Hmm... rather than adding this to the merchant skill tree... I would like to see a merchant terminal as a new feature for politicians to add to their cities.

Why not make it both? Politician skill tree to place it an activate it. Merchant skill tree to qualify to be seen on it/use it.

Bingo
both good ideas.
let me toss this out there too. How about a search botton on these terminals where you typ in the name of a reasourse and if a vendor is on this network set up by the merchants and politicans and has the exact reasource you get a waypoint the cost and the amount of the reasource available. Think how much time THAT would save

But will devs pay attention to this proposed change? They seem to get an ego-boost from ignoring players' suggestions.

Good lord... Do you have partial ownership of all the vendors in your sig???
If so.. you have completed the "empire" which I am attempting to build lol.

My alt Polyphemos has 12 vendors, for general resources.
My alt Memnon has 6 vendors: starship resources (3), med resources (2), hide-meat-bone (1).
My two alts have resource vendors on all 7 SWG worlds where structures can be built.

One problem with this is that it robs player cities of income from those people searching for the best deal.
A way tocombat this, and make player cities more useful than they are now, might be to allow these terminals only in player cities. Have them include only the vendors within that city's limits. Players would still have to fly around from city to city shopping for the best deal, but they wouldn't have to wander from house to house checking every vendor.
Also, having such a terminal would potentially unbalance the Merchant profession, obviating the need for Advertising III. Lower level merchants would have the same chance of making sales as higher level players. I think listing should be reserved for those with Advertising III or better.

If there's one thing most people hate.. It's sifting through vendor, after vendor, after vendor...
I am starting this petition to solve that problem and also help our entire economy in a big way...
I think it would be a HUGE benefit if the devs looked into placing a "merchant terminal" at every major city. A skill could be placed in the merchant tree allowing for "merchant terminal advertisement".
Players then could simply walk up to the merchant terminal, and use it like a bazaar terminal, select planet and general region they want to search on, then select type of item they want to purchase. Then sift through a list of all items being sold by vendors in that selected area!
This would potentialy be a VERY easy addition to the game, and would save players countless hours of sifting through empty vendors....
If you agree that this addition to the game would benefit SWG greatly, and deserves the devs attention, please /sign..
Thx for your time.
i was thinking of an idea about the same as this. I was about to post it til i saw this thread.
my idea was to have a listing fee for bazzar PoP access.
say 500 a day maintance or whatever to list your items on the bazzar.
you have a resource vendor that is listed under the cntrl+v as a resource vendor. at master merchant you could list the items on the bazzar under the resource section for a daily maintance fee.
Your items wouldnt be listed with the bazzar items but under the resource section on the bazzar you would have an addition tab for your own vendor. Then people on the same planet as you could access your vendor through the bazzar. You would still need to go to the merchant vendor to pick up but you could purchase it from the bazzar.
Only problem i see is that the devs would have to make a code that would not allow vendors to be deleted while items were waiting for pick up. and give a 7day limit to the available item pickup.
The items are already in the server database so i dont think it would add too much lag to add a dif access point for the information. but it would save players a ton of time and add another perk to the master merchant proffesion that is lacking atm.

I don't think this would be true. As it stands, I only bother going to the largest player cities, as it is not worth the effort of visiting the smaller only to find they have little I want. If I could tell exactly where what I am looking for can be bought, and at what price,I would be more likely to visit the smaller player cities or independant vendors in out of the way locations.
This would really help the smaller merchants.
