Thread: Poll: Will you Quit Merchant if Vendor Fees are introduced before fixes ??
I've already stripped most of my Merchant skills to put the points where they could actually be useful.
I used to have multiple vendors, with a Twi'lek (my butler) devoted to just resources. However, since the greedy **edited** would never give up the resources whena customer paid for them, I fired him and another vendor as well. Since I didn't intend on hiring another, I dropped the multiple vendor skills.
If vendors become a "money sink" then I can see no reason, even a roleplaying reason, to maintain the Merchant class. I spend enough real time in this game already trying to maintain $$ and power in harvesters, time taken away from family time or other activities. I do NOT NEED another money sink - I seem to never have any as it is.
Drop merchant?
You bettcha.
I'll be using the Carbosyurp token item that everone else will be useing,
...and I bet I will still sell more because of the architects andthat get fed up and will quit. Sad.
Yes, I will.
My original goal was to have one shop on every civilzed planet. I can't do that now because I have to use a small house to put a vendor in and I don't have enough lots for it, and I don't believe I should have to rely on someone else to allow me to set up shop in their home. I have been hoping for a Zero lot solution so that I can be a true Merchant Prince with a big house and stores across the galaxy etc....
If I can't put large quantities of stock (armor and structures) on my vendors without being charged an outrageous amount I can't do this either. The cost of daily restocking runs to the civilized planets will run me out of credits just as fast as the vendor fee's.
In other words, all of those skill points are worthless. I'll keep my Business 3 vendor in my homeand use 1 cr items sold on it to describe my goods and how to contact me to buy them. I'll macro a spiel to yell out as I run through cities and put in a function key slot and spam it on my way through town or waiting for the shuttle telling everyone how to get to my shop.
Not long ago.... Master Artisan...Master Architect...working on merchant
Playerbase that expected me to craft (with high crit failure rates and borked factories I might add) structures that took huge amounts of resources at <3cr/unit of resource consumed. Won't mention the fact that raw resources sell for 5-10 cr/unit on my server.
Became (pre-nerf announcement post)....Master Artisan....Master Architect (only for guild members and people I know in game)...Resource merchant, climbing merchant tree nicely with intent to also sell items crafted by guild members who didn't want to bother with vendors etc.
now...
Master Artisan...Master Architect...Novice Pistoleer
Next month....who knows
Three things truly amaze me about MMORPG game designers.
1) They have no foresight when it comes to thinking about what a change(s) may have on players. Nor do they actually really care.
2) They really have no imagination at all ( I can think ofdozens and dozens of money sinks that would add not take away from the enjoyment of the game).
3) The seemed to be doomed to repeat the same mistakes and inflame the playerbase with the same dumb decisionsmadeby other mmorpg designers over and over and over again.
I just have to add one more thing. SOE is really good about coming out and saying things like "Before we just randomly beat the crap out of you all with a nail filled nurf bat... We would like to propose some thing to you... Here is our suggestion." Then they offer some out ragious senerio like (total value of item /1000) * 30 increments a day. Well that sucks we all know it sucks and scream that it sucks. They arnt supprised and dont eaven have to read the MB because they knew it sucked. Come the day when the half nail filled nurf bat start a swinging they say
"Well we tried different senerios and this seemed best for all... By the way its what YOU wanted cause we listened to what you said on the MB."
You get beat with (total value of items/500) * 30 increments a day. This STILL BLOWS SOE! Dont pull the same political undermining of your customer base that is so well know by all your customers that have been apart of your Online endevor for YEARS AND YEARS... The same situation comes up again and again and again. MOD Rods from EQ? Mana Stones? Kunark Cleric BP? Mana Burn? Countless hits to spells that where once usefull... Fear Kiting in the PoP. CAMPING! My GOD CAMPING FOR 7 DAYS STREIGHT!
And its just sad that EQ was wittled down to a nub of perfection that it could have been. ALONG time ago mind you but it was there. Until the greed that enveloped the dev team by the mindless COE's that havn't a clue about what people want when it comes to MMORPGS. The only thing SOE has learned though its great tryuphs and defeats( SOE is never defeated by the way) is that if they make a game with MASS contect some pretty graphics and an endless supply of meaning less dribble to waste time on people will play it.
