Thread: If I surrendor merchant skill back (Hiriing)...what happens to my Ithorian Vendor?
Considering how buggy the inventory management system software is for vendors ... if you have any value in serving your customers, I would recommend removing the items and restocking. All you need are 100 bugged inventory items to haunt you.
I do believe it is a fair question to ask ... lord knows this profession is goofy enough (sorry in a pissy mood today with my broken merch XP problem) .... but as the others pointed out, it did seem like you were trying to take advantage of a software issue to get a "free" high level vendor.

Ben,
Three people have now stated that they got the impression you were hoping that the vendor would just keep working. Time to stop ranting at us and just accept that as worded your request seemed like it meant something you didn't want it to mean.
We've moved on now you're going to test the issue, let us know how it works and I hop you will bug it if it doesn't work the way that makes sense and isn't open to exploiting. Lets move forward with that.
Doc,
I will test the issue and let you know. But your non-answer to qualify or come up with a valid arguement other than "seemed", againstmy logical breakdown of my question, doesn't say much for your analytical skills regarding non-cohesive language mechanics.
If you want the subject to drop, fine. Just know that without you defending your "seem" argument with more than "seemed" as your evidence, that your arguement is without merit or foundation. Doesn't matter that 2 (not 3...Marqie clarified her statement) people thought the same thing. How many that haven't posted here thought that? I don't know and you don't know. So either come up with a defense or choose not to. If you can show how my question can be interrpretted as attempting to exploit with evidence other than "seems like you were saying..", then your statement would have validity and I could accept that. If you choose not to defend your stance (as you are currently doing), then you will show your forum brothers that you can't validate arguments or points that you bring up. The choice is yours.
It's a shame this thread spiralled away from what was an interesting question. I ran into the same conundrum after running out of skill points a whiel back. I'm Master Architect/Master Artisanwith a touch of pistoleer, for a change of pace!, and had to reluctantly ditch a load of skills (scout/medic)to get anywhere near the template I'm aiming for.
My difficulty is I bought a couple of the merchant hiring skills just to try out the different NPCs. Purely as a matter of personal choice, I ended up goingback tothe human female NPC who I could have placed without wasting points on the higher-level hiring skills.
Posters above mention unloading the vendor, but when you're carring 150 bits of furniture, another 40 resource piles plus a load of homes and structures, it's just not that simple. I have a second home which is bursting at the seams and I'm constantly juggling and deleting stuff in my bank just to make a bit of room. Needless to say, my main house/showroom is permanently housing 150 items (the limit on a medium).
I started reading the thread because, like the original poster, I no longer need the higher level hiring skill but had it when I placed my human npc vendors. I'm too scared to surrender it in case they all go *poof!* - taking my stock with them! ![]()

The only people I've ever seen using a non-npc vendor is resource sellors because of the bug with the NPC ones.
Noone should use exploits, and in my mind the maintenance bug is an exploit. You don't get more sales because it is an NPC vendor and everyone knows about the bug by now.
BTW yes I use a NPC vendor. If Sony puts in the same fees as the droids have now on the NPC's I will be giving up having a vendor. As I'm guessing a huge amount of others will as well.
hey...look...a fellow Eclipser. Good thoughts last two posters. Another scary and dangerous item.
I was going to test my skill check bug yesterday, but when I placed a vendor, I chose female twi'lek and for the first time ever (3 times in a row) I got a different twi'lek female. Not the standard dress wearing one. So now I'm scared. I started loading items onto this vendor so I could sell the skills back and see what happens with my Ithorian, but i'm wondering if Skill Two Hiring, doesn't give you different looking twi'leks? If so, then I'm screwed. I would assume that when I sold the skill back, the differentl looking twi'lek would also disapear.
So, I'll let someone else try this out. Until we know for certain, I'm keeping my hiring II skill.
