I understand that, being a merchant, I have to face ups and downs of the general economy in the galaxy. And I also understand that putting items up for sale doesn't mean it would be a hot items and be snapped up by keen buyers immediately. But after the release of Sept 4th patch, the demand suddenly dried up. I just would like to know if this is just a coincidence or something else.

Even if buyers showed up and ultimately completed their transactions, my merchant EXP bar didn not move even a bit. And it takes a whole night [like 12 hours] to gain just 200 merchant EXP. Could any kind soul tell me how that merchant EXP works?

Same problem here. Though I did test it with a friend and I do get xp when someone looks at my vendor. But the 150/hr thing seems to be broken.

I was wondering if someone could explain how merchant Exp works. If Bob buys something from my store i get Exp from it. Now if Bob comes back in a few days to resupply on Droid Batteries do I get Exp for that? And does price affect how much exp you get? Just wondering...having a hard time getting merchant exp.

There is a guid at the top of this forum that answers your questions and more. But briefly, it matters not at all what Bob buys or doesn't buy. You get 150 xp per hour per vendor. You get 50 xp everytime someone accesses your vendor (with a time limit of 10 minutesbetween each visit

I was told that only other people looking at my vendors and keeping it loaded would give me exp. I was wondering if this was true. If i look at my own vendor will I get exp? If I just stand near it and Keep it loaded in the world will I get the 150 exp/hour?

Any clarification on this would be great.

It has been a long time since I did Merchant and now I have to help a friend while overseas and was wondering how do you get the XP now. It use to be you got it just for having vendors but obviously not the case since I haven't logged on in weeks and he has only like 50 XP now. Any help would be very helpful.

You need to go to the room the vendors in, open one up and wait a little bit. The XP gets "banked" and will come in a large chunk when you do this.

Merchant XP comes from three sources.

1) You get a certain amount every hour for every vendor you have.

2) You get a certain amount every time someone pays an entrance fee of yours to enter a building.

3) You get a certain amount every time someone looks at one of your vendors (but this one is only counted once every ten minutes or so).

The problem is that the system only loads objects when they need to be loaded. As a result if no one has visited your vendor in a while, it won't be loaded into the world, and as a result won't be giving you xp.

This is easy to fix though. All you need to do is get someone (yourself included) to walk past the vendor so the vendor needs to be loaded, and then the system will give you all the xp you have earnt from that vendor since the last time it updated you.
