Several of us have seen that this is not the case. If you leave your house and no one visits, the vendor unloads. No exp.

Well even that is annoying, but I'm just trying to get a handle on whether you are losing xp or if it is just being stored until the vendor is loaded by the server the next time? My experience over the past two days is that I am getting my xp just not until the vendors are loaded which is an inconvienience but it isn't a disaster. Losing XP completely would be worse.
Let me understand... the vendor "exists" and therefor gives you XP only when someone is in the house ? How much do you think a customer can stay in a house ? Surely not hours. This most definitely suck. I only need to get 5k merchant XP in order to be Novice Merchant and have 2 decent vendors.
Ibet they wanted to reduce the lag and had this smart idea to uninizialise vendors when there is none around. Very nice idea... too bad that the collateral effect is that the entire xp system for merchants has been broken. LOL I could bet it.
From my experiences out in Remote Naboo (since moved but thats another whole kettle of fish) I only had experience if the vendor was loaded during that hour. If I was offline all night and had no visitors - no experience. If I am online and in the house then yes experience, if I am online off hunting resources for a couple of hours and noone visits the shop then no experiences for the hours I am not there to make them load.
Well ain't this nice then. At least as explained in the other thread about the harvesters existing only upon loading, they have acquired the correct amount of ore while you were away. If merchant xp is not accruing correctly, how can anyone gauge their next qualification and adjust their business plan to accomodate the new skill gains?
And how is Global Advertising "Fixed" if you still have to go to your vendor(s) so it(they) will load into the world to startadvertising each morning? Oooh, we don't have to manually reset it anymore, just show up, give the vendor an evil look so he goes back to work? Ah huh. Okay. /sigh
No exp even if I'm online, unless
someone vists the shop when the vendor exp is due to be granted.
The extra 50exp for the vendor view tells me that.
Or I stay logged on in my shop doing my entertainer macro. Did this over night and got the exp I use to get before the patch.
I check on my shop when I log in, then I go off to look for new stuff to sell or just do missions. If I do that and no one enters my shop during that time I get zip, zero, nada exp.
Just my experiances though.
My Theory:
When someone walks into the house, the merchant is loaded. Once loaded, every minute it will do a check:"Has it been more than 60 minutes since the last time this vendor gave out xp?" If it has, it resets that time and gives you 150 xp. The vendor unloads when you leave the house.
If my theory is correct, then what this means:
As long as you are in the house every 60 minutes, and see the xp tick in, you're fine to go out and "play" for the next 59 minutes, come back in 60 minutes, load the vendor, and boom, you get your xp for that hour.
Suppose you stay out there for 90 minutes instead of 60.... what'll happen is you'll miss out on "30 minutes" of xp. So let's suppose you stay in your house for a while..and you get xp at 1:10, 2:10, 3:10. But then after you get xp at 3:10 you leave and don't come back for 2 hours. You were SUPPOSED to get xp at 4:10, but no one was around to load the vendor for it.... tick, tick,.... suppose you come back at 4:30. Well the vendor will load, recognize you are due for xp, and give you another shot of xp. BUT it will reset your time from 4:10 to 4:30... you just "lost" 20 minutes of xp. 20 minutes isn't much. But if you are in your house at 1pm, and don't come back until 9pm, you just lost7 hours of xp.
So: You don't have to babysit the vendors, just check in on them every 60 minutes until you see the xp shoot up, then head out again for another 60 minutes.
All of this is just useful for generating data for the devs to look at. Any situation where you are not getting your 150xp per hour is just unacceptable. If it worked like harvesters and it was just stored up I could live with that even though the real issue there is the global map. But missing xp is a serious problem that has to be addressed.
I never had any problmes with merchant XP. I did notice that I got the 150 xp each hour for each vendor at different times during the hour - I suppose that was set by the exact time the vendor was initialized.
I believe that there may have been offline periods where my vendor XP didn't accrue for a while, but it seemed to catch up later to where it should have been.
