Thread: Focus Thread: Vendor Search System on TC

Also on the listing page is a button called "get waypoint"
If this change had stopped there, all would have been right with the world.
You could have found an item you were looking for and gotten a waypoint to a vendor that had it.
You'd have never gone to a "loot" vendor that didn't have the "tumble blender schematic" you were looking for.
Much more efficient than the current system without taking away from merchants.
I've put two items up for sale on TCthat are clearly identified as a vendor search test.
Feel free to look and see if you can find them.
If you REALLY want to buy them, I'll gladly take the cash donation for my TC character. She's poor.

Since you can't sort by price the chances someone undercutting everyone else is very small. That you can view the prices by double clicking is also good, I think.
If someone takes the time to click through 4000 crates of brandy to find the cheapest... well he deserves itI would agree, but the details box has forward and back buttons that makes it really easy to browse through items. This makes it really easy to shop by price. In fact, the prices come up almost instantaneously. The other details take a little bit to load in.
True, but you still have to go manually through 100 items per page, memorizing the lowest price, comparing it, checking if its actually the item you want etc.
Its nothing compared to "Sort by price - check upper line of the page for lowest price - hit Next Items"

You found my survey tool? It is actually a bugged one from the time when you could rename items you made in Japanese.

EDIT: forgot to note some silly person named gyopi and getting character happy on the names for a survey tool, sheesh these crafters and their crazy ideas...

Check out the patch notes in this thread.
Please post your feedback over there, but I've created this thread specifically for merchants to have discussions that won't be lost amongst the static of the general population.
I would ask that you provide feedback specifically from using the system on TC and not just your opinions based on what you've heard about the system.
Please try to keep your feedback constructive. The system can still be tweaked before going live. Ranting about it accomplishes nothing.

I would like to suggest that the automatic delivery feature needs to be removed. Now, I understand the extensive griefing issues involved would doing this, so I would like to propose a "secure delivery system" whereby a player would still be required to pick-up the item from the vendor, but be assured that they can do so:
- Player searches public bazaar for an item.
- Player finds an item that meets their satisfaction. At this point, they can either obtain a waypoint to the vendor or request a price quote.
- If they request a price quote, then the price of the item will be displayed after a small delay. The purpose of this is to difficult to compare prices.
- At this point, the player will be queried as to whether they want to purchase the item.
- If the player choses to purchase the item, a receipt is put in their inventory.
- The player travels to the vendor and uses it.
- One tab presents the player with a lists of items they have purchases (just like public bazaar).
- To retrieve an item, the player needs the corresponding receipt in their inventory.
- Once the item has been retrieved, the receipt will be removed from their inventory.
So, how does this prevent griefing? Simple. If the player travels out to the vendor and finds they have been banned from entry, then they can go back to a public bazaar terminal and present the receipt for a refund. The funds come directly out of the holdings of the player that owns the vendor, plus a processing fee by the Galactic Trade Commission.
This secure delivery system also has application to the GCW.For example, consider a pure crafter aligned with a faction. Traveling to particular vendors might be dangerous. In this case, I can hire a trader to go pick the item up for me. To do this, the player that purchased the item has a receipt. They can trade this receipt to the trader. When the trader picks up the item, the vendor sees that the player doesn't own the receipt. In this case, rather than giving the trader the actual item, it places an otherwise uselessbox (or some kind of package)in the trader's inventory. When the trader deliver the item, they trade it to the player that purchased it, and it is automatically "unbundled" for the player. Of course, it is up to the player and trader to negotiate the delivery fee ![]()

In addition, I believe that the ability to turn this feature on should be a skill that needs to be tied to Advertising IV (since this feature pretty much makes barking droids useless junk). Also, I believe that this should work no different than putting your vendor on the planetary map in that it should increase the cost of vendor maintenance when enabled.

I have to ask, did you try out the feature on test? have you fully read the new threads concerning the features that exist?
There is no instant delevery, currently you must travel to the vendor it is on to get it.
Unless I missed something, which i have been on TC all morning poking vendors and bazaar and sorting and I am fairly sure I haven't.

My bad, just figured that out ![]()
However, without instant delivery, it is clear from other posts that I have read that a merchant can grief players that have purchased items on public bazaar. Thus, I still believe that this "secure delivery system" has merit.

If I'm understanding this right then you have the following scenario:
- Jay Erk is extremely annoying and/or abusive to Mur Chant and get's himself on Mur Chant's shop ban list.
- Jay Erk, knowing he is on Mur Chant's ban list decides to get revenge and heads to the nearest bazaar.
- Jay Erk buys one of Mur Chant's items and, knowing that he is banned from the store, immediately returns the receipt for a refund.
- Mur Chant is charged a processing fee for Jay Erk's refund.
- Jay Erk buys another item and, knowing that he is banned from the store, immediately returns the receipt for a refund.
- Mur Chant is charged another processing fee for Jay Erk's refund.
- Jay Erk buys yet another item...
I think you can see where this is going.

You might have a point there...

Good point. So, scrap the processing fee.
