Is the vendor name filter specifically for vendors? Or do they use the player naming filter and just apply it to the vendors?
I have the same problem not being able to name my vendors what I want, but I can see this happening if they use the same naming filter for everything. i.e. they dont' want a player named "Medical" but just have one massive naming filter to cover all named objects which infringes on the named vendors as well.

Yep, "Firearms" works just fine. However, "Associate" does not. One of the most logical words to use in naming a vendor, and it's blocked by some half-wit naming filter that makes absolutely no sense.
Just in case the filter catches that too, it was "A s s o c i a t e". Completely professional, and nowhere near obscene, and it's blocked!

I tried naming my vehicle vendor Orange County Choppers....No go, yet West Coast Choppers works just fine...I don't get it.

In the meantime in Coronet the Merchant trainer at the bank (an extremely high traffic area as I'm sure you know) was named RAPE
How funny you should say that.
I have not seen that vendor, But i did have a run in with a CSR who told me to change my GSP's pet name from Rape.
How odd is it that SOE would allow that name but not allow me to use it.
