to gain merchant xp, obviously you'd want to go up management line first as the more vendors you have out the more xp you can/will potentially produce.

Probably best way for a new merchant, especially if you don't have things of worth to sell would be to put your vendors in a popular crafters/cities store. That way when people come to buy from these popular people they might just take a peek at yours, especially if you name it something that implies you need help getting merchant xp. This works some-what w/o being in a popluar store, but is much more effective this way b/c no one will have to go out of their way to view your vendor. And also, you could just put up some cheap things like dice or simple fireworks etc and sell them for cheap, just so you have something on their.

the three ways for that:

1. 150xp per hour per active vendor you own

2. 50xp each time someone pays entry fee on one of your buildings..

you might set up a few buildings with entry fee 1cr for 15 minutes (thats min on both) and let people enter them all the time

3. 50xp when someone browses your vendors.. every 10 minutes.. but its not important if he browses one or all.. you can get that

only once per person every 10 minutes..

You should also get merchant xp by selling things on the bazaar. Not sure how much though.

I know that you get xp for each browse and when visistors pay the access fee to enter your house, but I have also heard you get xp each hour for your vendors. Could someone clarify this for me?

In the FAQ, stickied at the top...

"Now that you have reached the top of the Business Tree you have to get 5000 Merchant XP to train the Novice Merchant skill box. This XP is generated by three methods. The first is 150 xp per hour that you get for just having a vendor."

So its a good idea to go up the Management tree of Merchant to get all your 6 vendors and then you'll be getting 6 x 150xp/hr.
