Thread: There is absolutly no reason why vendors should stay after you drop Merchant.

dropping merchants skills and keeping vendors is currently NOT AN EXPLOIT. It works exactly as described in the game whether you drop the skill or not. There is no blatent attempt to "outsmart" the game that one does by doing this. It works as designed based on the skill description, therefore by using it that way you are NOT EXPLOITING.
Is it cheap? I assume most would say, yes.
Should it work this way? I don't know, I don't see it as a huge problem but you'll disagree with me.
I agree with Naufragus that the main problem is alot of the skills aren't that useful, especially considering the skill points. If the vendor "issue" gets changed, what does the "professional merchant" gain? Pretty much nothing. The 1/2 merchants will just get business 3 and do the same thing, with the same amount of business, as they do now. It'll just be with soda machines instead of Twileks. So what?
Lobby for improved skills that give master merchants a true edge over a business 3 artisan. That'll be much more beneficial to merchants.
We are lobbying for new skills.
"5. Currently it is possible to give up practically all of your merchant
skills without having to give up the vendors that you received as a benefit
of those skills.
We would like to see some suggested changes that would address this
situation. We agree in principle that Merchant Skills should not be
surrendered without the loss of the benefits of those skills."
Can you people learn to read already? Its an exploit.
""REAL MERCHANTS"???...care to explain what makes you a real merchant and superior. anyone who sells an thing is a merchant."
Real merchants are people who didnt use *** exploits to get their vendors. This is a roleplaying game so the only real merchants are people with the skills.
how can you get vendors using exploits? you have to earn the skills somehow before dropping them. you make no sense in your anger. if this is a "roleplaying" game, cant i just role play that i am a merchant or do i have to run around with a merchant tag in my name at all times to be a "real" merchant.
It doesnt matter if you have "Skills" or not. A merchant is someone who sells something. You sell something you are a merchant. you are no more real or better because of your EQ mentality about being Master
You place your vendors and you drop your merchant skills. THATS THE EXPLOIT. You can roleplay all you want but real merchants are people who have the skills. People who roleplay are ROLEPLAYERS. Ohh and btw Inever played EQ.
"it is sad you think that the exploit is somehow holding the profession back. most people are just going to train up to get the number of vendors they feel they need and maintain those skills. not everyone needs 6 vendors like you."
ALL I WANT IS FOR PEOPLE TO KEEP THE MERCHANT SKILLS. Not too many people will do that and REAL MERCHANTS will finally get a chance to do their job.
no they will just get buisnes three and live with the one ugly vendor and still make tons of money while you have 50 points tied up in useless skills. or they will just give up crafting since they have no way to sell their goods. or they will just use the bazaar.
They will not be makingnearly as muchmoney because they dont have the planetary advertising and they cant place shops on 6 different planets. If they give up crafting then yay i still make more money.
"the exploit is not the problem. the worthless skills are"
Yes we have useless skills and we are trying to get them fixed. All your doing is bitching and moaning because you know you will have to spend the points when the bug is fixed.
no you are the one who is bitching..you started the all the threads and want the exploiters heads and have been whining about this for some time. i am not the one who lobbied to have be one of the top 5 issues..because its not an issue to me at all. but you on the other hand are slaivating thinking about other poeple getting screwed over that may not have even know n it was an exploit and thought it was working as intended.
I am keeping the vendors but you can have all the other useless crap
Your an idiot. I did not start any of these threads and i didnt say anything about this being in the top 5. Dont give me the crap about them thinking it was working as intended because nothing else in the game works like that. The only thing your right about is me wanting the exploiters heads. If they exploit they deserve to get screwed!!!
"I make 100,000s off the bazaar a day and dont use any of the merchant skills or those precious vendors.. you dont really need them to sell. i can just stand in some coprner i a city and people will message me and want to buy things without the fancy sign or vendors or ad barking or map listing"
Thats nice but are you in the game 24/7? Most people have lives and dont want to spend hours standing at the starport like a moron and shouting WTS.
lol...i never stand at the starport. i stay as far away from the star port spam as i can. I also NEVER shout sell. please, how tacky. People come to me. i dont have to seek cutomers out. it takes 5 minutes to load the bazaar one or 2 times a day. Thats 75K a load. 150 once the bazaar limit is raised and i personaly hope you feel it is a slap in the face to "real" merchants. so i can make a quarter of a million credits on a good day with out any of you precious skills
I really dont give a crap about the bazaar. I could stick it full of powerups every day and let the cash roll in but i dont need the money anymore. I make millions daily if i keep the vendors stocked. If you like the bazaar so much why dont you just sell there and getthe f off the merchant forum?
