Thread: So, how's the price war meta game going on your server?

The price war is on, and frankly I am happy. Prior to the bazaar change, I would only get a few sales a month. In just that past few days I have had over 50 sales. I am finally being reward for having some of the best prices on the server and the quality is only slightly behind or equal to the best on the server.
Yes, I agree the Advertising branch is devalued by the change. However, I would argue that the branch had very little value before. Global advertising and merchant barking has never brought me in any new customers. I rarely used it when shopping as most shops listed where either under stocked or overpriced. The good shops where never listed.

There are so many ways this feature could have been better. Its a pathetic attempt to solve the underlying issue of lack of good advertising skills for merchants in the game.

Well, all the price drops in the world won't do me any good, not as long as my stuff appears on page NINE. Except for that one stubborn small Tat house. Lil' bugger pops up on every page. I think he's ambitious or something.

Can you ask them to make the whole damn thing better while you're asking?

Your location must have sucked then. Cause I was doing good sales prior to the patch and my prices were within reason or slightly lower than others on my server. Its more about word of mouth than anything and trust me, word of mouth does happen. I still have the same customers so im not hurting, but this patch was so ill conceived its not funny. Its like the devs all got drunk one night and thru darts to see how this patch would be instituted. Ive seen better lemons from chrysler than this crap publish.

Gone from regular, decent income to zero sales since the patch went live.
Same here.. very disheartening if the only profession you have ever been is merchant.

Before this went live I hated it. Now I don't hate it, just despise the way it works so badly. I have same problem as many of you guys. I have vendors with about 2000 items , yet only the same 2 droids appear for the first 14 pages. I have lowered my prices, not to undercut but rather to bring them inline with the rest of the server and I am located in the Ring of death outside Coronet. Despite this my sales suck. I blame it all on the crappy way items are listed and repeated.
However, today I logged on and thought it was time to whip-out the trusty barker droid. I went from my ''normal'' post patch 4 sales per day to 50.
Maybe I just got lucky, I don't know. One thing I am certain of is the custom is there to be had if only they searched to pages 14 - 18.

Me too! I've sold nothing the past 5 days or so, at least. The first day, I sold more than usual, but after then, it trickled into nothing.
I think i'm gonna drop merchant and chef. I sell absolulety NOTHING now. I used to have a nitch carved out.

that's the spirit!
in the face of obstacles or adversity, give up!

Not sure. I went from a thriving buisness during the winter to nothing around jan. Then a few JTL loot sales which is mostly what I had since Jan. After the patch sales on my resource vendors did pickup. Since I am in
a mall with prices 2.5-5 cpu for most mineables and am going against a famous 2cpu resource seller and at least one 1cpu going out of business seller I was pleased to see that I did get some increase in sales. From reading the logs they are a variaty of new customers. I should poll them to see if they came from the GWVS. I bet they loved finding that 1cpu vendor even if they did buy something special from me.
On a related note I have tonnes of old and Hi Q resources that I would like to place out on the vendors but I
am not willing to guess at the subdivisions the customer will want and not sure I want to face thousands and thousands of relists each month. Maybe if I sold only 100k lots and only at 5cpu the restocking might be tolerable.

The first couple of days Ihad alot of sales, but since then it has been one or two sales every day
my resources seem to be the only things selling with the odd loot sale and my top end loot(pearls crystals holo's etc)has stopped . It's not life or death and I will hang in there

Well those jedi resources might be slowed due to the CU possibly. Have you gone out and searched the galaxy vendor system to see what others are selling at? While I hate a lot of the features of the search, it does give you an easier way to compare with other sellers.

For older resources, you might try breaking up a 100k brick and sell them at increasing cpu to see at what price the sales stop at.