Well some of that is true but the real reason why we play it ( listen up you freaking ignorant COE's) is becuse we would love to see a game come out that acutally is enjoyable to play and is worth the time to play it. The "E" in SOE is what we are after. Please just spend the time to at least make the basics of the game work before putting your ass on display for the public! I mean really who is the fool here? The person spending 15 bucks a month in hope to acutally find a game worh playing or the multi million dollar company with all the brain power of NASA (NOT) spending millions of dollars to produce a game that cant even cover the basics Skills like Murchant. And then thinking it would be ok to hang your nasty ass out for the public to view and instead of covering your self up and fixing your mistakes you would rather beat the SOB's ( your customers ) laughing at you?
I quit EQ a while ago... I devoted almost 5 years to it. Then I had kids and thought I would give up games until EQ II came out and see if SOE invested in brain cells some where along the way. Now that I see what SOE is pushing to its customers it just makes me want to ditch this game and forget about EQII.
What a drag the KING is still a whinny money hungry exec that could careless about any thing else other then the bottom dollar...
These proposed changes will prolly force me to get rid of most if not all of merchant. I am a pure crafter, master artisan/master tailor/ soon to be master armorsmith/ half of merchant. I run or rather ran a moderately successfull shop...around 80k a day on fri-sun, and 30k a day during the week, I did so by having a large selection at good prices, giving personal attention to all my customers and so on. These changes will mean i can carry no selection, have to raise my prices to cover expenses becuase i will sell less, make my customers mad and look elsewhere, and force me to quit crafting/merchant all together. Well this is the funest part of the game to me, i have 2 accounts. A ch( all ready nerfed)/ranger(broken class, upcoming changes might help some)/pistoleer(getting nerfed as we speak). SOE, I just dont understand your thinking, so let me explain some simple facts to you. We, your customers are more important than anything else going for you, without us, you will make no money. With your constant nerfing and changing of the way things work you are making far to many people mad. We pay to play, we expect to have fun, not grief. If i treated my customers like you do at work, i would be fired or my company would be out of business. Your customer base should be your number one concern, all we want is to have fun. You are constantly taking the fun out of your game, which happens to be bugged beyond belief. You show no signs of fixing said bugs, but making things harder on us instead, and less enjoyable as well. I prefer a challenge, but will not abide by being abused constantly. Every profession i wanted to play has been nerfed, some worse than others. Every profession i wanted to play has serious issues at hand, that you don't seem to deem worth fixing. This game has huge potential, yet you are working at ruining the only things it has going for it at the moment, rather than adding to them. I have crafted in every game i have ever played, but none of the others have had the potential this game does, with these changes you are reverting to EQ/DAOC type of crafting. To sell our products we will be forced to spam, which is annoying as anything i can think of. I personally will not resort to that, i will quit crafting/merchant which means cancellation of my account, and this is the one that i have more fun with. So, if i am forced to quit this account, you can understand why i will be forced to cancel my other as well. We as players have endured alot of bs so far, a game that is bugged, not being able to log in, extremely poor customer service, sporadic communication from you dev's, nerfs galore, game changing hot fixes that add in more bugs, and the list goes on. Please do not do this, i really think this game can be great, tho it is no where near even good right now. Think about the consequences of what you are doing, fix what is broken, and let balance sort out on its own. Once you fix the bugs, then tweak...quit introducing more bugs every day. Let us have fun, let this be the escape from every day hassles that we are looking for.
I quit before I even started. I added a basic bulky vendor, earned 100cr in two weeks, paid fees out the nose and in the end lost most of my items to bugs. What a huge waste of time and cr. And the skill tree is a waste of skill points.
I can earn more credits in a day using the bazaarthan I could have possibly earned in a year with my own vendor.
Merchant won't be a viable profession until player cities are introduced, they fix all the bugs and they revamp the skill tree.
I've already quit the game. However, since I prepaid for six months I'll still be around until the end of January,if things get better I'll renew. I normally only keep about 100,000 worth of stuff on each of three vendors. That's only about 10k a day in vendor fees....or the price of one small house a day. While the rate in discussion won't bankrupt me, there will be weeks I don't make money. Particularly if a slow sales week is compounded by multiple resource shifts forcing me to move my harvesters. Who wants to play a week and have nothing to show for it but a deflated bank account?
I would gladly paythe new rateif my vendors behaved the way they were supposed to.I suspect justkeeping registered on the planetary map 24/7 would increase my sales enough to justify thedifference. I presentlyhave to factor in 2400 in travel fees daily to reregister my vendors on the planetary maps, I've quit trying to keep them barking it just isn't worth the trouble (especially when you get in the next day and find it facing the wall).
