Yep. Instant Galactic Advertising at Business III now. The entire Advertising tree is really pointless at this point. There is no reason to have it. Even the tent is a waste of time. Who cares what structure your pick up vendor is sititng in?

At least now I can free up some sp for other things! Maybe go back and get master artisan again.

Yes I suppose even this abomination has a silver lining. Mabye I'll convert my merchant to a Scout with Business III and sell my organics on the Galactic bazaar....

Yeah..you know, I've always been a merchant...but seriously, what the hell is the point anymore? It's been so long and all we get is this...well, I guess there was the shift to 30-days sale duration..but whooopy doo..I give up...dropping what i can in merch and doing..whatever else

I'm with you Andy, the difference between actually BEING a merchant and 'someone who sells schtuff' has been negated.

This is the biggest slap in the face I've seen in a LONG time, and I've been here since launch day.

How long does everyone give the little guys... *evil grin*

(I don't like this change but I'm sure as heck going to make the best (most profit off) of it!)

This change is bad for smaller vendors who for whatever reasons have lower volumes and higher prices...or a lesser known brand. It's going to be a tremendous advantage for larger established vendors who have economies of scale, higher volumes, and well-known brand names. What I think this is going to force is a collapse of the number of smaller shops/vendors, unless they find ways to differentiate their products and services.

For a lot of crafters, this is really going to be no fun....because it's going to force them to take less time to have fun and more time "working" at the game....which I would think is the opposite of what SWG wants to achieve, given their desire to level the monetary playing field.

=============================

I've said this same thing before on the prior threads that went nuclear. Let me set you all straight.

You are destroying community glues in this game. The things that worked to make and bind communities is being completely wiped out by this move. I refuse to participate in this venue, will not list on the galaxy-wide searches and will openly encourage the vendors in SiN CiTY Dantooine (Tempest) to completely boycott this as well.

Developers, for you to show absolutely no economic acuem to anchor development, community awareness and guild cohesiveness is the abasement of your crafting community. In its purest form, you fundamentally show that you have no understanding of the core players in this game that work to keep your customers involved in group activities. You are killing your owncustomer loyaltyviability.

Correspondents, I expect you all, especially the crafters and merchants, to be against this change which was NEVER asked for nor wanted by the very group it destroys. If you, the supposedly most respected group from the devs POV, do not see the damage that will be created by this change, SWG is done.

I don't want this, and it's insulting to me that they took this back to development to "change" it, and they did absolutely nothing. I for one refuse to register my vendor on the search, no matter how much that will hurt my business.

And I will register,
I will not change my pricing,
my lableing,
or the effort I put into my shop and customers.

I will make use of the new feature but I will still continue to be the Merchant who takes pride in being a merchant.

I am not going to register, most of the cheaper crafters are people who have built up an initial stock over many months and then set up a vendor and try to move it, then one of two things happen

1. raise prices because they cant keep up with demand
2. burn out and dump

very few crafters especailly in my trade can keep up with high volume of the highest quality and have below market prices. I have seen it many times over and over and this will be no different.

My plan and I have discussed this with my business partner is to not register and let my competition burn off their inventories at their below market prices in days, then where will the people come to when others can't kepp up? yep my shop where it is always stocked with whatever you need the highest quality. It maybe a more expensive but it's there for you and that has value, maybe not to l33t kiddie who wants the best for free but to many it does.

I have to agree with Andy. I've had my Master Merchant for over a year and it's now basically useless. As a merchant who has spent over a year and worked really hard to develop his business and become successful. I really feel that this patch takes what me and other merchants have done to become successful and makes it irrelavent.

This change is a terrible idea. It will destroy the merchant profession and eliminate competition at the same time. Small time crafters and new crafterswill not have a chance to compete with the big guys. Shop location becomes meaningless.

I am against this change even though it will make me VERY wealthy. There are few new weaponsmiths who can compete with me based on price or quantity. I will simply burry the new guys.

All this because some new players are too damn lazy to shop and SOE still thinks prices are too high. How dissappointing.
