Here's my idea for reasonable limits:

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors.
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (99) items, for a total of (198) items for all vendors - one full page per vendor
Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (150) items, for a total of (450) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (175) items, for a total of (650) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (199) items, for a total of (995) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1500) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (7) Vendors, that will hold (500) items, for a total of (3500) items for all vendors

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors.
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (150) items, for a total of (300) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (150) items, for a total of (450) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (200) items, for a total of (800) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1250) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (300) items, for a total of (1800) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (7) Vendors, that will hold (275) items, for a total of (1925) items for all vendors

Mastering acrafting profession (in this example, Tailor)gets a bonus to items per vendor(+25): example, Master Tailor/Merchant Management 4(note: the crafting profession here HAS to be Mastered for the effect)

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (75) items, for a total of (75) items for all vendors.

--------------------------------------------------(cutoff point for non-Merchants)------------------------------------------------------------
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (175) items, for a total of (350) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (175) items, for a total of (525) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (225) items, for a total of (900) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1250) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (275) items, for a total of (1650) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (7) Vendors, that will hold (300) items, for a total of (2100) items for all vendors

- These are the most number-friendly figures I could come up with that would please myself and hopefully make SOE's database manageable. (these numbers probably won't please a lot of people but then again I'm not a great peacemaker/compromiser like say... Henry Kissinger, plus we still have no idea of SOE's thoughts on compromise)

-This would give crafters a bonus that will make them happy (Merchant/Crafters will be able to list more and will have a slight advantage, but then again I think the power of the economy should be shifted more to crafters anyway)

- Merchant will be a much more relevant class to level up in... (without novice Merchant, a crafting profession can display 75 items at Artisan Business 3... plenty of incentive to take Merchant as a second class in addition to being a crafter)

I'm a master merchant and master weaponsmith. My needs would be met if the capis 600 for each vendor for master merchant for a total of 3600 items.

Gah! thanks again for making posts editable, oh wonderful wizards of web/database/server programming:

Merchant Master Get (7) Vendors, that will hold (300) items, for a total of (2100) items for all vendors

Like I said before... no one else may like these numbers but it's what I can live with...

1000 items per vendor at master merchant (6000 items total) would be ok with me, as long as items in a backpack count as 1 item.

This post made me laugh.

Wanna know why?

I never ever saw a vendor with 1K item.

I saw maybe once or twice a vendor with more than 500 items.
Maybe 10-20 vendor with about 500 items.

Quite a few with 200-300 items.

Alot with 0 to 200 items.

Curent limit is too low, but 1K per vendor is way too high too.

You must not get out much...

1k per for master I would consider minimum for the time we invested for me to stay in business.

You sure?

So far I didn't saw alot of people talking about the shop they go.
They just talk about their shop and how a limit lower than 5K per vendor would kill their business and make them unable to sell anything.

I'm still looking for logic.

then clearly you are not much of a merchant or a consumer....but feel free to argue your nonsense...when this goes live and you can't find a vendor at all, hope you'll be happy.

Why not? We have been posting the limitations that we feel we need and/or are acceptable to us, and WHY, and you just say no, no, no, but do not tell us WHY NOT. Is it because you are my mommy and you said so, that's why?

And to Gavvot who wrote that no one was posting about vendors they frequent as customers, check the customer complaint posting, there are some there, including the one I go to for my armor, although I can'tremember the name of the vendor, as I'm not in game right now, but you can bet I have a waypoint set to it.
