Thread: ARTISAN BUSINESS 3 VENDORS. LETS VOTE AND GET IT OVER WITH.
Of course, my vote is no.
"Earning merchent exp is nothing compared to grinding weaponsmith, armorsmith, droid engineer, etc or the combat skills of kill, heal, kill. heal, etc."
I can tell you personally merchant xp takes longer to get then weapon and armor xp. I kinda master merchant and weaponsmith. Guess which I got first? Weaponsmith. And guess what? I had a vendor before I was novice weaponsmith. So If it was so easy why didn't I master merchant first? I sold all my d18's and scouts and stuff the first week the game was open all from a vendor. Went up additional vendor tree first and had 6 vendors rolling. Factory made weapons asap and kept vendors stocked and sold the $%@ out of stuff. No one can say merchant is easier then the grinding professions. It's less work on your fingers but time wise it a lot longer.
Don't get me wrong. I love the Merchant profession. This is the only game that actually HAS a Merchant profession. I respect the work being done to better the Merchant profession.
However, please note the 3 direct objects I used in the above paragraph. Actually, it was a single direct object repeated 3 times. "the Merchant profession" (ok, so it's a clause, sue me).
My stance on the matter is that I want to see the Merchant profession improved over EVERYTHING else. I don't care for Artisans...in my opinion, Artisans need to be quiet and go pick up a real class...who the heck just stays an Artisan anyway? However, I don't want to put forth an iota of effort to doing something which does not directly improve the Merchant profession.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again....Merchant + no Artisan vendor = Merchant. Nothing added at all.
Please, let's collectively join in and push for the improvement of the Merchant class. The Artisan vendor has NOTHING on us. We SHOULD have the power to construct galaxy-wide business networks, massive advertising campaigns, and pump out massive profit margins due to our high efficiency and business-sense. Our profession should give us the skills and tools needed to build this.
People, take a step back and look at this profession. Look at what a complete joke it is! Advertise on the planetary map? Are you serious? You get more advertising from posting on a forum board! 20% decreased cost on structures? That's a miniscule amount of savings for a level 4 skill. Hiring! Vendors! It's insulting! I went up the Hiring tree before all the others...I wanted to see the cool vendors that I would be able to place in an interesting shop/locale (anyone on the Naritus server will tell you that my shop just cannot be beat in the "nice" factor). What did I get? Ugly NPCs that I couldn't customize (this is at level 4, mind you), and that wouldn't even wear the clothes I gave 'em. A BUG! A BUG screwed up what I wanted to accomplish.
Am I frustrated? Possibly. I expected a lot from the Merchant class, and of course, now I'm horribly disappointed. I'd like to see the bugs cleared up, and then I'd really like to see the Merchant profession's market abilities revamped and improved. If there's one class that DOES need off the wall ideas, and huge system and engine changes, it's the Merchant.
I don't want the vendors removed from Artisan Business discipline. I want the vendors to remain in the Artisan Business disipline. I don't have any idea if my vote is a yes or a no, hehe.. I just know I like Artisan the way it is and would like it to remain untouched...
Please, let's collectively join in and push for the improvement of the Merchant class.
Exactly!! This is why I reacted so negatively to this thread, let's put it behind us and build some real tools to improve our business.
No, leave merchent in Busness 3.
Do you realize how expensive the bus3 merchant is to run? Anyone who is doing any amount of selling will automatically grab novice merchant anyway.
