And He said "Let there be commas!"
And there should be. -.-;
I have counting zeros in vendors. What ever happened to the rule of math, every three zeros gets a comma? Geesh. Would make things so much easier...

I don't know about that being a "rule of math." If you want to get academic, scientific notation would be better.

I think that someone yelling "Buffs for 10k" would get more business than "Buffs for 1x10e4"
Point. Maybe it should use "metric" notation instead of scientific notation? That'd be pretty slick. Less screen space, and even easier to read than commas.

Yes, making this easier to read would be very nice.
I'd like to see it implemented. Should be a simple thing I would think.

I asked a dev about this at fanfest...
I can't remember the guys name. He was from QA, and he conducted the session by himself because TH was double-booked. ANYWAY. He was explained that SWG development happened two ways: a code change (a difficult change/fix) and a script change (an easy fix). As the session went on, it devolved into everyone asking, "would it be easy or hard to fix [insert annoying bug here]?" Most things it seems, are difficult to fix.
So I asked, "How hard would it be to add commas to large numbers in the game?" "That would be super easy," he said as he scribbled in his developer notebook.
Cool! Super easy!

Oh lord... I can see it now:
Players to Devs: We want Commas for our vendors.
Devs to each other: Commas? That couldn't be right. They must have meant Karma.
Devs to Players: Due to overwhelming player requests, we have added a system of Karma whereby you will earn Karma for every ugly vendor you allow to work in your shop. You will earn Karma every time a player accesses one of your ugly vendors (up to once every 6 hours except on days beginning with "T" when they fall on an odd numbered day). Once you have earned 1000000 Karma, you can visitthe Trade Federation Bookkeeper who spawns randomly on Lok once a day for 12 minutes. He will take all of your Karma and give you a quest in which you must sell 6 chance cubes for 100000cr each to 6 different players within 15 minutes. If you succeed in this quest, you will receive a random item that can be made by any novice artisan using inferior resources. Enjoy!

_KernMist wrote:/sign Commas areA Good Thing (TM)As for how it's formatted would it be too much to ask that the client (shock horror) uses the Native format of your OS as set in the Regional and Language Settings?
You know, because I don't have a qwerty keyboard, I cannot use the \ key ingame, and so cannot use colors in chat/description/name of product.
So the client can do everything, I'm kinda carefull about that.

Yay for commas !
I recently went on a resource shopping spree at 3:00am, and being a little tired, did not read the right amount of zero's in the price of the gas I was buying. So, after buying 10stacks of 10K of what I thought was a super bargain (what was I thinking ?) @ 10000cr per stack, I looked at my wallet in horror ! I had 572346 credits left ! Aaargh ! What went wrong ? Er, yep, it was 100000cr per stack...
So how many of u reading this had to count the zero's in the above paragraph ? If I had written "10,000cr" and "100,000cr", it would have been a breeze, yeah ?
Please, please, give us comma's !
