Hmm... rather than adding this to the merchant skill tree... I would like to see a merchant terminal as a new feature for politicians to add to their cities.
this would be awesome as well, but i think the original idea should be implemented with it too. after all even though they are NP cities, they are still cities, and the true metros of the galaxy anyway. I do think that if they implement this into the NPcities, that it should be a new PC item as well.
In all honesty, i believe a revamp of the city bank terminals would suffice.
The bank terminals currently hold 3 banking terminals ... who needs three banking terminals?
Why not make one a bank, one a galactic bazaar (would have to go to bazaar where item was purchased from to pick it up) and one be a merchant terminal (would have to go to vendor where item waspurchased from to pick it up.)
This would mesh all life in the galaxy together much better. It would give ppl incintives to travel to places where they normally would not travel. It would benefit the economy, as EVERYONE would be competing for the best prices vs. best stuff. It would keep ppl from visiting empty vendor after empty vendor only to go home w/o what you were looking for in the first place and wasting countless hours doing so.
AGAIN .... LOVE THE IDEA!!!
I have vendors and see that it would help greatly. They could still make the customer go to the vendor to retrieve the item the same as any other purchase off the bazaars now. And as a customer as well, I hate searching for vendors that are NOT empty.

Great idea. So long as they have to travel to the shop to buy the stuff - otherwise player cities would be even deader!

One problem with this is that it robs player cities of income from those people searching for the best deal.
A way tocombat this, and make player cities more useful than they are now, might be to allow these terminals only in player cities. Have them include only the vendors within that city's limits. Players would still have to fly around from city to city shopping for the best deal, but they wouldn't have to wander from house to house checking every vendor.
Also, having such a terminal would potentially unbalance the Merchant profession, obviating the need for Advertising III. Lower level merchants would have the same chance of making sales as higher level players. I think listing should be reserved for those with Advertising III or better.

The gems in the above post is "player cities more useful than they are now".
If a player city reaches level 2, searches should acknowledge that land mass as a viable area to report.
For example, my SiN CiTY is level 5 on Tempest Dantooine. When someone purchases anything or searches for a character they receive back that the event is located in Moss Rishin, or something like that. Now nowhere in the game, and especially on the world map, is this place labelled. But if you open the world map SiN CiTY is right there. Why not make those searches reflect player cities as a result if and when a merchant product search is initiatied?