"Keep hanging onto those skills, im hanging on to this enron stock too, i know it will be worth something again one day...just got to have patience"
Just keep on exploiting. Im gonna be the guy pointing and laughing at you when this bug is fixed and you come to this forum to whine and bitch.
i am not exploiting. i have management 3 and 4 vendors...where is the so called exploit...or do you also think that having a nice looking NPC vendor and cute sign is also an exploit. get a grip. none of this is hurting you...how are people exploiting if they drop skills and the game doesnt change anything. the game i sbroken. people arent exploiting .. why dont you just worry about selling your weapons, and admiring all your vendors and let every one else have a good time.
your attitude of wanting to see other people hurt is disturbing. it is also selfish and self centered and shows that you can only be happy is you are somehow better than other people
i might be wrong but you have to have come to SWG from EQ. I hope all of your kind leave the this game for EQ2 when it comes out. we will be better off.
Right Im sure you still have those skills. This crap is hurting me and every other merchant out there. Just take a look at the planetary map. Its full of empty shops because every moron can exploit toplace 6 vendors register them and drop the skills. That hurtsour business!!! Vendors not disappearing after dropping the skills is a bug and exploiting means taking advantage of a bug.
I dont want to see honest players hurt I want to see the exploiters punished just like the multi slicers and the dupers. I want this game to be fair to everyone including the master merchants. Why should merchant be worthless?
Your wrong again. I played EQ for about 20 minutes before i uninstalled that POS.
Make your minds up =)
Either they're useless and you don't want them, or they are useful and you'd like them (or it seems in most cases like to keep them).
If it's the latter then pay the skillpoints like every other profession needs you to do...
Is this such a hard concept to grasp?
You people are absolutely right. I mean when a weaponsmith gives up his skills, he doesn't lose the weapons he created but he loses the ability to use the skill of a weaponsmith.
So using that logic you guys should absolutely not lose the vendors you got from the merchant line when you give up those skills. However, you should lose the ability to use those placed vendors.
No longer being able to place items on that vendor for sale. You should still be able to use the stock room though. This is so your items don't go poof but you will still be able to get what items didn't sell off your vendor once the timer runs out and they drop into the stockroom.
It's all good though because we all know the Devs are going to change it to where the merchant class works like it should and not allow people without merchant skills to own vendors.

how is it hurting you... my business has actually improved as time goes by. nothing has hurt anything.
you dont make any sense...if the map is full of EMPTY shops and you have product then it seems you would sell product and they wouldnt.
i dont worry about other vendors...all those skills you are freaking over dont matter. jsut because you have 6 vendors doesnt matter. big deal. what do the 6 vendors do for you that 1 cant?
THE PRODUCT YOU ARE SELLING IS WHAT MATTERS....
Can you read at all?
1. Empty vendors piss off customers. After going through 5 or 10 of they they will give up and just go buy a gun off the bazaar. Having more stocked vendors hurts my business too for obvious reasons.
2. Six vendors allow me to have multiple shops on up to 6 planets. They allow me to separate my items and make it easier for my customers to find what they want.
3. The product doesnt matter. A tired customer will buy the first piece of **edit** he sees just because its the first stocked vendor he found after wondering all over the planet for hours.
"There is no other profession that that requires you to PAY to USE THE SKILLS."
Do you know how much good weaponsmith resources cost?
"I pay 1000s of credits a day in maintance...to you know MAINTAIN them"
OMG a few 1000s of credits you say? That is what like one whole mission on a noob planet? Unless your a noob or a moron your vendors willmake 500k+daily so dont tell me this crap about a few k of credits.
"And the fact that you are gleeful at the 150 limit is just sad. It doesnt "help" the so-called profession. All that is going to do is make things more aggrivating for many players and drive people to list on the Bazaar."
People without merchant skills are supposed to list on the bazaar. Thats how the game was designed.
yes, I get very ticked off traveling 6 hours looking for FILLED VENDORS.
I have bought crap that I wasn't looking to buy but I felt after wasting 6 hours just looking for a stocked vendor, I had to buy something.
I wish they would let us check if the Vendor is filled or not from the bazaar in the cities
HEY!
How bout if I master CHand get4 or5 high level creatures, and then drop all my CH skills???
I should be able to keep and use those high level creatures because I spent the time earning the skills to get them!
Just because I drop the skills to have and use creatures doesn't mean I shouldn't still be able to have and use the creatures I already obtained.
Who cares if everyone has 5 creatures even though they have no CH skills and this causes database problems?
The devs should limit the number ofcreatures CH can have to 1 instead of removingcreatures that people don't posess the skills to have and use.
Or fix the database. Then we could all have 10 creatures without keeping any CH skills.....
"Functioning as intended."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
DUUUH!!!
